Synopsis
Fifteen-year-old Mary appears to have a bright and promising life, but beneath the surface, she battles inner turmoil. Haunted by guilt over a childhood incident with her younger brother, Mark, Mary struggles with self-harm as she faces the growing pressures of family conflict, academic decline, and bullying at school. Mary's life takes a darker turn when a manipulative new student, Ryan, enters her world. Drawn in by his charm, she hopes he can help her escape her pain, only to be betrayed by his sinister motives. Together with Mona, a jealous classmate with a vendetta against Mary, Ryan's deceit leads Mary into an emotional and physical downward spiral. As her family’s financial struggles and emotional distance worsen, Mary finds herself isolated from the few sources of light in her life, including her best friend, Sophie. Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Bright Beginnings

Mary was the kind of child who could light up a room. With her bright eyes and infectious laughter, she had always been the heart of her small family. Growing up in a modest yet warm home, Mary shared a close bond with her younger brother, Mark. Although younger by three years, Mark admired Mary endlessly, often following her around like her shadow.

The two siblings were inseparable, spending hours playing make-believe games in the backyard. Mary was the leader of their adventures, spinning tales of enchanted forests and hidden treasures while Mark eagerly played along. Their bond was strengthened by their shared love of stories, a gift passed down from their mother, Emily. Emily, a school librarian, often brought home books to spark their imaginations.

Their father, David, a dedicated mechanic, worked long hours but always made time to be present at family dinners. It was during these dinners that Mary often shared her dreams of becoming a writer. "I want to write stories that people remember forever," she would say with a determined glint in her eyes. Her family would smile, encouraging her aspirations.

Mary was not only imaginative but also exceptionally intelligent. Her teachers often marveled at her quick grasp of complex concepts and her ability to think critically. In school, she consistently excelled in her academics, always coming out with flying colors. Her report cards were a source of pride for her family, especially for her father, David, who would proudly show them off to his colleagues at work.

Her brilliance wasn't confined to academics alone. Mary had a natural curiosity and loved exploring new ideas, whether it was through the books her mother brought home or through solving puzzles with Mark. She had a knack for understanding people and situations, making her well-liked among her peers and teachers alike.

Despite her success, Mary remained humble, never letting her achievements overshadow her love for her family. She often used her knowledge to help Mark with his homework, patiently guiding him through his studies. For Mary, the joy of learning was best when shared, and she was happiest when she could make those around her feel as inspired as she did.

But beneath her glowing exterior, Mary carried a secret—one that even she didn't fully understand yet. While her laughter filled the house and her achievements brought pride, a subtle shadow lingered in her heart, one that would soon begin to unravel her seemingly perfect world.
