Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Beginning of a new Life

A faint blue light flickered suddenly in the dim, pitch-black space as if a switch had been flipped. Slowly, white text began to appear on the screen:

[I've successfully captured a soul suitable to serve as the group's master. Starting the process of creating an identity for him…]

[Since this group serves all living beings across every realm, I'm gathering information to establish the group master's identity. The goal is to shape an image that will appeal to the general public.]

The cursor blinked, waiting.

Pages of blue paper, filled with questions and answers, flew out from the screen, scattering in all directions and filling the black space.

In a European-style mansion, a short-haired girl with blue hair and floppy ears was sweeping the brick pavement near a fountain pool. Dressed in a black-and-white maid's uniform, she was focused entirely on her task, determined to leave no dust behind. But just as she became absorbed in her work…

A white envelope appeared on the ground in front of her.

The young girl was startled by the letter's sudden appearance. For a moment, she froze, but she quickly regained her composure. Holding the broom, she bent down to pick up the letter.

Then something strange happened.

As her pale fingers touched the envelope, it transformed into a point of light. It drifted away with the wind, leaving only a piece of paper between her fingers.

"…There's no magical aura here?" she murmured, confused.

She held the paper closer to her eyes. On it was a single sentence:

"Perhaps he will appear in your future. What kind of beginning would you like him to have?"

Though the question's wording felt odd, the word "beginning" struck something deep within her, triggering memories of her past—a past filled with regret.

'I'm not sure if it's the handwriting on this letter or just my lingering thoughts…' she thought, staring at the paper. Almost without realizing it, she whispered aloud to herself:

"Maybe… just enough talent."

In an instant, something magical happened again. Without any magical aura in the air, the words she had spoken were written at the bottom of the letter:

[You wish him to have enough talent.]

The letter vanished, just like the envelope before it.

The girl stared at her empty hand, feeling like she had just dreamed the whole thing. It seemed too unreal to believe.

"What are you looking at?"

A voice suddenly interrupted her thoughts. She turned to see her twin sister standing behind her, her identical face showing concern.

"I got a little distracted," the girl said, shaking her head lightly to signal she was okay.

Deep inside an experimental base hidden in a dense, unknown forest, a white-haired woman sat shackled in a dimly lit observation room. Despite being 45 years old, she looked no older than 17.

Her body was naked and bound in a humiliating position, with metal restraints holding her chest in place, preventing any exposure.

Suddenly, the woman's eyes flickered as if she sensed something. She raised her head slightly and looked in a specific direction. But the metal blindfold covering her eyes made it impossible to see.

Then, out of nowhere…

Click!

With a sharp, crunching sound, the metal blindfold shattered like an unseen force had broken it apart.

Her blue eyes snapped open. Before she could react, a piece of paper with a faint blue glow appeared.

She stared at the paper as words slowly formed:

"If a character needs you to help shape his image, what kind of person would you like him to be?"

The woman, her voice hoarse from being tied up for so long, whispered in reply:

"If possible… I hope my knight in shining armour will come to my rescue."

Her words hung in the air, but the letter didn't respond immediately. It seemed like the mysterious force behind it was considering her answer.

After a long pause, more words appeared at the bottom of the letter:

[Do you wish him to be kind and sufficiently handsome?]

A bitter smile tugged at the corners of the woman's pale lips. She whispered, almost to herself:

"Oh, I suppose you could see it that way…"

Moments later, more small words appeared beneath that:

[Please be patient. Your wish will eventually be realized.]

With that, the letter turned into glowing points of light, scattering and vanishing. The observation room fell silent once again.

On the second floor of an underground catacomb, a woman in a soft black evening gown stood alone in the center. The hem of her skirt billowed around her, heavy and substantial. The upper half of her body was draped in a short cardigan decorated with lace and ribbons, while her arms were covered in long, elegant gloves.

"Collection of information completed. Remodelling the soul carrier for the group master, world identity information implanted…"

A clear typing sound echoed in the black space, followed by the silhouette of a young man around 20, slowly materializing.

The youth had a pure Asian face, but his skin was ashen—almost sickly, as if he hadn't seen the light in years.

And, of course, the most notable feature was his pair of long, pointed ears, which no human should have.

"Carrier remodeling completed… Soul successfully implanted… Now beginning to drop into the designated world."

The light screen in the center of the black space displayed more words. As the last of the text appeared, the male humanoid body suspended in mid-air suddenly vanished.

At the same time, in a world called "The

Seraph of the End," above the ruins of old Nagoya City, a young vampire man dressed in a black and white slim-fit uniform suddenly lay flat on a long-abandoned street.

Just as he lay there…

"Boom!"

From the second floor of an abandoned building on the left side of the street, a three-meter-tall, multi-legged monster smashed through the wall, charging straight toward the youth lying in the street.

In the flying debris, the monster's hideous mouth gaped open, ready to crush the unconscious youth on the spot.

But just before the monster closed in, the youth's tightly shut eyes suddenly opened. His vertical pupils were blood-red, locking onto the beast that had descended upon him.

The youth's inhuman pupils contracted sharply, almost like a slit!

Before his brain could process it, his body moved unimaginably. In an instant, he jerked up, leaned back, kicked off the ground with both hands and sent the monster—several tons in weight—flying into the wall.

The monster screeched in pain, struggling to get up, but the youth was already on the move. He pulled out a steel bar with a cement block and leaped after the monster, landing a fierce blow to its head.

Half a minute later, the ferocity in the youth's eyes faded after smashing the monster's skull. He casually threw the bloodstained steel bar aside and jumped back onto the ground from the now lifeless monster.

Looking around, he was silent and confused.

The old, weathered buildings, broken-down cars, and the pothole-filled streets around him made it clear this place was unlike anything he knew—it looked like a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

"Where… exactly is this place?" he muttered.

Taking a few steps forward, Lu Ji scanned the entire street with confusion, wondering if he was still dreaming.

Then, a sudden pain in his head made him freeze momentarily.

Transmigrated…

The message from the system echoed in his mind, letting him know that he had crossed over into a world he'd once seen—"The Seraph of the End."

Was he shocked? A little, but not to the point where it completely rocked his world.

After all, transmigration has become pretty standard these days.

What was more noteworthy was the way he crossed over. Like most settings, he died and ended up in another world. However, instead of the usual truck accident, he had accidentally fallen to his death.

In short… it was still transmigration.

But unlike most stories, where the soul occupies someone else's body, Lu Ji finds himself in a brand-new body that the system provides for him.

He looked down at his hands—pale, bony, and beautiful—and then touched the sharp fangs that had replaced his original tiger-like teeth, along with the pointed ears that definitely didn't belong to a human.

"Vampires, huh… I don't know what the idiot was thinking, making me a non-human…" Lu Ji muttered to himself.

But despite the sudden change, he didn't feel all that uncomfortable. Instead, he felt a weird thrill, his curiosity piqued.

Unlike the extreme resistance in a Tokyo Ghoul situation, he could accept being a bloodsucker. After all, it was better than cannibalism, right?

He had earned his second chance at life. What really frustrated him was the character he had been assigned.

According to the system, his current identity was that of an outcast from the third vampire city, Sanguinem.

An outcast.

Why? Because someone had given him a "goodness" setting, and another had given him a "close-to-humans" setting. Combined with the world's setting of "The Seraph of the End," and his "Bloodsucker" race, his background had become…

The original body had been rejected by the entire vampire race, so much so that he was now the only one of the Sanguinem still exiled.

"What kind of messed-up situation is this?"

Lu Ji scratched his soft black hair, frustrated. He cursed the people who decided to give him this ridiculous condition: no pooping for an entire week.

"Oh well, I'll deal with it."

He sighed and looked back at the monster he had just killed.

Although he didn't have the full memories, just the setting, he could already guess the identity of this creature—the Four Knights of Heavenly Revelation (John's Four Knights).

One of the Seraphs summoned this monster when it blew its horn.

In Seraph of the End, it was just another foot soldier, quickly taken down by Cursed Gear Users or even the lowest-tier vampires.

But to Lu Ji, who came from a world without supernatural beings, even this basic soldier was fascinating. He couldn't help but keep examining this fantasy creature's body repeatedly.

It was strange, to say the least.

Perhaps becoming a vampire had numbed his emotions, leaving him unmoved by the mysterious creature. This ability likely allowed him to face the monster directly and calmly, without hesitation, swiftly defeating it.
