Chapter 3 - A Love That Glows

The rooftop was bathed in a golden glow, the soft twinkle of fairy lights casting shadows that danced with the gentle night breeze.

Shourya stood at the center of it all, his heart pounding against his chest as he surveyed his creation—a haven of romance meticulously crafted just for her. The petals of deep red roses lined the pathway leading to a canopy adorned with sheer drapes, under which a table for two awaited.

Beyond, the city sparkled as if nature itself conspired to honor their love.

When Meera stepped onto the rooftop, her breath hitched. She paused, her hand fluttering to her chest as she took in the scene.

Clad in a flowing crimson gown, she looked as if she belonged to the very fabric of the night. Her wavy hair framed her face, which was illuminated with a mix of surprise and wonder.

"Shourya," she whispered, her voice soft but laced with astonishment. "What is all this?"

Shourya approached her, his smile filled with quiet warmth. "Something special for someone who deserves nothing less."

She narrowed her eyes, her lips curving into a teasing smile. "You're setting the bar pretty high here, Mr. Verma."

"I intend to keep it that way," he replied, offering his hand.

The evening unfolded like a dream.

They dined under the stars, their laughter and playful banter weaving a melody that rivaled the soft violin strains playing in the background. Shourya adored the way her eyes lit up when she recounted her recent art piece, her gestures animated as she described every brushstroke.

Meera, in turn, found herself captivated by the way Shourya spoke about his latest business triumph—not with arrogance, but with a passion that made her heart swell.

As the night deepened, Shourya stood suddenly, reaching out his hand. "Come with me."

Meera raised an eyebrow but allowed him to lead her toward the canopy. Beneath it, a heart-shaped arrangement of candles flickered, their glow reflecting in her wide eyes.

"Shourya," she murmured, her voice thick with emotion. "This is beautiful."

He turned to face her, his gaze holding hers with an intensity that sent shivers down her spine.

"Meera," he said, stepping closer. "You've changed everything for me. You make every moment brighter, every challenge lighter. You're not just a part of my life—you are my life."

Her breath caught as he knelt, revealing a velvet box. The diamond within sparkled, but it was his expression—raw, vulnerable, and utterly in love—that stole her focus.

"Will you marry me?" he asked, his voice steady but laced with anticipation.

Meera blinked, her lips parting in surprise. Then, a mischievous grin broke through. "Hmm... marry you?" she repeated, tapping her chin dramatically. "I'm not so sure. Are you really ready to handle me forever?"

His face froze, a flicker of panic crossing his eyes. "Meera, wait—"

Her laughter burst out, rich and melodious, and she dropped to her knees before him. "I'm kidding, you idiot!" She took his face in her hands, her voice dropping to a whisper. "Yes, Shourya. Yes, a million times yes."

Relief washed over him, and he pulled her into his arms, lifting her effortlessly as they laughed together. Their faces were so close now, the world around them shrinking until only their shared breath and beating hearts remained.

"You terrified me," he murmured against her temple, his voice trembling with unspoken emotion.

"You'll survive," she teased, pulling back just enough to look into his eyes.

Her own shimmered with unshed tears, and her lips quirked into a soft smile. "After all, life with me is going to be full of surprises."

"And I'll cherish every single one," he replied, his lips brushing against hers in a kiss that held nothing but pure, unrestrained love.As the kiss deepened, fireworks erupted in the sky above, casting bursts of color across the night.

Meera pulled back, her eyes wide with delight.

"You planned this too?" she asked, spinning in his arms to take in the display.

"I wanted the world to celebrate what we have," he said, his gaze never leaving her.

She turned back to him, her hands resting on his chest. "You don't need fireworks for that, Shourya. I feel it right here." She pressed her hand over his heart, her touch igniting every fiber of his being.

And as they stood under the brilliant night sky, wrapped in each other's arms, it wasn't the promise of a future or the grandeur of the moment that mattered—it was the love they shared, a love that glowed brighter than any firework above.

Would their love, so radiant tonight, stand unshaken against the storms that life inevitably brings—or would fate have other plans?
