Chapter 9 - Chapter 7: The Continental

The early morning sun cast long shadows over New York City as John Wick and Dominic Toretto made their way through the bustling streets. The events of the previous night lingered in their minds, but there was no time to dwell on the past. They had a new lead to follow, one that could bring them closer to uncovering the truth behind Ares's cryptic message: "The past never forgets."

Their destination was The Continental, a hotel that served as neutral ground for members of the clandestine world of assassins. John had a long history with The Continental and its manager, Winston. He hoped that Winston could provide information about Ares's resurgence and any connections to other players in the underworld.

As they approached the grand entrance of The Continental, Dom couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. "This place gives me the creeps," he muttered.

John offered a faint smile. "It's not as bad as it seems. Just remember the rules: no business on Continental grounds."

Inside, the lobby exuded an air of sophistication and secrecy. Assassins and mercenaries from around the world mingled, each respecting the unspoken code of conduct. John led Dom to the reception desk, where a familiar face greeted them.

"Mr. Wick," Charon, the concierge, said with a nod. "It's been a while. How can we assist you today?"

"I need to speak with Winston," John replied.

Charon glanced at Dom, then back at John. "Of course. And your companion?"

"He's with me," John assured.

"Very well," Charon said, gesturing toward the elevator. "Winston is expecting you."

The elevator ride was silent, the weight of their mission pressing down on them. When the doors opened, they were greeted by the opulent office of Winston, who stood by the window, gazing out at the city.

"John," Winston said without turning around. "To what do I owe the pleasure?"

"I need information," John replied. "Ares is alive, and he's not working alone."

Winston turned to face them, his expression unreadable. "Ares... now that's a name I haven't heard in some time. If he's resurfaced, it means there's a larger game at play."

Dom stepped forward. "We need to know who he's working with and what their endgame is."

Winston studied Dom for a moment before nodding. "Very well. I have contacts who might have the information you seek. But be warned, delving into this will attract attention from powerful enemies."

"We're prepared," John said firmly.

Winston walked over to his desk and retrieved a small, ornate box. He opened it to reveal a single gold coin, embossed with intricate designs. "This is a marker," he explained. "It represents a blood oath. Use it wisely."

John took the coin, understanding its significance. "Thank you, Winston."

As they left The Continental, Dom couldn't help but ask, "What's the deal with that coin?"

"It's a promise," John replied. "One that can't be broken."

Their next move was clear: find Ares's associates and uncover their plans. The marker would lead them to someone who owed John a favor—someone with information about the shadowy figures pulling the strings.

The journey ahead was fraught with danger, but John and Dom were resolute. They would confront the ghosts of the past and put an end to the looming threat once and for all.

As they walked into the bustling streets of New York, the sun climbed higher, casting light on the path they had chosen. Together, they were ready to face whatever challenges awaited them, bound by a shared purpose and an unbreakable bond.
