Chapter 7 - A Prodigy's First Heartbreak

Amelia studies Alexander's movements, saying, "That looks much better. Put more mana into the next one." Amelia looked shocked momentarily as the flames from Alexander's fireball licked the wind mana wall she had him strike. Amelia snapped back to the present and said, "That will be all for today." Alexander's frustration was written all over his face. Alexander panicked, saying, "Master, what's wrong? Practice has been getting shorter and shorter every day lately." Amelia said bluntly, " You're simply growing too rapidly. I'm afraid at this point you might not be too far off from me. Your creativity with magic is unmatched, you… You do things with spells I have never seen done. Your skills are simply monstrous, and I feel as if I'm lacking to teach you myself. Alexander had a look of horror written all over his face. Alexander said meekly, "What do I do when you leave your master?" Amelia wore a defeated look, saying, "I'm afraid as it stands now we are equals." Alexander was shaken to his core as he retorted, "You are my goddess; your greatness exceeds expectations." Tears began to form in Alexander's eyes as he fell to his knees.

Amelia came over and hugged Alexander with a warm smile, saying, "Little one, I will see you again one day. You promised you would stand by my side one day. Consider this parting as me leading the way ahead. A tear dropped out of Amelia's eye, which caused Amelia to touch her face because the tears sliding down her face betrayed the warm smile she was sporting. Until she finally dropped the facade and hugged Alexander closely. They headed back to the house as Amelia prepared to leave; she said her goodbyes to everyone. Alexander looked miserable. As the words he wanted to say couldn't find their mark. Amelia pitied Alexander, giving him her black headband as a parting gift. Alexander was no longer in despair as he held the headband close to him. Amelia's send-off was finally complete, causing Alexander to drop to his knees with nothing but the headband to give him comfort. Elizabeth wrapped her arms around Alexander, kissing his head, and this was giving him comfort. Elizabeth walked Alexander back into the house, giving him space to calm down.

Alexander went into his room still in shambles. A few days went on, and Alexander still had not left the room. Alexander just looked at his hand, studying the ring Amelia gave to him. Alexander heard a loud knocking on his room door until his door banged open, and in the doorway stood Quicksilver. The fury seen inside his father's eyes was immense, to the point that his aura started leaking out as he walked closer to Alexander. This terrified Alexander; at this moment, he didn't see his father anymore; he saw a demon. Quicksilver moved with a sense of urgency towards Alexander knocking all items out of his path, making a straight B-line towards Alexander. Quicksilver didn't say a word. Elizabeth ran upstairs, blocking Quicksilver's path, saying, "What are you doing?!" with fear and dread all over her face. Quicksilver didn't say anything; he just looked at Elizabeth, and it was like they spoke without saying anything as she let him pass reluctantly. Quicksilver threw Alexander on the ground outside, and it began raining. Quicksilver drew a sword from his holster.

Alexander tried to talk, but his voice was hoarse from not speaking, and before he knew it, his dad closed the distance with 1 step, at this moment, Alexander saw his life flash before his eyes. Alexander slid under the horizontal strike, hitting the ground with a water blast, making it muddy. Then his father slashed Aura at him, which he dodged by using an earth mana shield as a pillar. Alexander finally was able to speak, saying, "What are you doing?" To his surprise, Quicksilver answered him and said, "You want to die, right? So I am helping you. Not eating is making your mother worry. I got home after a year, and my wife is telling me to have patience. I've been home for 2 days." Quicksilver grimaced at the thought of Alexander's pity party turning to shame in an instant. Alexander said, "I'm sorry, Dad, I just…" Quicksilver threw his sword on the ground, heading back inside, ripping his shirt off, allowing Alexander to see his back more clearly. There was a stab wound and a slash wound on his back. Close to it, there seemed to be tick marks numbering about 47, and there were 6 new tick marks covering his back. He could tell because the ink looked fresh. Quicksilver just looked over his shoulder, saying in a low tone, "It's ok to be sad. But when you make others worry, it's not cool. When was the last time you really looked at your mom?" Quicksilver combed through his hair with his fingers, letting his hair flow wildly. Quicksilver walked up to the door, and without turning around, he said, Take a look at your mom when you get the chance. The door closed, leaving Alexander by himself, drenched with rain and mud. Alexander smacked himself hard in the face with both hands.

Alexander spoke to himself. "I finally have people that care about me. Love me, and here I am, drowning in my own sorrows. I didn't even notice my dad coming home. I need to make this right." Alexander picks himself up off the ground and goes inside. Alexander could see his mom and dad arguing, which was a bizarre sight. Since Alexander had been born, he had never seen these two lovebirds argue about anything. Alexander ran over there; he didn't care what it was about; he just screamed, "Stop!" the fear evident on Alexander's face. Alexander, like a kid on the big stage for the first time, struggled to find the words now that the attention was on him. Thunder boomed with lightning flashing brightly. Alexander spoke again. "Stop fighting. It was selfish of me to want Amelia to stay." The sky began to clear up, allowing the moonlight to hit his mother's face. Allowing Alexander to see the dark circles around her eyes from a lack of sleep. Then he noticed his mother was smaller than he remembered, with cracks on her lips probably from being dehydrated. Alexander began to cry, saying, "Mother, I love you, and welcome home, Dad." This made Elizabeth smile as she embraced Alexander with all the strength she had left remaining. Elizabeth then collapsed, but Quicksilver caught her in his arms in a princess carry. Alexander's face was filled with horror. Quicksilver calmly said, "She just needs a good sleep and some rest. Remember this moment the next time you act on emotion. This is only a glimpse of how much your mother loves you. You're our miracle child after all." Alexander said, "I'm sorry, Dad." Quicksilver replied, "Don't be sorry ever; just do better, and… I love you too, son."
