Austin has been a hardworking and calm person since he could remember. He would do anything he set his mind to since he was young and would risk everything to achieve his goal. The only thing that mattered to him was himself and his goal. He could get rid of anyone on this path. Austin's father was an English nobleman, so he was raised like a nobleman. As he got older, Austin became interested in history and spent every day learning new things and would set a bigger goal for himself, even if it was impossible, he was ready to do anything to achieve that goal. What was his goal? He wanted to be a king, and the biggest one at that! Although a full-fledged monarchy was impossible in the 21st century, he had already planned the path he would take and all the steps he would take.
Austin had prepared his plan, first of all he had to enter politics, since his father was a nobleman, this was not very difficult. From the moment he entered the parliament, Austin had attracted the attention of many people, both his actions and his ideals had made him popular among other politicians and the public. Within a few years, he had gained a seat in the parliament and strengthened his power. His next step was to spread his influence. This was the dangerous thing for him because he did not want to step into water that he could not see the bottom of. After a while, his plans progressed successfully and he had gathered many supporters at a very young age. Even now, he was a controversial name in the country's politics. When he had increased his influence enough, he made a decision. He would step into the army because he could not be satisfied with just politicians for a real uprising. He needed much more. Austin took the officers who had just graduated from the academy under his protection and supported them. At the same time, he opened various educational institutions for those who would enter the military academy. Within a few years, he also introduced them to the army as officers. Finally, when he had gained enough influence in the army, all he had to do was press the button to carry out the coup. He had determined the date in his mind for the coup to take place. It was simple and memorable. Austin was planning to overthrow the government on January 1. As the days approached, the tension in the country was rising. Although no one knew that a coup would happen, the leaders of the country knew that it would happen sooner or later because the monopoly in the country had grown too much and all the arrows were pointing to the same person: Austin Smith, the eldest son and sole heir of the Smith barony. Austin's dream was very big, but he knew it, so he had prepared for it for years. Now everything was ready and the coup was hours away, but unfortunately Austin would be killed before he could make the coup.
-3 hours before the planned Coup time, Austin Smith's study room at his home-
I was sitting at my desk, there were a few papers in front of me, waiting to be read by me, but instead of dealing with them, I got up from my chair and headed towards my drink table to pour myself a glass of whiskey, it was 9:00 pm, I was a little stressed, but mostly I felt at ease, after sending the whiskey down in one gulp, I went back to my chair and waited for the hour to come, half an hour later my secretary knocked on my door.
"Sir. Mr. Mosby is here to see you."
"Mosby?"
''Let him in.''
Mosby was Austin's most trusted subordinate, he had been very careful when choosing him, but this action made him a little suspicious because Mosby would never come unless called. Austin, who was disturbed by this situation, checked the gun in his desk drawer. After all, he had not come here by chance, he had planned every step absolutely and cleverly, he would not let the biggest step in realizing his dream slip away from him like this, yes, even if it meant getting his hands stained with blood himself. While Austin was lost in his thoughts, he realized something; he was paranoid, he knew it very well and he was not complaining because he had known from the very beginning that he could not truly trust anyone on this path he had set out on alone.
While Austin was thinking to himself, Mosby had already come in and sat across from him, looking nervous.
frowning and looking at Mosby, Austin thought, 'Something is wrong'
''To what do I owe this visit, Mosby?'' Austin asked
''Hello sir, it's great to see you, how are you?'' Mosby asked, ignoring Austin's question.
Austin was surprised by this but didn't show anything on his face, after all, one of the features that had brought him here was his magnificent poker face, his suspicion that something was wrong became even more apparent. He studied Mosby more closely and noticed something about him, he was avoiding eye contact and he was sweating, these were clearly signs of high tension. Mosby had only entered the room for a few minutes, but the atmosphere was very tense.
Austin had an idea and this idea made him even more tense. 'When did Mosby get permission to sit down?' Keeping his poker face, he slowly moved his hand to the drawer where his gun was and asked.
''You look a little nervous, Mosby. Is there something worrying you?''
but Mosby didn't answer this question either Austin's hand finally reached the drawer but Mosby also noticed another change; his posture, his stance as if he was hiding something Austin who realized what it was started to sweat and got even more nervous, quickened his movements and asked again.
''I don't remember asking permission to sit down Mosby.''
Austin quickly opened the drawer and grabbed the gun just as he was about to pull it out he caught Mosby's eye and froze because Mosby had already pointed his gun at him he had a scared and angry expression on his face, yes despite everything Austin was late, before he could think any further two shots were heard in the Mansion Austin was sitting in his chair covered in blood he had an expression on his face he had never shown anyone before, blood was flowing from his right chest and shoulder if his wounds were treated immediately he would most likely live but Austin knew very well that wouldn't happen because Mosby was still pointing the gun at him, Mosby opened his mouth for the second time since he entered the room and spoke.
''I'm sorry Austin, I have to do this.''
Austin wiped the blood from his mouth and spoke:
''Fuck you!''
and then another bullet came out of the gun, this bullet hit Austin right in the heart.
Austin's vision started to go black, his eyelids didn't feel as light as before, they had become very heavy, Austin was very angry, he could no longer feel his limbs due to the loss of blood, but he still continued to stare at his killer, the anger he felt was tangible, he didn't want to die, he refused to die, the bullet in his heart seemed to not hurt him at all, there was no strength left in his body, he knew he was going to die, he thought quickly about what he had done wrong but couldn't find anything and because of this he was even more angry with himself, Austin was still looking at his killer, he couldn't feel a single nerve in his body, but he didn't want to die, he hadn't realized his dream yet and nothing would stop him from achieving his dream, yes not even death. Austin shook himself out of his thoughts and closed his eyes, trying to take a deep breath but his lungs didn't help him. Seconds before he died, Austin opened his mouth one last time and said his last words.
"I refuse to fail."
And embraced the darkness.
