{Chapter: 39 Wash your eyes 20 times}

After tidying himself up and getting into his best mood, Lin Yuan made his way out the door.

Today, he wasn't driving just any car—he opened the door to his Pagani Zonda Cinque, a rare masterpiece among hypercars. With only five Pagani Cinques in the world, Lin Yuan had spared no expense, investing a staggering 50 million for the privilege of owning one. If he's going to flex, he better do it with style!

Jinhua Square was packed with people today.

The reason for the massive crowd was the annual music exhibition hosted by Jiangbei Conservatory of Music, one of the five most prestigious music academies in the country.

It's no secret that the conservatory boasted many handsome men and beautiful women, and today, countless admirers flooded the square, eager to catch a glimpse of some of the finest talents. Others were simply there to enjoy the lively atmosphere and the music.

At the entrance of Jinhua Square, two stunning young women stood out in the crowd.

Almost every passerby couldn't help but stop and admire them. These two girls were so striking that they seemed to possess an ethereal presence, and among the many beautiful faces surrounding Jiangbei Conservatory, their allure remained impossible to ignore.

The two women were none other than Chi Qian and Yu Shanshan.

"Chi Qian, don't worry! My cousin promised he'll be here soon. Today, we're going to make those gossipy women eat their words—one by one. They're like sour lemons, ugly and bitter! Just wait, my cousin is ridiculously handsome!" Yu Shanshan said, her voice filled with excitement.

Chi Qian, with her calm demeanor and a smile that radiated elegance, simply replied, "It's fine, let them say whatever they want. It won't affect me."

Yu Shanshan's eyes sparkled mischievously as she continued, "No way! You're too good for them. I can't stand the way they talk, especially that Zhang Manli. As your... husband... oh, ow! I meant your good friend, I'll make sure to slap their insults right back at them!"

Chi Qian smiled but chose not to respond. Yu Shanshan's playful determination was something Chi Qian had long accepted. Despite how little it bothered her, her friend's loyalty always amused her.

As the music exhibition approached, students from the conservatory started walking towards the square in pairs and groups, adding to the buzz in the air.

Meanwhile, a figure stepped out of a sleek BMW, drawing a few glances from the crowd.

It was Zhang Manli, and she couldn't help but feel a pang of frustration when she noticed the attention Chi Qian was attracting. As one of the most popular girls in school, Zhang Manli had always been used to being the center of attention. But ever since Chi Qian arrived at Jiangbei Conservatory of Music, her own spotlight had been overshadowed by this new and undeniable beauty.

Although Zhang Manli kept up appearances, deep down, she felt a growing jealousy. Chi Qian wasn't just beautiful; she was also a prodigy in music, with half the boys in school confessing to her, all of which were promptly rejected. The students' adoration only seemed to elevate Chi Qian's status, and Zhang Manli couldn't ignore how the comparison made her feel insignificant.

"Chi Qian, I know you're just standing there looking all perfect, but it's not like I'm the only one who deserves attention!" Zhang Manli muttered under her breath.

Chi Qian, however, paid no mind, continuing to stand gracefully as the bustling crowd surrounded them.

"Look at me, look at my BMW! See how cold it is? Warm my hands, please!" Zhang Manli said loudly as she passed by Chi Qian, attempting to flaunt her wealth and her boyfriend, Wang Wei, by her side.

Chi Qian didn't even flinch at the subtle display, her eyes unfazed. But Yu Shanshan, who was ever quick-witted, wasn't about to let this moment pass unnoticed.

"What's so impressive about a BMW? Just a regular car! Some bugs really do need to be swatted away. I'm going to need to wash my eyes 20 when I get home," Yu Shanshan retorted, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

"What did you just say? Are you calling me a bug?" Zhang Manli shot back, her irritation building.

"Who's the bug? Who's disgusting? Hmm, something really smells bad around here," Yu Shanshan teased, dramatically waving her hand in front of her nose, pretending to gag.

Zhang Manli clenched her fists, furious, but the crowd of people around her kept her from escalating the situation further. Chi Qian hadn't even spared a glance her way, leaving Zhang Manli feeling humiliated.

"Forget about this fool. Wang Wei, help me warm my hands, they're freezing!" Zhang Manli snapped, trying to regain some semblance of control by redirecting her attention to her boyfriend.

But when she turned to her boyfriend, she noticed something that immediately set her off.

Wang Wei, normally attentive, was completely transfixed by Chi Qian's serene beauty.

"Wang Wei!" Zhang Manli exclaimed, her anger flaring as she slapped his cheek lightly.

"Yes, yes! Sorry, I'll help!" Wang Wei stammered, snapping out of his daze and using his mouth to help warm Zhang Manli's hands, trying to please her despite the awkwardness of the situation.

Deep down, Wang Wei couldn't deny that Chi Qian was even more stunning than Zhang Manli. But the thought of pursuing someone so far beyond his reach—someone as unattainable as Chi Qian—was a daunting, if not impossible, idea. Still, his eyes lingered for a moment longer than he realized.

Yu Shanshan, ever the playful observer, saw this exchange and couldn't resist. "Wow, can't you even control your boyfriend? How ridiculous. It's no wonder you're still trying to show off," she whispered to Chi Qian, a grin spreading across her face.

Zhang Manli, desperate to save face, sneered back, "Hmph! It's better than having a boyfriend who hasn't even bothered to show up, right?"

The barbs and subtle insults floated between the girls, but for Chi Qian, none of it mattered. As the exhibition began, she simply walked forward with quiet dignity, the crowd parting before her as she entered the heart of Jinhua Square.
