I closed my eyes and said the word:
[Sei]
Race: Vampire
Age: 16
Magion Amount: 600/1000
Stats:
Strength: 20
Speed: 15
Reflexes: 10
Skills:
Race Skills: [Sei]; [Ei]; [Regeneration: Low]; [Night Vision]; [Accumulation]; [Flight]
Accumulated Skills: [Accelerate]
Magic:
Element: [???: Locked]; [???: Locked]; [Water]
Spells: None
Now I understand what Sei is. It allows me to see all the information about myself, and it seems to be a Vampire-exclusive skill.
But why are some of my magical elements locked, and why can't I see what they are?
"Wait… What?" I said aloud, shocked.
Accelerate—is it a new skill I gained when I absorbed the Thorned Rabbit's magion?
I know there's a small chance to gain a skill from a creature's magion, but the odds are extremely low. Does this mean I'm just that lucky?
From the name, I assume it makes me move faster. I'll have to test it later.
This Sei—it's a interesting skill. If Sei allows me to see everything about myself, then Ei must be the opposite.
When I opened my eyes, all the information I had seen disappeared.
I should go hunt more Thorned Rabbits, but first, I need to remove these thorns. I hope it doesn't hurt. Well, it doesn't really matter after the pain I felt earlier.
I pulled out the thorns.
"Huh," I said, surprised, as I tossed them aside.
I was shocked to see my wounds slowly healing.
So, that's the skill [Regeneration].
Once my wounds finished healing, it was as if they had never been there—no scars, nothing.
I decided to move to a new location, but first, I needed to cut off the creature's horn to show how many I had hunted.
As I wandered through the forest, I saw the perfect target: a Thorned Rabbit eating berries from a bush.
I activated the skill Ei. Just like Sei, information appeared in front of me:
Race: Thorned Rabbit
Threat Level: Low
Skills: [Acceleration]; [Leap];[Last Defense]; [Pierce]
So, the thorns it had fired earlier were called [Last Defense].
If I had gained that skill… I don't even want to think about it.
Now, let's try creating a spell. What should I aim for? Hmm… maybe something similar to Air Bullet.
I pointed my index finger at the Thorned Rabbit and focused on concentrating my magion to create a ball of water.
I attempted the low-level spell Water Shot.
"Water Shot was a spell that converts the magion one possesses into water. The water is then fired from a single point, most commonly the finger.
It would, of course, only work if you had the water element."
I missed. The rabbit darted away as if it had teleported.
It was tricky to control, but I'm sure I won't miss next time.
I spent a few hours in the forest searching for another Thorned Rabbit, but they were surprisingly hard to find.
Finally, I found one.
"Ahhhh!"
"What was that? A scream—it sounded like someone was in trouble."
It came from close by. I ran toward the source.
When I arrived, I saw a girl lying by a tree, bruised and burned, her clothes tattered.
Wait… is that Emily?
"What happened to her?" I muttered, rushing to her side.
"Emily… Hey, Emily!" I yelled, shaking her gently.
She barely opened her eyes. "Run," she whispered before losing consciousness.
"Her whole body felt hot. She was clearly hit by a high-level spell because her regeneration didn't activate.
She was still worried about someone else, despite her condition. What happened? Did she encounter a high-level monster?"
"Oh… What do we have here? A friend of Emily… or perhaps a lover," a voice said in an elegant but eerie tone.
I turned to see a man in a black cloak over noble attire.
This Vampire—no, this wasn't a Vampire but a Fallen. He had the Mark of a Sinner engraved on his left hand: a circle within a circle.
He had broken two of the Vampire laws established by our Founding Ancestor, who used his life force to create them:
1. Never drink blood intentionally.
2. Never turn a human into a Vampire.
3. Never absorb souls.
The punishment for breaking these laws was losing one's eternal live, marked by the Sinner's Mark.
Every Vampire has eternal life, which means we can live forever. However, a vampire who breaks one of the rules is stripped of their immortality, thus becoming a Fallen.
This Fallen was high-ranking. His magion was overwhelming.
What should I do? I can't abandon Emily, but if I stay, we'll both die.
I clenched my teeth. Am I going to see someone die again… just like before?
I thought becoming a Vampire would make me stronger. But I can't even save this one girl.
"Damn it," I muttered, biting my lip.
Think. What can I do? What skills can I use?
Accelerate—yes, I could try that.
But before I could act, the Fallen spoke. "Fire Needle," he said, pointing at me.
A sharp object grazed my cheek, followed by an explosion that shook the earth.
When I turned, half the forest was destroyed—flames everywhere.
How could this Fallen wield such power with just a point of his finger?
"Don't try anything funny. I know you have the [Accelerate] skill," he said.
"H-how did you know?" I asked, trembling.
He laughed. "Are you stupid? I used [Ei]."
I had forgotten that other Vampires could use [Ei] too.
"Since you made me laugh, I'll let you use it too," he said mockingly.
Hesitant, I activated [Ei].
Race: Vampire (Fallen)
Age: ???
Magion Amount: 10 000
Threat Level: ???
Skills: ???
"What?!"
The Fallen grinned. "Now... do you see? You have no chance of beating me."
It's hopeless. There's nothing I can do when he has ten times the amount of magion I have.
"Die, for the sake of the Order," he said, his face expressionless, as if he were looking at a bug.
He pointed his finger at me again.
I closed my eyes, expecting death.
But nothing happened.
When I opened my eyes, Professor Muland stood before me, shielding us with a Wind Prison.
"Silver, you did well. I'm proud of you," he said with a kind smile.
I hadn't heard those words in so long. My eyes welled with tears, but now wasn't the time for crying.
"Sir, that man is a Fallen!" I shouted.
"I know. Take Emily and go."
"But, sir—"
"Go!"
I lifted Emily in my arms, activated Accelerate, and fled. I didn't look back.
I trusted Professor Muland had a plan… and that he'd return alive.
