Previously.

-suru-

"sigh, I'm blaming you for this". Timothy said, glaring at me.

"oh, shut up lazy bones". I said rolling my eyes.

'now what was that dream?'.

-Narrator -

A while later suru can be seen standing in front of a body sized mirror, peering deeply into it and the image that appears in the mirror is that of a boy of African origin, possesing brown chocolaty skin, black irises, and a head of healthy full black hair, while also dressed in a school uniform consisting of a white shirt, black trousers, a black belt, a tie and a pair of shoes, of which were both black in colour.

"meh, not bad". Suru thought while looking at his reflection. After that he left the mirror and headed towards his bed in order to retrieve his backpack. Upon reaching his bed he picked up his bag and began to inspect It, as he did so he adopted a look of displeasure on his face.

"I would have liked it black, but supposedly I have too many dark coloured possessions , *sigh*". He said with distaste, clearly displeased with the item, why you wonder?, well because it was blue not black. Black was surus' favorite colour, blue was maybe a close second but he still prefered black.

"I mean come on, it's not like it's the only thing I wear". He said voicing out his displeasure some more, before puting on his backpack begrudgingly.

"well on the bright side it's not yellow and I have to be grateful for what I have". Suru said sighing.

"Hey are you done yet?!". Suru's brother Timothy yelled.

Groaning and muttering complaints under his breath, suru replied his brother.

"yeah I'm done and learn to be patient, it's not like we're running late or anything, sheesh". Suru said, while exiting their room. Turning around after closing the door to their room, surus eyes landed on his brother who wore the same uniform as him, with the only difference being instead of trousers his brother wore shorts and possessed a red backpack with the spider man logo on it.

"yeah yeah, just hurry up and let's go". Timothy said rolling his eyes.

"Tsk brat". Suru muttered, shaking his head.

"Anyway, mommy we are leaving oo!". Timothy yelled.

"ehn?, what do you mean you are leaving, did you forget what I said?". She asked from the kitchen, confusion evident in her voice.

Timothy who was already going for the door, halted in his steps, while suru just stood, with a smirk donning his lips, amusement clear in his eyes.

"huh?, forget what?". Timothy replied confused, instantly proving his mother right.

"bwahahahahaha!". Prompting suru to laugh and causing Timothy to turn his attention to his brother, once again confused.

"oh my God, haha sorry sorry, i couldn't help myself". Suru said, wiping tears from his eyes.

"what?". Timothy asked.

"oh, it's just that you have a worse attention span than me and I didn't think that was possible". Suru said, refusing to elaborate more, much to the chargrin of his brother.

"ugh, seriously if you don't have anything meaningful to say, you might as well keep your mouth shut". Timothy said to his brother in annoyance.

"I heard that!". Their mother said from the kitchen.

Hearing what their mother said caused the already large smile on surus face to become even bigger.

'yes, now you're gonna get it,you'll finally regret always talking to me like that hehe'. Suru thought, as their mother made her way to their sitting room.

"Timothy how many times have I told you to not talk to your brother like that, now apologise to him". Their mother scolded Timothy.

"fine, sorry suru". Timothy said clearly not meaning the apology.

"EHN!?, how many times have I corrected you, shay do you want to be flogged ni? , I told you to refer to him as brother suru". Their mother said, annoyance and anger clear in her voice.

"yes um,I mean sorry brother suru". Timothy said, trying his best to sound apologetic, despite him not meaning the apology for the fear of a whooping from their mother.

Suru being the forgiving brother that he is ofcourse, accepted his apology with a smile on his face.

"Don't worry it's all good". Suru said while grinning from ear to ear.

"Anyway, shouldn't we be heading to school right now, what's the hold up?". Timothy asked, causing suru to lose his smile and face palm, while their mom shook her head.

"you really forgot about what I said earlier *sigh*, I said that you would be taking the bus this term bu-" their mom didn't get to finish her sentence before she was rudely interrupted by Timothy.

"REALLY?!". Timothy said in excitement, unable to believe his hears.

"BUT, only in the morning, when it's closing time you come home yourselves got it?". She said putting one hand on her hip and the other on her ear while leaning forward.

"yes ma". They both chorused.

"Good, no dily daly, I don't want you to come home late and give me the excuse that you were going to one friends house or something, you know how dangerous it is nowadays in Lagos, heck not only Lagos the whole country". Their mother warned.

"yes ma, we understand". They both said

"Good, now-" But she didn't get to finish her sentence, as just then the sound of a bus's horn pierced the air.

"BEEP BEEP!!"

"The bus!". They all said aloud and in unison.

"Come on let's go, the bus is here already".

Timothy said, already heading for the door.

"yeah, let's-wait". Suru said suddenly, with a look of realization on his face, before running towards their room, prompting Timothy to reluctantly follow him, all while their mother went to talk to the bus driver.

"oh come on, what now?". Timothy groaned, as he looked at his brother rummaging through their stuff in search of something.

"my handkerchief, I forgot to take it, Infact I always forget to take it but not today". Suru said, his voice oddly filled with determination.

"ugh, why didn't you do this earlier?, now you are going to waste our time!". Timothy complained.

"I was busy.". Suru said simply

Timothy scoffed at that, "yeah right, busy doing nothing". He said under his breath.

"shut up and help me look for it will you, the faster we find it the quicker we can get to your precious school". Suru said rolling his eyes.

"Besides, weren't you against going to school today not to long ago?, what changed?". Suru asked slightly curious about his brother's change of mind.

"Tsk, it's non of your business". Timothy answered quickly, while bending down to help his brother search for his handkerchief.

Suru shrugged, "okay, if you say so". He continued searching for the handkerchief, not putting to much thought on his brothers response and trying to ignore the sound of the bus's horn in the background.

"Aha, I found it!". Suru exclaimed, holding the handkerchief up in the air like a trophy.

"finally, put it in your bag and let's go". Timothy said standing up and soon his brother followed, both of them leaving the room.

"wait, I hope you didn't forget anything else? ". Timothy said to his brother, as they exited the room.

Shaking his head suru replied, "no I did not, but maybe you should cross check your bag, to make sure you have everything you need in there". Said suru, his words eliciting a scoff out of Timothy.

"who do you take me for, you?, ofcourse all my things are complete". Timothy said haughtyly.

"unlike you I actually prepared for today". Timothy said with a smug smile on his face

"wait a minute, what do you mean you prepared for today?". Suru asked confused.

"YOU were the one who was whining about not wanting to go to school today, and now you are telling me you ACTUALLY prepared for it, bullshit". Suru said, eying his brother suspiciously. Timothy noticing the look his brother was giving him, tried ignore it and appear unbothered by his brothers words.

"oh would you stop it with the look". Timothy said, but that did nothing to avert his brothers gaze from him.

"Hey, it's not like I knew we were going to school today, I just decided to be ready just incase and trust me I do not want to be going to school today, but I've got no choice anyway *sigh*".Timothy said, trying to convince his brother of the reasons for his preparation.

Suru not fully convinced, made to speak before the sound of the school bus horn pierced the air once again.

" BEEP BEEP ". It sounded.

" SHIT! ". They said in unison, rushing out of their home immediately and upon geting out of their house or more appropriately their apartment, they are met with the image of both their mom and the bus driver standing infront of them arms crossed.

"Aha, you children sabi waste person time oo". Said the bus driver, uncurling his arms and letting them rest at his side.

"Shey you think say na only you I wan pick today?,*mtchewww *, come on get inside that bus Jor!". He said in pigeon English mixed with an heavy Igbo accent. Kissing his teeth and mumbling complains under his breath, he entered the bus and started the engine.

" Hurry up and get in NOW! ". The bus driver yelled at the sibling duo as they made their way to the bus, causing them to speed up, so as to avoid angering the man any further.

"Wait! ". Called their mother, quickly rushing over to them with a bottle of oil in her hands.

"Ah God, what now?". The bus driver said.

Not bothering to answer the bus driver, Suru and Timothy's mother opened the bottle, dipped her finger in the bottle and proceeded to apply it's contents to their for heads, all while muttering a prayer.

"may the grace of the lord be with you and may he continue to guide you and protect you, amen". After saying that short prayer she bid them farewell and the bus began to move.

-suru-

"*sigh*". It has been quite sometime now since we left home, we've gone to many different locations now to pick up my fellow students but as expected not many people are resuming school on the first day.

'seriously, I don't understand why we couldn't just stay home for today' "*sigh*". I thought, letting out another sigh.

So far the bus only had a total of four people occupying it, exuding the bus driver.

'I mean what's the point of waking us up early in the morning to-'. I frowned, thinking about this morning made me remember the dream I had earlier,it was.... well I don't even know how to discribe it,it was just unlike anything I had ever experienced before.

' it felt more than a dream, it felt real'. I thought, the frown on my face deepening the more I thought about the dream.

'or should I say nightmare, frankly I don't even know what to call it' "*sigh*". I thought, sighing for what I assume must be the tenth time this morning. But I didn't get to stay in my thoughts for to long, as I the bus finally approach our school

"Aah, and so it begins, man I hate school".
