"Ring.. Ring"
The sound of the alarm rang in my ears and it was so annoying. I turned it off as I made my way to the bathroom, when I was done, I walked downstairs only to be greeted with aroma of fried eggs.
I made my way to the kitchen seeing Annabel my bestie and house mate doing what she knows how to do best.
"My super favorite bestie... Damn you are up so early in the morning how do you manage to do that? " I asked her.
"Do you think everyone is as lazy as you.. Hmm? " She replied.
"What! Are you really thinking that am lazy?"
"I don't think Angel, I know that.. Now get your lazy ass to dinning table before I change my mind and eat this meal alone"
"Yeah yeah"
I said as I went to the table.. But seriously her meal was something else that sometimes I wonder if God specially gave her ingredients. Her food was super delicious compared to mine so she usually cooks while I do the chores not that I like to do house chores but I would do anything just to eat the food that Annabel cooks.
After the meal Annabel left for work leaving me alone in the boring house and I had nothing to do so I opened my laptop to see if any of the companies I applied for had considered my application. But there was nothing and I was really getting fed up with living an ordinary kind of life but I couldn't break my promise to my parents.
I wasn't used to living my life like this. Since I was born I had everything I wanted without waste of time, my parents are rich they owned one of the biggest perfume companies in country c. So I had every thing but I wanted to live my own life and prove to my parents that I could succeed the company without their help.
Though my mom talked me out of it but I had already made up my mind and there was no going back so I blocked my account and changed my surname . I didn't want to use my parents money so am staying with my best friend and we share the rent.
But all the company I applied for have not yet given me answers and it's so frustrating.
In the Evening I layed on the couch as I played with my phone. "Any news? " Annabel asked as she dropped her hand bag on the table. "Nope it's still pending" I replied. "You still have a chance to go back home Angel and you know that right.. Why do you want to stay and suffer? "
"Ann I can't believe we are having this conversation right now. You know my answer so don't even mention it again" I said as I Concentrated on my phone.
"Angel you don't even know what you have.
You are waiting for interview from companies while your family has the biggest cosmetics company in country c.. I don't... "
".. Please I don't want to hear it, we have been over this please".
I started feeling annoyed with the way she was going on and on with how wealthy my parents are.
" I know what will cheer you up baby girl.. I got pizza!! "
"Good to know that"
Just then my phone chimed a notification and I opened it in my email as I saw that a company had accepted my application letter. "Yes! I did it.. It worked! " I exclamed.
"Your are lucky" Annabel said as we dived to eat the pizza happily.
"Watch where you are going young lady"
A voice said as I looked up to see the face of the person I bumped into. "Sorry ..sorry" I apologized quickly as I put my phone inside my bag. It's was weekend so I came to get some suitable working clothes for my interview on Monday. Annabel called me in phone telling me that she wasn't coming back home tonight as she wants to spend the weekend in her boyfriends place and I was distracted and didn't look to see who was coming.
"Am sorry" I said apologizing again to the man.
"If you have a bad eyesight get it checked and don't go around bumping into everyone"
A cold voice said from behind the man I was apologizing to as they walked away. I was enraged at that statement. One thing I hated was being insulted especially when I have already apologized. I hurriedly walked to them and I held the arm of the man behind the one I bumped into.
"Excuse me Mr man.. Do you think you can talk to people anyhow you like and walk away.. Well you are wrong because I am not just anybody and it's you who have a bad eye sight".
" Why the hell am I even talking to you. You are nothing but a fucking loser that is what you are. "
The man just stared at me with his cold blue eyes unmoved by what I said and took out a handkerchief from his breast pocket and cleaned his arm as if it has been infected.
This enraged me more but I decided to be calm because I was in public. I hissed at him and walked out reminding myself the reason why I am here in the first place.
"You are smart and intelligent you are just the kind of person we need for this job.. I hope you will meet up to the expectations of this company. Don't disappoint us" A lady spoke to me as I handed my files to her. "Yes ma'am I will do my best" I replied.
"Good, now go to the CEO's office on the tenth floor you will be working as his secretary from now on... Remember to do your best or else you will be fired"
" Noted ma'am "
I walked nervously into the CEO's office not knowing what to expect. This is the first time I would work under someone.
I knocked on the door twice before I entered.
"Did I ask you to come in? " I heard a voice.
I turned around to see my new boss only to be shocked by who I saw... The rude man from the mall some days ago.
Shit! "I asked a question" He repeated coldly without raising his head. "Umm... The door was opened so I.. " I hesitated not knowing what to say. When he raised his head and saw me.. A knowing smile appeared on his face.
"Well well, look who we have here" He said as he walked towards me.
I kept walking backwards until my back hit the wall. At this time I wished the ground will open and swallow me, who would have expected the rude man to be my boss today.
"W.. hat... wh.. at are you doing" I fidgeted as he came so close to me. "Not so bold now are you? "
"I.. I ... This is not right sir you are too close" I said. He brought his lips to my ears and said "I will make sure you get frustrated that you will regret ever crossing paths with me".
