The projector hummed in the dark room. Nate sat at a wooden table, tapping his fingers. He focused on the screen as the first image illuminated the room. A professional nearby delivered the slides calmly, detailing each aspect.
A photograph caught Nate's eye: a young woman with piercing eyes gazed back, her expression calm and understated.
Evangeline Winter
Age: 19
2nd daughter of the Winters family
School: Purple Pearl High, Texas
Studies: BBA, 2nd Year
Location: Texas, USA
The professional elaborated on everything about the mission: "Your target is Evangeline Winter. Your mission is to integrate into her life, charm her, earn her trust, and break her heart. Your final mission is to get her father's business details and get her home without compulsion."
"Your passport, visa, and high school enrollment are finalized. You will arrive in Texas as a transfer student. Your cover details have been uploaded to your secure channel. Damien Blackwood, sir, is in the next room to provide further intelligence. Thank you, sir". His assistant told him everything about the mission, and Nate dismissed him and left the room.
The room fell silent. Evangeline's composed face lingered in Nate's mind, her dark eyes daring him to act. Leaning back, he plotted the mission's complexities.
Nate ran a finger along the table, a smirk on his lips. "Make her to fallen love with me...., It's not that complicated work." Adjusting his leather jacket, he strode toward his father's briefing room.
Nate entered the next room where his father awaited him. His father's gaze was as cold and unforgiving as steel.
Nate approached his voice steady yet filled with resolve. "Dad, I understand about the mission, and I will be with her soon"
His father's expression darkened. "She is our family's enemy, Nate. Don't let your feelings cloud your judgment, be careful with your surroundings. Someone watched every move."
Nate nodded, "Absolutely, Dad! I promise I won't let you down. Once they become an enemy, it stays that way.
" I know you never my son, they have to pay for what they did."
Nate nodded without another word, he turned and left the room, his resolve firm. Hours later, he was on a flight to Texas on his plane, ready to start the mission that would entwine his fate with Evangeline Winter's.
Meanwhile, in a huge house with a lot of security outside, Evangeline tossed a ball up and down in her hands, watching her father reading a document on the sofa.
"Dad, I have a request please try to understand me. I don't want bodyguards. I'm fine on my own. If there's even a problem, I'll just call Max."
Her father, Ethan Winter, shook his head with seriousness. "No, Eve. You don't understand. We have too many business enemies, and I can't be there to watch over you all the time. The guards are there to keep you safe, and they're helpful to you. You don't remember what happened last year?"
"But Dad, I just need some space. I don't want them hovering around me all the time. I want to be alone at home sometimes, bodyguards watching me like I'm some prisoner."
"You know why I do this, Eve. It's not just about your safety, it's about ensuring nothing happens to you. You're not a child anymore but still my daughter."
She sighed, pleading." Dad, just two guards outside the room. I want to be alone inside. It'll be enough. Please."
Ethan hesitated, then nodded. "Alright. Two guards. Call me if anything happens."
Evangeline kissed his dad happily. "It's a deal, That's my sweetest dad."
While Eve and his father exchange their love his mom, "Serena said lunch is ready, sweetheart. Come on, honey!" Her family enjoyed their meal while her mom encouraged her, saying, "Eat well and healthy, don't skip classes, and be home early, Eve," teasing her in between.
Later, Evangeline boarded the plane to Texas, feeling both happy and sad to leave her parents behind.
The next day, fresh air, and sunlight through the window, on the first day of the 5th semester, Evangeline was in her classroom with her two best friends, Lilly and Joe. They engaged in a lively conversation about their holiday experiences and shared the latest gossip. Laughter filled the space, creating a warm atmosphere as time passed. Suddenly, the door swung open, and the professor arrived, marking the beginning of class. After distributing some notes, just before starting the lesson, another figure appeared in the doorway.
A silence enveloped the room as Nate entered. Clad in a crisp white shirt, his tousled hair casually fell over his forehead. His blue eyes surveyed the classroom with confidence. With a defined jawline and towering height of 189 cm, He effortlessly captured everyone's attention. playful smirk curled at the corner of his lips, highlighting his undeniable presence.
The girls in the class couldn't help but whisper among themselves. Wow, he's handsome! one of them said, her eyes wide. "He's mine," another girl teased, while someone else added, No, he's, my husband!
Nate's voice broke through the murmurs as he introduced himself in a confident tone. "My name is Nathaniel Damien Blackwood. I'm from New York."
On the other side, Evangeline's friends, Joe and Lilly, exchanged looks. Joe leaned in and whispered, He's totally my type. Lilly raised an eyebrow, adding, He's every girl's dream.
Evangeline, who had been silently watching, rolled her eyes and sighed, her tone laced with irritation. "Don't judge a book by its cover", a person's appearance doesn't indicate their character.
"It seems like there might be some feelings of jealousy in the air after Joe's teasing."
"It's not really about jealousy, it's just that sometimes, people find it hard to accept certain facts." Lilly said.
"You guys are never chance, get a grip, guys " with an annoying smile Eve.
Nate made his way to the back of the classroom, catching Evangeline's gaze for a moment. Their eyes locked instantly—his smirk remained, while her expression revealed mild irritation. Evangeline rolled her eyes and looked away, her frustration mounting. She had no time for this distraction.
The class went smoothly, every girl in the classroom enjoyed his presence except Evangeline.
At lunch, Evangeline walked with Lilly and Joe to the canteen, laughing and chatting. At the entrance, she spotted a familiar face and hugged him tightly, her smile genuine. Nate watched from across the room, his eyes narrowing as he observed.
Someone then extended a hand to Nate, breaking his focus. "Hey, I'm Mike. I'm new too."
Nate looked at him, giving a brief nod." I'm Nate."
"Are you waiting for someone?" asked Mike
"No, I just walked around the campus and looked for the canteen."
"Oh! Do you wanna join me? ", Mike asked Friendly
Nate is unsure and hesitates, but he has no choice." Uh! Yeah, Sure."
"Why this much hesitation? I know. All the girls' attention is on you. I can see why."
Nate shrugged, his eyes flicking back to Evangeline. "Not all."
Mike smiled, "You sure about that?"
Before Nate could reply, Evangeline's voice rang out, calling over to the guy she'd just hugged. "Hey, Aaron! Long time no see!"
Aaron, "It's been a while. How was your trip to the native?"
"It was great! My mom would love it if you guys came over for the next holiday. You should think about it."
"That sounds like a good idea", Aaron agreed.
Nate watched them and spoke with Mike, curiosity sparking, but someone called out to him before he could think much of it.
"Nate! Hey Nate", The voice was faint but familiar. He turned, his expression shifting to shock as his eyes landed on someone unexpected.
"Kim? Wha.. What the F*ck is he doing here?"
Mike, standing nearby. "Who's that? he asked. You guys know each other?"
