Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

" What!" Both Akaji and Wong shouts at the same time hearing the magistrates words. " Shen!" Wong shouts flicking one of his wrists shattering one of the magistrates walls allowing a Gulfstream of wind to rush into the office.

" You insult me to my face Shen!, the sects mine not yours, so think carefully about this who's more important to your precious town your only protectors or some clanless boy!" He roared.

Much to his credit the magistrate didn't even blink at the destruction of his office wall. He only bowed slightly. " Forgive me sect master but I know not what you mean, Master Wong. I have already thought very carefully. You swore to adhere to my ruling and I swore to prioritize the Thunderfall Sect's disciples to the greatest possible extent. I have gifted your disciples a peer that has proven quite capable, defeating even your star pupil. And with that done, I cannot impose any further penalties upon this young boy."

Magistrate Shen picks his tea up from the table, takes another sip, and looks up at master Wong with a cold smile. "After all, I must prioritize his needs. He is a Thunderfall Sect disciple."

Hearing this Wong fumes. He slams one giant foot down on Akaji's side of the table and shatters the tea kettle hard enough to cover his shirt and face in the steamed liquid.

Wongs head burns red even without any aura active; a vein of pure rage appears on his forehead right above his bulging eyes. It looks like he's so mad he's going to explode. Hells, Akaji thought he might.

But as the seconds crawl by, ever so slowly while he felt the looming threat of death from the enraged sect master, He watched as his anger fades to disbelief when realization dawns on him.

Shen gets up and wipes the sawdust from his lap. "You're a smart man, master Wong. I do not have to spell out that harming your new student, or orchestrating events to lead to his harm, would go against my ruling. As would abandoning your post so long as he is a disciple of the Sect. My ruling you swore upon your soul to uphold. A dangerous thing, such soulbinding oaths. Odd of you to demand one of me."

The remaining anger slowly fades from Wong's face, replaced with resignation. All tension leaves the room and Akaji realizes it wasn't just a tense sensation; Wong had spread his chi throughout the room and was ready to use it until now.

A Technique. He was preparing to kill him But the giant man releases his Technique. His shoulders slump and his eyes cast downward. "This isn't over." Wong growls, then disappears in a flash of green light blurring out through the missing wall.

A distant woman's surprised scream can be heard where he likely landed in someone's yard. Magistrate Shen chuckles and brushes a hand through his long beard. "That will teach him who rules and who serves."

He turns to Ajaji, a renewed vigor in his voice. "Now, shall we retire to the library? The winds of change blow ever onward, but I do not need to feel them upon my neck." He tilts his head towards the giant hole in the wall.

Following behind the magistrate Akaji was still confused as to what had just happened ." Magistrate Shen, what just happened?" He asked. Shen looked back at him " A clever and cunning old man used a boy of great furtune to get what he wanted" he said leading Akaji deeper into the office.

Soon they made their way into a large room filled with tome and scrolls. The magistrate flicks his wrists and lights all the lanterns before sitting down. " Go fetch me the noble caste record's" he stated pointing to a section of the library hefting a heavy large leather tome before the magistrate he opened it and then began explaining.

" Now, let us get to business. No foolish ears remain to hear the truth so we can be blunt," He taps the quill and looks up at Akaji and began explaining. "Wong demanded we use a soul oath to secure your absolute punishment and intended for me to be his puppet in his childish ploy. Such a lack of respect towards my office could not be forgiven. I used your situation to secure Mao's service with his own plan. He is now forced to continue leading the Thunderfall Sect so long as you live, with no more appeasement necessary on my part. Be lucky that you have some very powerful and influential backers who have note only ordered you to be placed in the sect for training but also for you and your family to be elevated to noble caste" he stated surprising Akaji.

There where only seven nobles families in this Provence all with lineages that dated back to the begining of the celestial empire even the magistrate wasn't a noble he was just a representative who was chosen to buy the emporor to oversee this town and now here he was becoming a noble and rising above The Wong's who where a noble families retainers and all the other warrier caste members in the sect but what suprised him the most was the sentence that he powerful backer's.

" Powerful backer's what do you mean honoured magistrate? I'm just a regular peasant farmer how could I have attracted the attention of someone so powerful?" He asked but the magistrate only looked at him.

" Your aura awakening was felt all over the empire boy at first I thought it was Wong's brat but I know for certain it was you after seeing your aura tonight a few days before you awoke I received a letter with clear instructions for you and your future so be thankful boy for someone has seen fit to elevate you" he then looked at Akaji expectantly.

" We'll go on boy tell this one the name of your clan?" He asked. " My clan?" He asked. " Yes you can't be noble caste and not have a clan name so tell me what you wish your clan to be called and what symbol and colours do you wish for your clan?" He asked.

Akaji thought long and hard about it never in his wildest dreams did he ever think that this could have been happening to him. But seeing the magistrates expectant gaze he decides.

" Shiike and our colours will be black and silver with a majestic dragon" he said. The magistrate nods and began scribbling it down before handing him the parchment with a nod. " Good choice Akaji Shiike may the heavens continue to bestow blessings upon you and your new noble clan now get out this old man needs a nap" he said shooing Akaji out the office.

Soon Akaji stood at the steps of the magistrate holding the parchment tightly in his hands he couldn't believe it soon he began laughing and laughing despite the ach in his chest he only clutched at his chest and continued laughing soon he surged his agility core and began soaring home excited to share the news.

As he soared through the air the wind howling in his ears he couldn't keep the smile of his face. " Akaji Shiike patriarch of the noble and soon to be great Shiike clan that has a nicd ring to it" he thought to himself with a grin.

That never left his face as he continued to make his way home.
