Original Name and Creation
Before it became Morrath's stronghold, the castle was called Veltheris Bastion, built centuries ago by the renowned Arcane Sorcerer Valcoryn Draythar. Perched atop jagged cliffs, it served as a fortress and repository for forbidden magical relics under Valcoryn's leadership. As a prominent member of the Arcanite Consortium, he used the Bastion to protect powerful artifacts and knowledge tied to leyline magic.
The Betrayal and Valcoryn's Death
Valcoryn's ambitious apprentice, Malecar Rythen, betrayed him in a bid for power. Malecar allied with rogue mages and mercenaries, exploiting a leyline alignment that weakened the Bastion's defenses. Despite Valcoryn's efforts, Malecar used forbidden magic to drain his life force. Before his death, Valcoryn sealed the castle's greatest treasures in hidden chambers, their locations obscured by intricate wards.
Decline and Morrath's Claim
After Valcoryn's death, Veltheris Bastion was abandoned, its halls whispered to be cursed and haunted. Morrath first claimed the ruined castle during one of the many endgame expansions of Underworld Online, securing it for his guild when the expansion was new. Now, in his second chance at life, he recognizes its potential as both a fortress and a symbol of power. Its hidden routes and secrets, created by Valcoryn, remain locked, waiting for someone capable of unraveling their mysteries.
