Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 The Disheveled Queen

"Dad, how can you do this to me? Don't you consider my feelings at all?" Ouyang Xiaoya asked in disbelief.

"Cough cough, Lin Hai is actually a good person, and very capable. I owe him a huge favor. After thinking about it, it seemed perfect for you two to become a couple. Besides, it took a lot of convincing for him to agree to come back."

"What? Him?" Ouyang Xiaoya absolutely refused to believe that the man before her, with his defeated look, had any capabilities.

"What's wrong? Looking down on your brother?" Lin Hai said with a smile.

Ouyang Xiaoya glared at him fiercely: "None of your business, shut up."

"Dad, don't you consider my feelings at all?" Ouyang Xiaoya was completely scrambled.

"Lin Hai is really a good young man. You'll see when you live with him for a long time. Plus, he just returned and has nowhere to stay, so he can temporarily live with you. After all, you'll be living together eventually, so there's nothing wrong with starting a bit early."

"Dad, I absolutely will not agree to marry him. I can't stand this man, not even for a second," Ouyang Xiaoya said indignantly, looking at Lin Hai.

"Cough cough, I've already made this promise to him. Lin Hai is really a pitiable kid; he lost his parents at an early age and has been drifting all his life. If you really can't accept him, then find a way to make him dislike you. Once he truly hates you, I believe that with his personality, he will leave on his own."

After saying this, Ouyang Tianfeng quietly hung up the phone.

"How about that? Wife, I didn't lie to you, did I?" Lin Hai asked with a laugh, crushing out his cigarette, an action which only deepened Ouyang Xiaoya's disgust.

Suppressing the rage in her heart and forcing herself to stay calm, Ouyang Xiaoya had already decided to come up with a plan to persuade Lin Hai to give up and terminate this marriage arrangement.

"Name your price. How much money will it take for you to drop this?" Ouyang Xiaoya asked coldly, as if she were discussing a business deal.

"Money? I'm not short of money. Wife, once I marry you, won't your money be mine too?" Lin Hai continued chuckling, picking up the teacup she had just used, took a sip, and even smelled the cup: "Tch tch, delicious."

Seeing Lin Hai indulging himself so shamelessly, Ouyang Xiaoya's teeth itched with hatred.

This guy was intolerable, his smug face was utterly shameless. How could there be such a bizarre man in the world, this world is too crazy.

"Wife, I've just returned and don't have much income yet. How about getting me a job?" Lin Hai's words nearly made Ouyang Xiaoya spit blood.

This guy was not only a weirdo, he was also willing to live off a woman. Thinking that her fiancé could be such a loser, Ouyang Xiaoya wished she could just throw herself off a building.

Closing her eyes, she took a deep breath, Ouyang Xiaoya pondered her options. When she opened her eyes again, Lin Hai clearly saw a sharp glint flash by.

"Lin Hai, right?" Ouyang Xiaoya asked, enunciating each word carefully.

"Heh heh, wife, I don't mind if you call me husband, calling me by my name seems so distant," Lin Hai said with a cheeky grin.

This guy! Absolutely! So hateful.

"What kind of job do you want? Education? Major? Skills? Also, why do you want a job?" Ouyang Xiaoya asked with an official demeanor, as if she were a hiring manager.

Lin Hai blew out a puff of smoke heavily, his voice hoarse and deep: "I've been messing around outside for several years and know that society can be very real and cruel. I've just returned to Huadu and don't have much money. I've got to think about getting married and having children, so I need to find a job."

Getting married and having children? Who wants to marry and have children with you! Humph, shameless!

"So, you just came here for me to arrange a job for you?" Ouyang Xiaoya's fingers clutching the teacup trembled slightly, as she fought back the impulse to smash the cup on Lin Hai's head, and asked through gritted teeth.

"Yeah, so you gotta arrange a job for me." Lin Hai stated as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

Sh*t! A freeloading scumbag! Ouyang Xiaoya was like a powder keg filled with explosives, ready to blow at any moment.

The background and status of Ouyang Xiaoya made her unlike most successful Chinese who keep their dissatisfaction hidden. In particular, she despised certain types of men—the kind that she looked down upon the most were those who, despite being able-bodied and young, chose to live off women for materialistic comforts and even thought it was their God-given right. Facing such a man, who was nominally her fiancé, Ouyang Xiaoya was on the brink of exploding.

Moreover, judging by the expression and attitude of Lin Hai, it seemed like he thought being offered a job by her was already a huge favor to her.

Suppressing the urge to blast Lin Hai to smithereens, Ouyang Xiaoya continued, "So, Mr. Lin, what would be your ideal position? Or say, in which department of the company would you like to work?"

Lin Hai took a sip of tea, leaned his head back on the sofa with a satisfied grunt, and replied, "Give me a position like vice president. I'll reluctantly accept that."

Pfft, hearing Lin Hai's answer, Ouyang Xiaoya almost spit blood on her office desk.

Vice president? Is it something you can just become on a whim? What does he take this place for? The vice presidency of a major conglomerate is a position countless people with higher education dream of—and from his appearance, he doesn't look like he's ever attended university; he might even be semi-illiterate.

"Cough cough, what's your educational background? What have you done?" Ouyang Xiaoya inquired about Lin Hai's resume, thinking just to get rid of this guy quickly. She was getting a little exasperated. With such a person, she couldn't hit him, nor could she call the police—it was incredibly frustrating.

"Junior high education, served in the military," Lin Hai's simple reply left Ouyang Xiaoya speechless. He really was semi-illiterate. To someone like her, who studied abroad, junior high education and semi-illiteracy were on the same level.

Ouyang Xiaoya's entire worldview was shattered in front of Lin Hai. This semi-illiterate man actually aspired to be a vice president and even had the audacity to think it was his due. Especially the thought that her fiancé only had a junior high education was something she, with her higher education background, could not accept at all.

At this moment, in her eyes, she had lost all hope for Lin Hai.

"Given that, based on your military experience, you can work as a security guard at the company," Ouyang Xiaoya said indifferently.

Having him as a security guard was already giving him too much credit—who knows what trouble he might stir up.

"What? A security guard?" Lin Hai suddenly stood up, his eyes widened in disbelief as he asked, "You actually want me to be a security guard? Don't tell me it's because I only have a junior high education that you're discriminating?"

Seeing Lin Hai's expression, Ouyang Xiaoya felt quite smug inside. It seemed he was really unhappy about being a security guard. The more dejected Lin Hai was, the more comfortable she felt.

Especially imagining that in the future, this guy, wearing a security uniform and saluting respectfully at the company's entrance, when she walked in, he'd bow and scrape and say, "President, hello," with a disheartened look, Ouyang Xiaoya felt extremely pleased.

"What, you don't want to be a security guard? Well then, the company is also short of a janitor to clean the toilets. You choose for yourself, whether to be a security guard or a janitor?" Ouyang Xiaoya asked coldly, thinking to herself with a secret thrill, think you're tough? You dare to snatch my coffee? You dare to smoke in my office? You dare to use your status as my fiancé to blackmail a job? Fine, I'll let you have it your way. Either do it or scram. If you choose to work, I'll make sure you know that I, Ouyang Xiaoya, the ice queen CEO, am not just a nickname. I definitely won't let you loaf around and be a corporate parasite; prepare for super hell-mode management. If you don't want the job, it's a good chance to scram and completely sever ties with me. I'll have a perfect excuse for my father as well.

"What? A janitor? Isn't that a bit too much?" Lin Hai's eyes bulged, in shock and disbelief, thinking to himself, as the King of Mercenaries who made countless international organizations quake in fear, now assigned to be a toilet-cleaning janitor here? The thought would be simply laughable.

"Mr. Lin, if you're unwilling to do anything, there's nothing I can do. The company doesn't support idlers, and other positions are filled. If you don't want to stay here, feel free to leave on your own. I'll make things clear to my father and from then on, you and I will have no further dealings." Ouyang Xiaoya's beautiful face showed a hint of regret. Indeed, she was regretful—if he left now, she would lose the opportunity to mess with him, and for some reason, the thought of getting back at him was very satisfying.

Lin Hai furrowed his brow, thought for a moment as if he had realized something, then put on a look of resignation, and said calmly, "In that case, I'll be a security guard. There's nothing wrong with that job. Besides, I'm your personal bodyguard, which is sort of like being a security guard."

Ouyang Xiaoya was slightly taken aback, not expecting him to agree so readily. She thought to herself, wait until you officially start working; I'll show you what it means to be fitted with super tight shoes and try out the poison-fighting-poison strategy on you.

"If there is nothing else, then you may go. Report back to me tomorrow," Ouyang Xiaoya waved her little hand, finally dealing with this guy.

Lin Hai lit another cigarette, nodded, stood up, and was about to leave when suddenly, as if he remembered something, he turned back, his large hands rubbing together, and chuckled, "Honey, seeing as I've just come back, I'm unfamiliar with this place and don't have much money on me; could you reimburse me the twenty bucks I spent on the cab ride here?"

"You, you, you!!!" Ouyang Xiaoya was so angry that she gritted her teeth, trembling uncontrollably.
