Later that night, after the cameras had gone and the crowd had dispersed, Sarah and Chris were at home. The house was quiet, just the two of them. Chris had already poured them both a glass of wine, the usual celebratory ritual.
"You were amazing out there," Chris said, his eyes full of admiration. "Another win under your belt."
Sarah smiled, sitting down next to him. "You know, I couldn't do any of this without you. You're always my rock, even when things get crazy."
Chris chuckled, taking a sip of his wine. "I just want you to be happy. But sometimes I feel like I'm just here for the show. I don't get to see you much anymore."
She frowned slightly. "I know. It's been tough lately. The fights are getting harder, the schedule is packed. But you're everything to me, Chris. You know that, right?"
He leaned in and kissed her softly. "I know. Just promise me you won't let all this fame get in the way of what we have. I don't want to just be your cheerleader. I want to be your partner."
"I promise," she whispered, brushing her hand across his cheek. "No matter where this career takes me, you'll always be my number one."
