Chapter 10 - 1.10 - Fall

As Eris dismissed the class, signaling its end. The air around her warped as she strutted out of the classroom. Calia followed every waltz, admiring her thighs as she left the classroom. The next class would be due in an hour, leaving many of the students to their own whims.

She exhaled as the teacher left, her arms were stiff from listening to her on basic combat applications. She was 100% sure that the majority of the context went through both her ears and out. If there absolutely was someone she wanted to fuck, it would have been this woman. The mysterious air she extruded was inhuman and she wanted to touch that.

Hunger was also something she could deal with. Perhaps it was the lack of sexual cravings that put her on the spot, food could be that comfort. But she needed some alone time, and Piper was hopping around her like a wild hare.

She whispered in the girl's ear. "Piper."

"Yeah." She said excitedly.

"Race you to the cafeteria?"

The girl's eyes lit and glowed, and sped out of the classroom without a critical thought. She stood up, the cafeteria would be a small window of peace, something warm in her stomach. Away from the class crowd and cliques that were forming in the class. And whilst she didn't want friends, she knew she needed some allies too. Piper fit the 'friend' role, but perhaps she needed a clique of her own.

Runa and Lunette the girls who were caught doing the deed, were out of the question. They were too clingy, and unfocused. She saw then make out under a desk under the pretense of looking for a lost trinket.

It was admirable in a naughty kind of way. But sloppy.

Clementine, Iolanta, and Octavia were the 'smart' cliques of the class, their focuses were purely academic, and they didn't mingle much with Anora's small army. Eveline, Rosalind, Nyssa, and Vivian were a tight crowd, They seemed too 'normal' for her. They were definitely going to end up in a traditional bride situation, judging by their boy gossip. Which usually went along like this 'Have you seen the youngest ruler of stonekeep, he's so handsome."

Calia couldn't care less about lord stonecock and his riches.

The rest of the girls were similar in that vein, or she really didn't know much about them. One person did catch her attention. Eira, she believed her name was. She sat silently in the corner of the room. With messy bangs obscuring her face, she was as small as Piper was to her, but she was completely closed off.

A loner.

Anora, being Anora, did make occasional fun of her. She could use that, Appeal to her sense of isolation, form a little clique of he own.

Maybe…

Calia stood up, heading out the classroom door, her foot caught something, and in a split second. She flew forward, losing her balance.

She hesitated, in a desperate attempt to catch herself from falling.

It was too late.

She hit the ground with a loud thud. Her palms scraped against the wooden floorboard.

There was silence in the classroom and all stares were upon her. Too many eyes were looking at her like hungry dogs, at the scent of fresh blood.

It was deliberate, the foot that tripped her, an attempt at humiliating her.

She didn't move, she knew she had to, but she lingered on the solid floor. Something makes her resist the thought. Her hands pressed onto the floor.

The air itself seemed to hold its breath. The tension was overwhelming, coiled, and tight.

Something stirred in her, a thrill, she wanted this, it was a perfect illusion, a facade, feigned weakness.

A soft giggle breaks the tension. As if performed. Soft and timed.

Calia looked at the laughter–it was Anora.

Her legs towered over her, body. Her lips curled at the edges.

"Oops," she said. Her tone was off, she wasn't apologetic at all. Just mocking her.

"You should be more observant, Calia." her lips kept parting, forming words that made Calia furious. "A real noble wouldn't clumsily trip over another."

Calia smiled at her, while she lay on the ground squinting her eyes.

Oh, you'll see you bitch, keep playing this game.

Anora's gaze faltered as the two stared at each other, she was waiting for a reaction, a specific response.

Calia doesn't move. She keeps her smile.

Anora winces, uncomfortable. Calia lets the silence suffocate. Then suddenly anora shifted. Just barely, disturbed. A small crack in her demeanor.

Did Anora think she was going to bawl, to cry? For her to stand up, and walk away.

No, I won't play her game.

"Stand up you freak!" One of the twins called out to her. Kam or kara or cum, she didn't differentiate. She gave a glance at the twin, another target after she claims Anora's head.

Metaphorically speaking.

Anora turns away, walking past her. The twins followed. If Anora wanted to be a bully, she was being bad at it. Calia took comfort in the fact that they couldn't directly assault her, the rules were as strict as they got it.

Soft strands whispered against her cheek.

Then a sweet and floral scent of jasmine...

As she attempts to lift herself up a hand is given out to her. Rhiannon is one of Anora's roommates and friends. Her hand was warm and her smile genuine.

"Are you alright?" she asked, genuinely concerned.

Calia hesitates, Anora and Rhiannon, were cousins from a similar branch. Though it seemed only Rhiannon inherited proper manners.

Their eyes meet briefly, and something flickers in Rhiannon's face.

"Perfectly fine, I tend to zone out if I make an accident," Calia scratched her head, playing it off as airheadedness.

"it's not your fault," Rhiannon said with a sad smile.

Anora glanced at Rhiannon, her arms crossed. Rhiannon let go, and Anora' tightened as she walked away.

Interestingly, there was tension, between the two.

And she was going to exploit it. Anora didn't have any etiquette for her supposed nobility, Rhiannon would make a fine ally in the future.

People like Anora could only destroy.

Calia dusted herself off and left the room shortly after.

She shook her head, she needed to focus. Perhaps not fleeing was the real mistake, she was being seduced by her own delusions. So many women were here, and she wanted to touch and feel and deflower them all.

She already spotted a few potential 'love interests'. But it was the teacher's which excited her most. Magic did wonders for one's youth they did not look a day older than twenty.

Anora, however, will get the stick treatment soon enough. She'll bonk over the head, and throw her into the trashcan, beautiful as she was. She'll make sure of it. Blackmail, defamation, false accusations, she was not above it. She was going to survive here, and she was going to get the fuck away from her arranged marriage.

****

Calia left for the hallway. She spotted the gothic teacher strolling past, her focus narrow. Eyes locked forward like it was glue.

She needed to meet up with Piper, yet there was still time. The teacher maneuvered past the growing crowd of students, slipping like jelly.

Then she shifted passed a corridor, sleekly, avoiding all missteps on high heels brisk walking even. An impressive sight to behold, and a skill to learn. Her dark hair caught the light rays of the sun, it seemed she didn't like that, moving into the shadows every time.

Perhaps she liked unburnt skin?

She wasn't heading to the dorms, but an abandoned part of the academy, to one of the most empty compartments.

Calia made a choice.

And she follows. Shifting wall to wall, pretending to do nothing but waste her time. Silent as a shadow. Every step forward was one step away from her peers and into the unknown. Danger, thrill, anticipation. She had never seen Miralyn linger around here.

Eris steps into a dark room at the end of a quiet hall. She disappears into the darkness. The curiosity dawns on her, she is eager to find, out. She walks by peering inside.

Nothing but darkness. An empty window, No inner doors, just old dusty bookshelves.

No Eris.

She was gone.

Did she teleport

There inside, among the bookshelves, something caught her eye. It was a purplish book, bound in black leather. Old and aged. Untouched by time, it had a faint glow. Something pulls her in closer, and closer, her legs twist on her own, she is drawn to it, an invisible force, pressing her ribs, calling inwards.

She stops in front of the entrance.

"Watcha doin?"

Calia jumps. It was Piper, sneaking up on her again, panic goes through her head.

She spins and slams herself against the hallway wall.

The girl stood amused. Loud and happy.

"Nothing!" she said quickly and defensively.

Piper teased her with her eyes. Piper knew she was snooping.

"Okay, then, if you say so..."

Calia exhales.

"You said we'd go to the cafeteria earlier, you lied."

Calia disagreed.

"No, I got sidetracked, I was on my way. Let's go there right now," she tried shifting the subject. "You think Yana and Sylphia are from classes..."

As they walked back.

She felt her mind trapped. The book, it's feeling, forbidden, it whispered to her.

Fuck the rules.

She was coming back tonight.
