Chapter 56 - Chapter 54: Zhao Yue’s Past

The group continued their journey, the fiery aura of Mei Lan blending with the icy calm of Ling'er, the radiant light of Renxue, the natural grace of Yueling, and the shadowy mystery of Zhao Yue. Yet despite their shared victories, tension lingered between them, particularly with Zhao Yue.

The shadow goddess often kept to herself, her violet eyes distant as if haunted by memories. Mei Lan, new to the group, noticed the unease.

"Zhao Yue," Mei Lan said one evening as they rested near a celestial spring. "You fight with power and precision, but your heart is heavy. What burdens you?"

Zhao Yue's gaze remained fixed on the water, her reflection flickering like a shadow in the light. "It's not something I wish to discuss."

Xiao Tian, overhearing the exchange, approached and sat beside her. "Zhao Yue, we're a team now. Whatever it is, we'll face it together."

For a moment, silence hung between them. Then, with a deep breath, Zhao Yue began to speak.

The Shadow God's Betrayal

"Before I was exiled, I was the Goddess of Shadows in the God Realm," Zhao Yue explained, her voice low but steady. "I ruled over the domain of balance, ensuring that light and darkness coexisted. But I was betrayed."

Her hands clenched as she continued. "The Shadow God, my mentor and the one who helped me ascend, framed me for a crime I didn't commit. He accused me of disrupting the balance by consuming the light of weaker gods. The council believed him, and I was cast out, stripped of my title."

Ling'er frowned, her icy aura flaring. "Why would he do that?"

Zhao Yue's violet eyes darkened. "Because he wanted my domain. He sought to corrupt the balance, to plunge the God Realm into eternal darkness."

Mei Lan's flames flickered with indignation. "And he succeeded in taking your place?"

"Yes," Zhao Yue said bitterly. "But his corruption is spreading. Even now, I can feel his influence growing stronger. If left unchecked, he'll bring chaos to the God Realm."

Xiao Tian's Resolve

Xiao Tian placed a reassuring hand on Zhao Yue's shoulder. "Then we'll stop him. You're not alone in this fight anymore."

Zhao Yue looked at him, surprise flickering in her eyes. "Why would you risk that? He's powerful, far beyond what we've faced so far."

Xiao Tian's gaze was steady. "Because I believe in you. You're a part of this team, and we protect our own."

The system chimed:

For the first time, Zhao Yue smiled, a small but genuine expression that softened her usually stern demeanor. "Thank you, Xiao Tian. If we face him together, perhaps I can reclaim what I've lost."

The Shadow God's Warning

As the group prepared to rest, a chilling aura enveloped the area. The shadows around them deepened unnaturally, and a voice echoed through the darkness.

"Zhao Yue," the voice drawled, cold and mocking. "I see you've found new pawns to play with. Do you think they can save you?"

Zhao Yue's eyes widened. "It's him. The Shadow God."

The figure of a tall man with obsidian armor and glowing crimson eyes emerged from the darkness. His presence was overwhelming, even for Xiao Tian.

"You've made it this far, but it will end soon," the Shadow God sneered. "Your trials are futile. The God Realm belongs to me now."

Xiao Tian stepped forward, his aura flaring with divine power. "We'll see about that. You'll face judgment for what you've done."

The Shadow God chuckled. "Bold words. I look forward to watching you fail."

With that, the darkness dissipated, leaving the group shaken but more determined than ever.

Strengthening Bonds

As the night grew quiet again, Xiao Tian turned to his companions. "We have a new enemy, but we'll face him together. Each of you is vital to this journey."

Mei Lan smirked. "You've got a way with words, don't you? Fine, I'm in."

Ling'er nodded, her icy gaze resolute. "We'll stand by you."

Renxue stepped closer to Xiao Tian, her golden aura glowing softly. "No matter what."

Yueling smiled, her gentle demeanor hiding the fierce resolve within. "We're a team."

Zhao Yue looked at them, her heart swelling with a mixture of gratitude and hope. For the first time in years, she felt like she belonged.

As the group rested, their bonds deepened, and the path to the next trial became clear. The Shadow God loomed on the horizon, but Xiao Tian's determination burned brighter than ever.
