Chapter 21 - Cafeteria on the rooftop

Silas's POV

"By the way, Nekol, why didn't you come sooner?"

I asked because Nekol was late, and I had every right to question him. He was walking ahead of me, chatting with someone on his phone. He turned back and glanced at me.

"To be honest, I forgot about you."

"Huh?! Are you kidding me? How can you forget about me?"

"Sorry, next time I won't forget. Let's go eat something on the rooftop."

I didn't understand what he meant by eating on the rooftop. We didn't have anything in our hands, so what were we supposed to eat? Air?

I wanted to say this to Nekol, but obviously, I didn't. I remained silent. As soon as we reached the rooftop, I was surprised to see a cafeteria-style restaurant with many trainees and actors eating there.

"Wow, I didn't know there was a place like this here."

"Silas, you just arrived today. There are still many things you haven't seen yet… Let's enjoy the food first because I haven't had breakfast today."

We both sat down, and Nekol went to get the food while I stayed seated.

Pouting, I looked around. Even though we were on the rooftop, it didn't feel like one at all. The place had a ceiling, making it look just like a regular cafeteria.

Various conversations filled the air—some friends were eating together, some were discussing scripts, and others were talking about acting. I didn't have any friends, so I just sat there, watching them.

Then I noticed something unusual. The scent of omegas' pheromones filled the air.

Why the hell are omegas releasing their pheromones when there are so many alphas around? But whatever… It's none of my concern.

Just then, Nekol returned with a tray carrying two portions of food. He placed the plates in front of us.

There was a bowl of ramen, a two-patty hamburger, and fried rice—it all looked so delicious that I was literally drooling. Each portion also had a bottle of milk.

I glanced around to see if others were eating the same thing while grabbing my hamburger and taking a bite.

But no one else was eating what Nekol and I were having.

I leaned slightly toward Nekol and whispered, "Why is everyone eating something different from us?"

"Because there's an option to pick whatever we like. I just got what I wanted, Silas, so eat quietly like a good boy."

Whatever. I'm not a picky eater anyway.

So I started eating, and Nekol did too. The food was so delicious that I felt like I was in heaven. This was the best meal I had ever tasted.

"Mmm… So tasty," I mumbled, enjoying the food.

But for some reason, I couldn't talk to Nekol the way I talked to others. He was just a round-glasses-wearing nerd who didn't even speak while eating. Still, at least he was there with me, so I wasn't completely alone.

Just then, I heard the cafeteria door slam open. Without stopping my eating, I turned back. Three guys walked in. From their posture and presence, I could tell they were alphas.

As I looked at them, our eyes met. I quickly looked down and focused on my food. I didn't want to attract any unnecessary trouble.

I started taking big bites, keeping my gaze down, when I noticed shoes stopping beside me.

Two people stood there.

I knew it—this was why I avoided eye contact. And yet, here we go again.

I looked up. A blonde-haired guy with fair skin stood beside me, staring. His looks were average, but his presence was anything but.

"Hey, you're new here, right? A newbie?" the blondie asked.

I glanced at Nekol for guidance, but he was looking down, appearing even more awkward and nervous than me.

Yeah, he's an introvert. No chance he's going to help me here.

So I turned back to the blondie and gave him a polite smile. "Yes, my name is Silas."

"Oh, you're cute… By the way, you're single, right? You don't have a mate yet. Wanna date me?"

What?! A direct confession?!

As soon as he said that, the entire cafeteria erupted in cheers.

"Wooooohoooo!"

"Ohhh, a proposal! Accept him already—no one is better than him!"

"We're rooting for you!"

Are these people crazy or something? They don't even know that this is the first time I'm meeting this guy, yet they're cheering for me to accept his proposal?! Like hell!

I suddenly stood up, slamming both hands on the table. The loud sound silenced the entire cafeteria. Then, I took a step toward the blondie.

"Listen, blondie, you're really handsome, but I am no match for you."

His eyes widened. "What?"

"Can't you hear, blondie? I'm not good for you. I think you'll find someone better, so I can't accept your proposal."

While cracking my neck, I added, "So let's drop it, alright?"

His expression darkened. "Do you think I'm a joke? How dare you insult me like this?!" he suddenly shouted.

"Hey, blondie, don't shout! It's not like I can't hear you, idiot."

I covered my ears with both hands. Damn, does he have a microphone in his throat or what?

He didn't say anything after that, so I assumed he had understood what I was trying to tell him. I turned back toward my chair, about to sit down—

Then suddenly, he kicked my chair.

And then he kicked me in the waist.

I lost my balance and fell hard onto the ground.
