This volume serves as bank of knowledge for almost everything Athalor chronicles related. Having said that, this chapter will include spoilers. this information will slowly be revealed throughout the novel, any new information will be replicated here.

Luminous Brand- Luminous brands are the source of special powers in Athalor. These brands most commonly manifest at the age of 12-16 when the soul is the most vulnerable. A luminous brand can be manifested randomly alternatively, one can be manifested after receiving a blessing from one of the divine or profane. No two abilities that a Luminous Brand gives you are the same.

Brand Rank- there are 7 ranks that your soul can possess, 6 ranks exclusive to a Branded core. One can advance their Luminous brand to the next rank by obtaining knowledge about their Luminous brand. The rank of their brand can also be identified by it's color, each new rank gives your luminous brand an additional ability

example:

Unmarked-white (normal human)

Branded-Grey (can conjure and direct conjured fire) 

Awakened-Yellow +(Can control fire within a large area)

?-Red +(gives creatures you conjure with your fire a form of sentience)

?-Cyan +(Your fire now burns with hugely increased intensity)

Luminous-Siver +(gains near omnipotent control of all fire within an area)

Divine/Corrupt-gold/black +(Your fire can now burn through essence threads)

Essence Threads- Essence threads are the building blocks of Athalor. everything living and not are made up of essence threads. these threads can only been seen by ones with unique luminous brands or ones that have been blessed by the divine or profane

Athalor- this is the world of this novel. there are three continents. Aetheris, Varnorath, and the Divine Continent. each of these continents are infested with creatures, the former two are home to the largest human fortresses.
