Folin ro Men — the third son of a great duke, infamously known as the "disgrace of the family." He possesses no magical abilities, no swordsmanship skills, and lacks the wit to handle administrative affairs. As a result, he was sent to govern the remote northern lands, where winter reigns nearly all year, and the sun graces the land for only three months during summer. The harsh climate makes farming impossible, forcing the city to rely on imported food. However, the lands are rich in natural resources, keeping the local economy afloat.
I've learned all this about Folin ro Men. And now, I'm supposed to live his life. His body may be frail and neglected, but I'll have to change that.
(A knock on the door.)
Folin: Enter.
(Leon, the butler, steps in.)
Leon: My apologies, Lord Folin, but your fiancée has arrived.
(Leon is the butler and assistant to the duke's third son. Though he appears to be an ordinary man, in the empire, he's regarded as remarkably capable.)
Folin (surprised): Fiancée? I don't recall having a fiancée.
Leon: My lord, it is Lady Eliana of Count Walter's house. Your marriage was arranged by your families during your childhood.
Folin (thinking): So, it seems I'll need to learn more about this man's life and those around him. What could have brought her here at such a time?
Folin: Very well, Leon. Invite Lady Eliana to the drawing room. I'll join her shortly.
Leon: As you wish, my lord.
(Leon leaves, leaving Folin alone with his thoughts.)
Folin (thinking): If I'm going to live this life, I need to figure out how to use the resources of these lands and build relationships with those around me. Perhaps meeting Eliana will be the first step toward change.
(Folin gets up, tidies himself, and heads toward the drawing room, ready to meet his fiancée and begin a new chapter in his life.)
