Chapter 1 - The Weak Zane Adams

The lunchtime bell rang throughout the school. Zane Adams closed the book he was reading as he picked up his lunch box. It was time for him to return to class for lessons as before.

Currently, Zane was on the school roof alone during every lunch break. He hated the cafeteria because it was crowded with people, and he didn't like being in class because of Aaron's group. The best option was to be on the school roof, safe from anyone who could bully him.

The 17-year-old boy with a height of 181 cm stepped off the school roof by walking down the stairs.

Among the students in his class, Zane was one of the most unathletic. His sports grades were almost minus; his life was filled with nothing but textbooks and novels.

That's right! Novels became a comfort for Zane in the midst of sadness about his life. For some reason, he had a wild imagination whenever he read a fictional paragraph. It was enough to make him relaxed and peaceful.

"He's coming!"

Zane saw his classroom from afar. To his surprise, he opened the door, and a bucket of dirty water was tied to a rope held by a young man, Nick.

Nick let go of the rope and allowed the bucket hanging just above the door to splash all over Zane's body, making his books wet and the bucket stuck on Zane's head.

"HAHA!"

"Surprise, sucker. You've been reading those useless things so much that you forgot to take a shower," Aaron insulted; he stepped closer to Zane while lifting the bucket slowly, "Thank us, loser. We helped you take a shower."

"HAHA! Look at his face. He's almost crying."

"This is the first time I've seen a high schooler cry like a baby."

"Scream out loud, girl. Go to your mom and hide under her skirt," Aaron scolded.

Zane looked sharply ahead, looking at Aaron, who was directly ahead of him. His wet novel book fell down; Aaron realized it and saw Zane's hands clenched tightly.

Aaron grinned, pushing Zane's body while challenging the loser to a fight.

"Come here. Let me feel your bitch punch," Aaron ordered, patting his cheeks to show that he was ready to take a punch from Zane.

Zane needed to get his pride back. His heart had been burning with so much vengeance and anger that he wanted to kill Aaron and his gang.

Yet, Aaron's body was twice as big as Zane's, so it was impossible for him to hit him easily.

"GO! Are you scared, you loser?!" snapped Aaron.

"HYAAA!"

The young man clenched his fists and dashed forward, about to punch Aaron hard in the face. However, what Zane feared happened.

The fist from his hand had no significant impact on Aaron's athletic body. The young man formed his body in such a way because he joined the school rugby club. Naturally, his body was as hard as a rock.

"That's it?"

"WEAK!" shouted Aaron, swinging his arms and pushing Zane firmly backward.

The blow was enough to leave Zane's mouth and cheek bruised. Zane's body bounced so far that he fell flat on his back on the wet classroom floor.

Aaron laughed loudly, pointing at Zane disdainfully as he called him the biggest loser in the school.

The classroom door opened, a girl stepped in and saw Zane lying helplessly on the floor in a mess. The other students in the class laughed loudly at him; the girl suspected that Zane had been bullied again by Aaron and his gang.

"Aaron!" she shouted.

"Diana?" asked Aaron, surprised to see Diana had returned.

Diana, a blonde girl with a beautiful face and fair skin, has a height of 178 cm and a medium breast size.

Aaron clucked his tongue to see Diana coming; he had never expected that Diana would catch him off guard.

"You?! I warned you not to bully Zane, but what happened? You keep doing it like it's your daily thing," Diana insisted.

"We were just playing with him; you don't have to be so worried, Diana," Aaron said.

"Playing? I don't see anyone playing here. I don't see—"

BUZZ!

A buzzing sound rang out in the classroom, making all the students inside have to cover their ears to prevent them from being damaged.

Surprisingly, a magic circle appeared mysteriously on the floor of the classroom. People panicked. Zane got up from his lying position and walked to the corner of the room, avoiding any flaming objects that might be dangerous.

FLASH!

In a brief flash of light, Zane and the other students in the classroom transmigrated to a specific place they never knew before.

The bright flashes of light faded away and were replaced with a castle-like hall area similar to those pictured in medieval times. Zane squinted, catching a glimpse of what the surrounding area looked like.

Several knights wore iron armor and held their sharp spears. Ten knights were guarding the hall, while seven witches were standing in a circular formation.

As Zane and the others appeared and were right in the center of the circular formation, a man in a noble shirt stepped from the back row of witches.

He wore a red feathered robe and a crown on his head; he was escorted by two women with beautiful faces who appeared to be wearing gorgeous dresses.

"Welcome to the Noir Kingdom, Chosen Heroes," announced the King of the Noir Kingdom, Alexander.

'Noir Kingdom?' asked Zane, feeling familiar.

"We called you here because we need your help," Alexander replied.

"Our kingdom is experiencing a severe war crisis. Demon armies are slowly entering our borders, and we can't handle it well," Alexander replied.

"We called you because we believe you can help us a lot, and that's because you're the chosen ones," Alexander revealed.

Zane scanned the surrounding area to try to figure out what was going on. However, some parts seemed to remind Zane of a story he had once read.

"To see your overall ranking, you must activate this magic slip by touching its center," Alexander explained.

Everyone got one magic slip, and some asked what the overall ranking meant. Queen Yelena explained the meaning of the overall ranking to them.

"We call it OVR. OVR is determined by the ability points you get and your accumulated rank skill scores," Yelena explained, displaying a blue holographic panel before all the students, showing the rank skills in this magical world.

"The lowest is Rank F skill while the highest is SSS," Yelena explained; all students quickly understood that.

"While OVR is divided into F to S."

The students understood, even though some did not agree to transmigrate to this place. The students put their fingers on the magic slip circle one by one. Their OVR rank numbers appeared on top of the magic slip, making the situation noisy.

"Aaron got an A rank OVR. That's awesome."

"I got a rank B OVR. That seems to be the average OVR of the students."

"Look! Diana got the highest OVR rank, S rank!"

The atmosphere was loud. One by one, they tried to check their friends' OVR ranks. Zane was the last to try.

When he placed his thumb on the circle of the magic slip, the rank panel appeared above it and surprised many people, focusing all their attention on Zane.

"Rank minus F? What does it mean? I thought the lowest rank was F," Zane asked, confused.

"This is a rare case. It means the magic system has detected that you're the weakest of the weak," explained Alexander, squinting.

"HAHAHA!"

Everyone laughed insultingly at Zane. Again, he was getting the short end of the stick from them. The magic slip had gone wrong; Zane couldn't have gotten such a weak ability.

Diana felt empathy for Zane. She tried to step closer to the young man to calm him down, but her friend Alisha held her back as it would reflect badly on her reputation.

"Let go of me, Alisha," Diana pleaded.

"Don't interfere with his problems. It's more than you can handle," Alisha explained.

"But he cannot—"

"Listen to me, all of you!" insisted King Alexander, breaking the silence and drawing everyone's attention to him.

"We don't accept weaklings here. Weak people only cause trouble for others."

"Zane Adams!" declared King Alexander, reaching out a hand towards Zane.

Instantly, a red magic circle appeared under Zane's feet, startling the young man as the magic circle made it difficult for him to leave. Diana tried to help, but Alexander forbade her by threatening her.

"Whoever helps him will suffer the same as him!" declared Alexander.

Diana fell silent. Aaron smiled, grinning, realizing his victory over Diana from Zane.

"And you, weakling!"

"I banished you to the Demon Desert. Do not ever set foot in my glorious palace again!"
