Chapter 1 - A Wish

As the sun shines on the Forest of Lucus, the birds chirp with beautiful symphonies and the flowers bloom with great colors. Alas, this serenity is disturbed by a piercing scream. A bloodied man getting chased down by a pack of dire wolves for he is their prey.

"Someone anyone, please help me" the man shouts into the distance hoping for a chance that someone can hear him and get to his aid in time.

"Why are they so persistent", he whispers to himself as he runs across the wilderness, through leaves and bushes, and above rocks and puddles. He doesn't know that dire wolves are excellent hunters known for tiring their prey first before ending it.

Along the distance, he approaches the end of his journey. Now standing between a cliffside and a pack of hungry wolves he frantically looks around in hopes of finding something that could aid him in his peril. He picks up a big stone with sharp edges flailing it wildly at the wolves while screaming at the top of his lungs praying he can scare them away. As the wolves draw nearer and the distance between him and the cliff grows shorter, he panics and throws the stone at the wolves leading to one of them lunging at him directing them off the cliff to their presumed end.

"It's getting too cold Sovereign how about we head back?" says Sonny to Sovereign, patting his back. "Yeah, I suppose so we should head back, I hate the cold anyway." Sovereign answers, and turns on his phone to call for a ride. It was a cold gloomy day, the snow rests on the sides of the road making it quite slippery and dangerous for the unaware.

"So, who's going to pay this time?" Sovereign chuckles while looking at his empty wallet. Sonny sighs fondly at Sovereign, he puts his arm around him and pulls him closer "You know you can't rely on your big brother forever little one.". Sovereign stares at Sonny with a disgusted face "Did you just call me little one?" Sonny laughs hysterically just in time as their ride arrives.

It was a quiet ride, as the brothers reached home, Sonny opened the black wooden door of their simple apartment and waited for Sovereign to enter "I feel hungry, hey buddy how about we order some pizza?". "I don't have an appetite," says Sovereign dismissing Sonny as he goes in and enters his room followed by him closing the door. "I hope this kid is alright, maybe one day he will stop worrying me," Sonny says to himself as he throws his body on the black comfy couch sitting in the middle of the living room.

It was he who raised his brother after all. At 15 years old he took this responsibility when their parents died in a horrific car crash. It was tough raising a 3-year-old alone but luckily their parents left them a sizable inheritance that was able to keep them on their feet.

Turning on his computer, Sovereign feels quite disinterested in his mundane life. He scratches his head and then looks up to the roof of his room. It's a small room with white walls, a single white bed, a small brown dresser, and a black desk. He believes that there is more to life than this.

"Can I call this living?" Sovereign thinks to himself while leaning from his desk chair. He starts watching a fantasy movie that was trending at the time. As time passes characters in the movie show incredible feats of strength while wielding mystical powers. He develops a sense of envy. The dullness of life grows heavier and all the more overwhelming on his consciousness.

"This isn't enough." Sovereign mutters under his breath. "I wish life had more thrill, I wish I had immense power, and I wish the world was more magical!" Sovereign exclaims while extending his hands up in the air, trying to grasp something he can't. "Whom am I kidding," Sovereign mumbles while dropping his hands down. "Well I am getting hungry, I hope Sonny did order pizza," Sovereign thinks to himself as he is about to get off his chair.

Suddenly an overwhelming presence was felt in the room, Sovereign froze in his place confused at what was going on. "I have heard your plea, it shall be answered" a Conquering voice echoed across the room then disappeared without a trace.

"What was tha-" Sovereign said as he felt an immense crushing pain in his chest. He shrieked in agony, alerting Sonny who was sleeping on the couch inside the living room. He came rushing into the room only to find Sovereign on the floor in a fetal position unresponsive. "Sovereign! Sovereign! what's goin on?!" Sonny yelled while trying to wake his brother up. "Yo Buddy this is not funny wake up," Sonny says as tears start streaming down his face. He flips Sovereign on his back, only for his brother's body to get hotter, so hot it burns Sonny's hands. As Sonny rushes to call for an ambulance, Sovereign shrieks once again, now his flesh melting and flames erupt out of his eyes, mouth, and fingernails. His ribs liquified exposing his heart getting engulfed in crimson flame, he shrieks one last time before disappearing into an infernal blaze. Sonny then rushes back into his brother's room waiting for emergency services only to find a charred room and his brother nowhere in sight.
