Chapter 4 - looking for a clue 2

"After the meeting, I pondered what I had just heard. I wondered what Beverly would think if she heard this.

Meanwhile, I checked my phone and found a message from Sean (one of my many admirers and business partners). It read, 'I'd love to have dinner with you on Friday. We can discuss business. I would be delighted if you agree to this.'

Why can't men stay away from me? How is it that a restaurant is considered better than a conference meeting for business?

I ignored the message and continued with my work."

"Later, when I returned from work, I noticed that a family had moved into my house. I don't feel comfortable with it, but it was Beverly's suggestion. She said it's better to have neighbors.

When I finally got into my apartment, I called Beverly to update her on everything that had happened today. She was shocked when she heard about the address and encouraged me to check the area to see if I might find any clues about what was going on. I agreed to do so.

I told her about Sean, and she mentioned that he's a nice guy (since he's her cousin) and suggested I go on a date with him. "Katie, you need to loosen up," she said. "Not all men are the same. Get some fresh air and understand what it means to be loved."

"I'm trying, but it's really difficult, especially when the people I knew and loved when I was younger neglected me," I replied.

"You know, you haven't been on a date before, except for business ones," she said. "But I'd advise you to give it a try with Sean."

"That reminds me, my tenants have arrived," I said.

"Wow, that's great news! I hope you're happy," she responded.

"Honestly, I'm not, but it is a big change," I replied."

"We exchanged good nights, and I glanced through my email.

The next day, I called Mark, my logistics head of department, and asked him to inquire about the area. I also mentioned that I would like to accompany him on a site visit, but it would have to be in the next two weeks. We agreed on that.

Rose has decided to take a week's leave starting Friday, and I wonder how I will manage without her. For the first time since she started working with me, I realized that she has always been by my side, always helping me—but that's what I pay her for. 'Okay,' I said to her, though in my heart, I didn't want her to leave.

'I hope you have a suitable person to take over for the week.'

'Yes, ma'am. Olivia will be here, and I trust her,' she replied."
