Chapter 10 - 10: Pinnacle and Base Tethers.

Vastarael continued to look at his Pinnacle Tethers.

In Spheraphase, abilities were known as Tethers. For them, there are two types of Tethers; Pinnacle and Base Tethers.

Pinnacle Tethers are the main ability or abilities they possess and the Base Tethers are not as powerful as they look. They are still powerful but do not have a lot of impact compared to Pinnacle Tethers.

_____

[Circlecraft, First Star: Base Tether.]

[Your mastery over magical symbols and runes allows you to create circles. The more complex the Circle, the more powerful the effect. You can seal, enhance or alter mysticism.]

______

Vastarael knew about Circlecraft. This is why he asked his mother to teach him about Xinoraci runes.

He realized that most of the Richinarias are mystic weapon masters.

That means that they can use both mysticism and fight using the sword. In Spheraphase, magic and mana is used only by the Mortals.

For the Immortals, they use mysticism and essence. It's similar to magic and mana but purer and stronger.

And Circlecraft is the ability to create mystic circles. This is an extremely rare ability very few mages have. Since he knew that he would inherit the mage and sword bloodline of his family, he studied the runes and about Circlemancy, which is summoning mystic circles.

But never did he think that he would be able to create them instead.

'With this, I can craft my own circles and use them. Alright, let's see the second.'

______

[Rune Drawing, Base Tether.]

[ The ability to draw powerful runes onto objects, imbuing them with specific abilities or commands. These runes can protect, strengthen, or even curse, depending on your intent.]

______

This was like a very powerful catalyst of Circlecraft.

Mystic circles uses runes and symbols for them to work. Now that he can create them, having the power to draw runes was going to be extremely helpful.

_______

[Crystal Materialization, Principal Tether.]

[You can materialize crystals, a unique, ethereal substance that embodies your essence. It has properties of slight invulnerability, enhanced physical strength and magical conductivity, able to enhance your body.]

_____

'So that was the blue crystal covering the hall during my ascension,' he thought. 'Not bad.'

_____

[Phaenora, Companion.]

[An Omniscient who gives you the ability to absorb knowledge from the world around you. She provides you with the capacity to appraise any object, person, or phenomenon, understand the true nature of things and establish deep connections with entities or locations.]

_____

"This is you, right?"

She system did not answer.

"Your name is Phaenora and an Omniscient. Huh. Wonder what that is."

____

[Memory Implantation and Extraction, Base Tether]

[You can implant or extract memories from others. Whether used for information gathering or extraction, this ability plays a crucial role in your control and interactions with others.]

_____

These were the abilities that Thyrexxa gave him. He was glad though. With these, he had a very good foundation. Even he wasted an entire year sleeping, he was still glad that it wasn't for nothing.

But the thought of being betrothed did not sit right in his mind.

"Alright. Let's see what is my Principal Tether," he said. "Sure, Crystal Materialization is good but this one is definitely more powerful than the rest."

When he saw the ability, he blinked in shock.

"What the fu..."

____

[Omniphage, True Principal Tether]

[A powerful, unique ability that allows you to consume and absorb energy in the atmosphere.]

[Omniphage grants you the ability to absorb any form of energy, be it natural energy, essence, mana, miasma. You cannot absorb divine or demonic energy. It will be converted into your body into essence.]

____

In short, this was an absolute broken ability for a mage.

What is a mage's weakness?

Lacking energy to conduct their magic or mysticism.

Well, Omniphage removes that possibility. When he runs out of energy in his body, then he can be able to absorb energy form the atmosphere and use it.

Even though it would take time to renew himself, it was still a good ability.

He then looked at one thing that he wanted to know ever since he knew the status of his parents.

_____

[Divinities:]

[Love (Major Divinity)]

[You embody the concept of love in its purest form—unconditional, selfless, and unconditional. Your presence brings warmth and connection but this divinity also ties you to the emotional turbulence of love's extremes: passion, pain, and sacrifice.]

[Justice (Major Divinity)]

[You are a vessel of righteous judgment and fairness, both in thought and action. You instinctively work toward balance and moral rectitude, though this can create internal conflict between your emotions and the demands of justice.]

[Protection (Major Divinity)]

[You possesses the divine ability to protect and shield others, amplifying his physical defenses and enhancing your ability to safeguard those he loves. However, your own safety is often jeopardized as a result of his duty to defend.]

_______

He was silent for a while.

The three ideals—Love, Justice, and Protection—felt foreign and strangely mocking in the face of his past.

He exhaled, leaning back against the bed frame, his mind pulling him deeper into his memories, to the places where he had failed, to the moments when he should have been better, stronger, and braver.

He closed his eyes, trying to focus. And as he did, he could almost feel the presence of the divinities themselves, like an ethereal force surrounding him.

And in that moment, Vastarael understood why he had been chosen for these divinities.

They were burdens and ideals that the universe demanded he carry, whether he was ready or not.

Love, Justice, and Protection were the forces that had been absent from his life, the things he had longed for, but could never fully embrace.

The divinities were not just gifts. They were responsibilities. And he would be bound to them forever, whether he liked it or not.

He sighed deeply, rubbing his temples, the weight of it all pressing down on him.

"How ironic. I'm representing the same things that I never accomplished. Seems that I can't even escape the past in a new life, huh..."

He looked at his last divinity.

_____

[Water (Minor Divinity)]

[You can manipulate, create and control water. This is a divinity you inherited from your own mother.]

[YOU CANNOT USE YOUR DIVINITIES EXCEPT WATER UNTIL YOU ACCOMPLISH CERTAIN ACCOMPLISHMENTS. YOU WILL UNLOCK ONE OF THEM WHEN YOU REACH MATURITY.]

_____

He looked at the bold letters and narrowed his eyes.

"So they're sealed until I reach seventeen," he sighed. "And I'm sure it won't be easy accomplishing them. Alright. Let's look at the others."

This was the second shock he received after seeing his divinities.

_____

[Boon: Ethereal Beauty]

[Effect: Vastarael's beauty is more than a mere physical trait. It grants him an aura of charisma and influence that shapes the way others view him. His presence commands attention and his charm opens doors that would otherwise remain closed.]

[Bane: Trouble In Paradise.]

[Effect: Women, whether by fate or circumstance, are bound to Vastarael's journey. His connections with women will always have profound consequences, often complicating his missions and hindering his progress.]

[Destiny: Suffering Before Reward.]

[He will always suffer greatly before being rewarded: His journey will be fraught with suffering, loss, and hardship. Only after experiencing immense pain and sacrifice will he be granted the rewards he seeks. This will test his resolve, his ability to endure and ultimately, the worthiness of his future rewards.]

[Fate: A Death In The Embrace Of Love.]

[Vastarael's end is intertwined with love, though tragically, it will be the person he cares for the most who brings about his demise. His fate is sealed in this heartbreaking conclusion, an inevitable tragedy that will come to pass, no matter the efforts to avoid it.]

______

He focused on all of them. The information Thyrexxa hid from his was visible now.

His destiny changed. He didn't have any of the three options but instead, carved out a fourth one.

But it left a bitter taste in his lips.

"This is bullshit. Now I understand why all those people died when being reincarnated."

Somehow, his Destiny and Bane were even worse than his Fate.

He wanted to have a second chance at life but even life hated his own existence.

Now, he had a new resolve.

He had to survive, get stronger and make sure that no matter what, he would save his own people on Earth.

He didn't know how but he was sure about one thing.

If the universe gave him the Divinity of Justice and Protection, it was obvious that he would be going back to Earth soon.

And this time, he would be strong enough to protect the ones he lost.
