I slowly opened my eyes as some stray rays of sunlight fell on my face. When I looked to my right I saw a window which was letting the sunlight in and realized that this wasn't my room.
I looked around frantically, my breathing heavy and uneven. "What? Wh…where am I?" I whispered harshly, my voice trembling as I tried to make my surroundings, which looked increasingly unfamiliar the more I looked at them.
I had no idea how I got here.
Glancing down at myself, my eyes widened in shock, almost comically so. My body—it wasn't mine. I was shorter, much shorter, and my frame felt frail, like that of a child. What the hell was going on?
I scrambled out of the bed, my movements clumsy as I adjusted to my new form. That's when I noticed them—other people, sleeping soundly in their own beds. Most of them looked to be about my age—or at least, the age I seemed to be now.
My heart raced as panic threatened to take over, but I forced myself to stop and think. "Stay calm," I whispered to myself, glancing around nervously. The last thing I needed was to wake everyone up. Whatever was happening, I'd figure it out—but not by drawing attention to myself.
I started to get bits of information about who I was before this when I had realized—I had died.
My name was Nicholas Argo. I was a sophomore in high school and was relatively poor as I had been orphaned at a young age.
So obviously I got bullied.
I have had them for as long as I can remember—when one goes away another 2 take their place.
I was verbally abused a lot especially in my freshman year and was picked on for my interests.
I was a bit of a nerd and an otaku who found solace in games and anime.
This was my life until I got locked into a burning science lab by those bastards.
I died shortly after.
Now though I have a second chance basically reincarnation.
I had watched a lot of anime about stuff like this (basically isekai) and felt like I had to make the most out of this one.
But my main priority now is to confirm if it is some kind of magical world or just a regular one.
Since there were a lot of people sleeping in just one room I figured it was an orphanage—which means I am without parents in this life too…Now that I think about it—it would have been awkward having parents as I had no experience about how to handle it from my past life.
I sat upright on my bed and tried to search my mind to see if the previous occupant has any memories regarding the orphanage I'm in.

After some time trying to medidate (and failing) I finally found who I was (this is so confusing).
My name here is Tatsumi and have lived here for my whole life and am currently 12 years old.
I have 2 friends named Kai and Nya who are siblings. They are the only ones who interact with me apart from the matron who is fond of me.
But the most incredible thing is….
Pokemon EXIST in this world.
This meant I could become a Pokemon trainer and explore the world with them on my side and even become a Pokemon master.
I am currently in the Kanto region in Viridian city which is a good thing because I know about this region best.
The way the league works and how the world is here is completely different than what it was portrayed like in the anime. It's a lot more deadly and realistic and you can only become a trainer or just own a Pokemon at 13.
The world itself is also 4 times bigger than earth and most of it is still unexplored.
For reference Kanto is slightly bigger than Russia(the biggest country in the world) and they haven't even discovered approximately 60% of the world.
People and Pokemon dying is a common occurrence and not out of place. Teams like team Rocket are a lot more dangerous and have committed war crimes.
Weirdly enough despite all these factors I still wholeheartedly wanted to be a trainer and I was gonna be damned if I let some danger get in my way.
Pokemon and trainers also have classified ranks here.
Pokemon ranks:
————————————————————————————————————
1) Common (Lvl 1-10)
2) Uncommon (Lvl 11-20)
3) Rare (Lvl 21-30)
4) Veteran (Lvl 31-50 )
5) King(Lvl 51-60)
6) Heavenly (Lvl 61-70)
7) Champion (Lvl 71-90)
8) Master (Lvl91-99)
9) God (Lvl 100)
Trainer ranks:
————————————————————————————————————
1) Rookie trainer (Need at least 1 common)
2) Intermediate trainer (Need at least 1 uncommon)
3) Advanced trainer (Need at least 1 rare)-(Need 2 badges)
4) Veteran trainer (Need at least 3 veteran)-(Need 5 badges)
5) Pseudo-Elite trainer (Need at least 2 King)-(Need 8 badges and participate in the League circuit)
6) Elite trainer (Need at least 4 Heavenly) (Win the circuit at least once)
7) Champion trainer (Need at least 3 champion) (Beat the elite 4 and the champion)
8) Pokemon Master (Need at least 1 Master) (Become champion of all regions)

They have a completely different ranking system than in the games but they do have levels.
This initially confused me until I found out that Prof.Oak's Pokédex here can also measure a Pokémon's level and rank based on their aura and physical features but can't measure anything above champion rank since their aura might be too strong or they can just hide it and seem like a common rank Pokemon. Experienced trainers who have aura abilities can also do this but the Pokédex is more convenient for ordinary people.
But you're gonna have to be part of his lab to get one as it is not commercially available—and it is an extremely difficult process to part of it.
Now I was going to my memories more until I heard a voice.
"WOW…never thought I would see the day where you woke up late" said an unfamiliar voice.
I opened my eyes and looked to my right where I saw a boy with straight black unrulyhair that spilled across his forehead, he had a slight tan. With crimson red eyes that shone with mischief, he looked at me with a flashy smile.
"Can't a guy just a little rest in? It's not illegal you know" I replied but I was nervous internally since I had only seen him in my memories.
"Whatever…The matron told me to wake you up cause it's your turn to help make breakfast. Besides we are going to the Pokemon league today." Kai said excitedly.
"Oh shoot! I almost forgot—give me 5 minutes to freshen up."
When I reached the bathroom—I finally took a look at my self in the mirror.
I was around 5'2 foot with lean muscular build with slightly defined muscles. I had pale skin despite the amount of time I spent outside, as I brought myself to look up at the mirror…. I saw a young boy's face which was on it's transition to manhood, I stared at the my own eyes that were dark, darker than the night… along with messy jet black hair that seemed impossible to tame.
Now I wasn't surprised as I had seen him waking up early and training his body as he wanted to be a strong Pokemon trainer. Except I had pale skin despite going out a lot—same thing like Kai I guess.
Speaking of my old self—I felt bad as he had a bright future ahead of him and I just stole his body. This body stealing process makes me really guilty for what I had no choice in.
I got rid of these thoughts and started to freshen up.

It's been a few hours and all the orphanage children including me, are going to the Pokemon league as a field trip.
The matron had been impressed with my cooking as the previous occupant had been horrible at it and I had experience from before. Nevertheless I also bumped into Nya, Kai's sister and realized why I (my previous self?) had a crush on her.
She had flowing violet hair that resembled the waves of the sea, her pretty oval face that was having the beginnings of young beautiful woman. Her warm smile could brighten everyone she meets, her mesmerizing dark blue eyes which looked like pools of mirth, that twinkled with mischief and joy whenever she smiled.
"Are you as excited as I am Tatsumi? I hope we are lucky enough to see some water type Pokemon." She smiled brightly.
For the rest of the bus ride she and Kai were talking about what we would see in league while my mind was somewhere else.
I was nervous as one of the members of the league could use a psychic type Pokemon to read my mind and uncover my secrets. Now I am not exactly sure if they could read minds but I'm not gonna risk anything, so I have to be as inconspicuous as possible.
That being said if they do decide to read my mind from the get go—I wouldn't be able to do anything to stop them, so I'm just going to pray to Arceus they don't.
The Pokemon league has a vast amount of influence spreading to almost every region. While the government—yes there is a government here too but it mainly deals in human matters and their powers are limited to human matters and only have recognizable power in minor regions.
The league on the other hand has branches in every single major region and have existed for centuries building their power over time and have the people's trust.
They control all Pokemon centers, marts and the registration of Pokemon and the licensing of trainers.
Their main base is located at indigo plateau where we're heading towards right now and are also a completely different entity from the champion and elite 4 who are the ones who have the most control over a region, but that doesn't mean that either can be taken down easily even by team rocket.
I was suddenly interrupted by Kai who wanted to play fire-water-grass with me and before you ask it's just rock-paper-scissors but with different symbols.
————————————————————————————————————
It took us around 7 hours to get there and all of us were bored as hell the entire way through. Honestly I pity our caretakers who had to listen to children bitching about for so long but hey—I'm glad that's not my problem.
We were quickly escorted out of the bus as the driver most likely had enough of us and were quickly greeted by a woman who was dressed like a secretary.
"Hello everyone, this is the Pokemon league—the most secure place in the known world. Now we are counting on you to be the next generation who take us to greater heights. Now let's first go to the main building, keep in mind we have a very special here to meet you at the end. Also Single file please."
We all followed her discussing excitedly while Nya and I were talking about what we would see while Kai was already jumping around.
We both laughed at his antics and were amazed by the sheer size of the building.
We saw many people walking around with their pokemon out. Luckily I saw that most of them were Kanto and Johto Pokemon and there wasn't any that didn't know.
We saw some Pokemon farms as well as arena for battling. There were many facilities and departments as well. There was also a department for registration of Pokemon licenses.
"Here we register new trainers as well as update their ranks. For example the Advanced rank. You need to have at least 1 rare level Pokemon as well as have at least 6 badges. Now the higher rank you are the more benefits you get like entering certain restricted areas as well as access to more items and missions from the mission department." Said the guide.
(AN: I will make an auxiliary chapter for the trainer and Pokemon rankings.)
Then she showed us all the other jobs we could take in the future like being a ranger, despite it all sounding interesting I was firm in my decision to be a Pokemon trainer as did Kai and Nya them wanting to be Fire and Water type trainers respectively.
"Now for the final event. We will all witness a fight between 2 Pseudo-Elite ranked trainers. Now go sit on that row over there and prepare to watch the most intense battle you have ever seen."
