"I can believe you really swiped all the jam from the pantry".
I doubled over in laughter as I and Ethan ran across the pack home into the woods and headed to our spot there. We called it our spot because as far as we knew, only us knew where it was located. It had a beautiful scenery with wild rose bushes, flowers and even a flowing stream we often splashed in.
"What's on your mind Anna?"
Ethan asked jolting me from my thoughts
"Oh nothing, I was just thinking of how we would have to go back to those boring four walls of school once again".
I sighed wistfully.
"You know that you have to go to school, the Alpha wouldn't even hear anything of you dropping out and traveling the world".
Ethan yapped on, he had become so not reckless and mature since he started hanging out Sky to train moons ago and now he was all about the right thing to do and duty and bla bla bla
"Arghh, Ethan, you're soo boring ".
I groaned and splashed water at him grinning cheekily as his face contorted in a smile .
" You didn't just do that, Anna".
Ethan bellowed as he set out after me, splashing me with water as I let out loud shrieks in between laughter, we ran for a while before I slumped on the grass in a fit of giggles.
"Okay, okay, you've got me", I giggled as Ethan slumped beside me.
I entwined our fingers together as we looked up at the sky in silence.
"I'm going to miss you, Ethan", I whispered as a stray tear rolled down my already wet cheek mixing with the water.
"I too, Anna, I too. But I'll be back very soon, it's just for a few moons".
Ethan said ,but I was still filled with dread about his departure with uncle Luke and Sky to settle sime pack disputes in the north.
"I don't even know why you need to go, at least Sky is going as training to be the Alpha after dad, there's enough time for you to train to be his Beta later", I sulked.
"Alanna, rules are rules. Okay? I'll be back as soon as soon as possible"
Ethan said in that his end of argument voice.
Four years Later....

"You're going to be very late to school, Alanna",.
Mum said as I bounded downstairs, swiping my keys from the table and a piece of toast .
"Aren't you going to sit down and have breakfast?" Mum asked as I gulped down a glass of orange juice to polish off the toast, grabbing an apple and taking a bite from it, smiling widely.
"Nope mum, I'm already late", I said as my mum laughed,.
"When have you ever cared of that before".
She asked, shaking her head fondly,
"Happy birthday my sweet little pup",.
She continued as she hugged me , my grin widening .
it was finally my eighteenth birthday, I was finally going to shift, and if possibly find my mate, nothing could wipe off the smile on my face right now.
"Your dad had to go deal with some pack matters, it seems the undead have been breaking the treaty and causing trouble"
Mum said, a crease appearing on her forehead
"it is okay, I'll just see him when I get back from school, okay"
I said with a reassuring tone
"Gotta go now, see you later", I shouted as I ran out the door, throwing my bag into my convertible, I slid in, stepped on the gas and zoomed off.
I drove into the already filled parking lot, and found a parking spot luckily, I grabbed my bag and walked towards the doors of the school building , suddenly I was toppled nearly to the floor as Karla let out a loud shriek .
"Happy birthday Lanna, this is like the birthday of your life, you're finally gonna get shagged ".
Karla said wiggling her eyebrows as I pushed her off me and struggled to regain my stance.
I grinned back at her, my best friend was the most energetic person I had ever met in my life, though sometimes she could be so exhausting but on days like this, it was thrilling,.
"I know , I can't wait, I've a really good feeling about this".
I said with a wide grin as Karla entwined our arms and we walked along the hallways to our lockers that were beside each other, all thanks to Karla hounding the school secretary till poor Mrs Maria could take it no more and had to give in.
Karla just had a way of getting whatever she wanted, I laughed softly but just in my head
"Who do you think could be a potential mate for you" Karla asked me jumbling my thoughts.
"Uhm", I paused, "I actually don't know , I've not paid any attention to the wolve boys in our school, they all seem kinda scrawny, what do you think?"
I asked Karla who joined me as we glanced from one boy to the other.
"Heyy, what about the Lycans" Karla whispered excitedly.
I rolled my eyes at her enthusiasm.
"That can never even ever happen, they are so out of our league, for one they are Lycan's , they are different from us regular wolves, like they are direct descendants of the moon goddess .
And also they are bigger, faster, fiercer, smarter than even our strongest Alphas and have you heard of the way they kill, like machines, I tell you, machines. And just see how attractive they look in their human form, they don't even look real, they look ethereal".
I said with a sigh as I looked at the four Lycans that had transferred here last summer they always kept to themselves and never mingled with the humans, the most they even did with the werewolves was close to nothing.
I guess when your kind is the ruler, the rest of us seem nothing compared to them.
"Quit staring at them, they are looking back"
Karla nudged me but not fast enough before I locked eyes with one of the Lycans .
He had long thick black hair tied at the nape of his neck, he looked so beautiful, his eyes glittered under the light that I couldn't get the exact colour of them and his physique.
I gasped as Karla nudged me again
"Are you mad?, Where you just having a staring contest with Xavier?".
Karla asked in an incredulous tone.
"uhm, no I wasn't and how do you know his name is Xavier".
I mumbled as I grabbed a book from my locker slamming it shut.
"Sometimes, I wonder if you really attend this school, and how many times I have to tell you, okay, listen up, there are two Lycan twins Alexander and Alexandrine, the red heads and you'd know how rare that is as Lycan's have only one kid so the moon goddess must have been really generous with their parents.
Then you have ,Xavier,who you were staring at and oogling so shamelessly and his closest friend Valentino.
There's the speculation that Alexandrine and Valentino are probably mates but then you know how fortunate the moon goddess made the Lycans that they don't have assigned mates and can choose their own mates , so no one knows for sure.
Alexander is a known play boy but you see Xavier, no one knows anything about him, he's like a ghost, no speculations, nothing at all"
Karla said all these with one breath.
She grinned at me pleased with herself for being so knowledgeable about them.
"I still don't get how you manage to know so much gossip but fail to even get any of your school work in your head"
I scoffed as I ziped up my back pack, swung it over my shoulders and slammed my locker.
"Come on, Karla, let's get to class", I told her laughing at her scrunched up face
"The school work just doesn't seem to sticks nd I think I've an affinity for gossip. Do you think I can start a gossip column in the mundane paper"
Karla asked with all seriousness as I burst out in laughter
"I think the mundanes are starting to rub off on you" I giggled as she chased after me.
As I ran down the hallways trying to lose Karla I bumped into a hard surface or chest.
I looked up to see Xavier , one of the Lycans, I gasped as moved back so quickly that I fell on my butt.
"Ouch" I muttered scowling up at him and stretching my hand out for him to help me up.
My jaw dropped when the asshole crossed over me not even bothering to check if I'm okay.
"Asshole"
I muttered as I dusted myself.
Suddenly I was pushed to the locker, dark gold eyes staring at me
"What the fuck did you just say?" Xavier asked very pissed.
