Chinny's POV
After our fun weekends, we're back to chaotic reality. A few weeks have passed, and Kilorn and I haven't spoken. I don't even know the reason why he needed space.
"Chinny, I need space. Don't ask why because you can't help."
See! He didn't even tell me the reason behind his need for space. If I had to guess, maybe he's flirting with someone else. Kilorn was known as a playboy. But many people say he seems to be changing because of me.
I leaned against a tree in this mini forest, wanting to relax. I'm already spacing out.
"Chinny," I saw Angelo holding a McDonald's paper bag. "I brought you food because you didn't eat this morning, so you're going to eat now before your class starts." I rolled my eyes at him; I didn't even know why he kept trying.
He sat beside me and started unpacking the food he bought individually.
"You're already skinny, and now you're not eating properly," he said, frowning. Although I was annoyed with him, I sometimes felt sorry for him because my actions hurt him.
"You don't need to do this. I won't die even if I don't eat." I heard him sigh.
"Yeah, right. You won't die, but you might go crazy. So, should I go ahead and reserve a room for you at a mental institution? Damn!" I was surprised when he cursed. He clenched his jaw. "I'm still your husband. I love you and hate seeing you miserable because of your breakup with Kilorn. Even if they leave you, I won't. I'll take care of you and love you. It's a promise I can't break since your parents entrusted you to me." He smiled bitterly.
My heart melted. Why is this happening? I can feel his sincerity.
He loves me even though I keep hurting him. He's acting like a martyr.
I reluctantly ate the takeout he brought. He smiled as I ate.
Am I the one going crazy? Or is he already losing it?
"Don't smile like that; you look like an idiot," I said as I took another bite. He frowned and then gave me a wide smile.
"Why? Is my smile making you fall for me?" I rolled my eyes at his stupid question. "I'll keep smiling so you'll fall for me, Chinny. You're no longer a princess but my queen." My jaw dropped at his words. My heart started racing.
I need to see a specialist.
He laughed because of the expression I showed. I shoved a chicken wing into his mouth to shut him up. Is it me, or am I just now realizing how cute he is?
"You're still my wife. Nothing can change that," he said after removing the piece of chicken from his mouth.
I felt lighter because he made me smile.
"Gelo," we stopped laughing. We both looked up. It was Jessa. "Karma is looking for you. She said you need to talk." Angelo glanced at me.
"Let's go home together, okay?" I nodded at him. "I love you, Chinny." I flinched when he kissed my forehead.
Holy Cheese! That's my favorite sweet gesture—a kiss on the forehead. It makes my heart beat faster.
Angelo left, and the witch, Jessa, stood before me, staring. I noticed her sharp gaze.
"Why do you keep making him hope?" she asked dramatically. I frowned. "He's not a napkin you can use as a rebound."
Damn! The nerve. She turned her back on me like that. I massaged my temples. Did I give Angelo false hope? Did I use him as a rebound? I raised my eyebrow, but I never gave Angelo mixed signals. That bitch irritates me, and one thing is for sure one more annoying ginger-head girl named Jessa ruins my day. I'll ensure Jessa is devoured by Farley's dog, which is as big as a human. I headed straight to the classroom after discovering Angelo was inspecting every class. As a board director of the University, he ensured everything was flawless.s. Class dismissal came, and we were supposed to go home together.
"I d—"
"Gelo, I love you!" My eyeballs almost fell out of their sockets when I heard Jessa shout as I reached the classroom door. I peeked through the slightly open door. They were standing face-to-face, arguing. Good grief! Jessa should be embarrassed; her eww saliva might spray on Angelo's face. Did she just confess?
"Don't force something unwanted. You'll only hurt yourself," Angelo said calmly, but you could hear the weight in his words. So, this wasn't Jessa's first confession?
I know eavesdropping is terrible, but I couldn't help it. It's not my fault I overheard their conversation. I was about to leave, but Jessa's response stopped me.
"I know. Love me so I won't get hurt."
Her words made my blood boil.
"You're just confused because—"
"That's in the past, Gelo. My feelings have changed. I want you, that's all." My chest tightened. "She's making you her option. Ditch her for me."
That was my cue. I felt possessed by an evil spirit. The green monster that had hidden within me was slowly awakening.
They were both shocked when I entered. Their eyes went wide.
"Witch! Do you want Gelo to ditch me? In your dreams, in your freaking dreams, Jessa. My nude lipstick feels ashamed of the thickness of your face. Why are you dictating Gelo's heart to love me? You're just jealous because the person you like doesn't love you. I know Gelo's and your point. I don't need to spell it out. If Gelo loves me and he's willing to wait even without a guarantee that he'll win my heart—" I closed my eyes tightly. Damn! Too much emotion is flooding me. "Stop forcing it, Jessa. Next time, I'll feed you to Farley's dog."
"I'm sorry, it's only Chinny—always has been and always will be," Angelo said. His words secretly made me smile but also confused me about my feelings.
What's happening? Am I falling for this guy?
Angelo looked at me and smiled. "It will always be you."
