Chapter 41 - Chapter 41: The Secret of the Device

"This place isn't suitable for talking. Let's find a more private spot."

Blake glanced around at the adventurers filled with various negative emotions before gently pulling his left hand from Ais's soft grip and spoke.

"Mm."

Upon hearing this, Ais's golden eyes flickered with even stronger anticipation, as Blake had not refused her request.

"Bla...ke..."

Hestia pouted, looking as if she wanted to say something but hesitated. Though she didn't know what kind of power Blake had, she was certain it was strong. Otherwise, the Sword Princess wouldn't be bowing down to ask for guidance. If he really taught Ais this power, perhaps the entire Loki Familia would learn it, which wasn't something Hestia wanted to see.

However, recalling how Ais had helped them with no grudges and with such sincerity, Hestia couldn't bring herself to say anything more.

"Hehe, although you rejected me, this sincerity is pretty good. It's such a shame to have you with the little one."

Loki chuckled, her tone full of mischief. While she hadn't succeeded in recruiting Blake, she thought this was still a good outcome.

"You!"

Hestia immediately glared at her, and Loki shot a retort in return.

Seeing this, Blake could only shake his head helplessly before leading the Sword Princess out of the guild, leaving the two goddesses to argue as long as they didn't fight.

As for the Amazon sisters, they were considerate enough to block the adventurers in the guild to prevent them from eavesdropping.

---

"You see, the power I used wasn't a skill."

Once they were in a more private area, Blake turned to face the eagerly awaiting Ais and began explaining, while also handing her two black-and-white rings.

(N: calling it as Sprirt Gear instead as Device in Danmachi world)

"This is the effect of Spirit Gear The Judgment Rings. The black [Ring of Sin] absorbs the opponent's power, and the white [Ring of Punishment] releases the absorbed power. This is how I was able to match you."

[Ring of Sin], [Ring of Punishment]...

Ais took the two rings, which radiated strange energy, into her hands, murmuring as her golden eyes glimmered slightly, as if recalling their brief clash from last night.

"If you like them, I'll give them to you as my apology."

Seeing Ais intently examining the two rings, Blake spoke gently, his voice warm. Though the Spirit Gear was very useful to him, he valued keeping his promises more. Besides, trading a Spirit Gear for Ais's goodwill seemed like a good deal.

"This is yours. I can't take it. A new adventurer, the dungeon is very dangerous."

Ais shook her head and placed the rings back, her tone carrying a hint of reluctance.

"Well, that's it for today. If you have any difficulties in the future, feel free to find me."

Blake put the rings back on and smiled appreciatively at Ais before speaking with calm confidence.

"Mm."

Ais nodded to Blake and then took him back to the guild, directly dragging the noisy Loki away.

"Blake, see you next time~"

The Amazon sisters gave Blake a flirtatious wink before following Loki.

"Hey, Blake, what did the Sword Princess talk to you about?"

Hestia immediately ran over and hugged Blake's arm, asking with curiosity. There was an odd sound of something being compressed, which left people imagining what was going on.

The other adventurers in the guild also watched curiously, their minds filled with confusion, wondering what Blake and the Sword Princess had talked about, or what special techniques he might have taught her.

"Mm, nothing much. Just that I offered her an apology gift, but she turned me down."

Sitting on a nearby seat, Blake rubbed his face as he spoke.

"Hmph, Ais is such a good girl. It's such a pity that she went to Loki's Familia."

Upon hearing this, Hestia cheerfully wrapped her arms around Blake's right arm, swinging her legs in delight. It was great that he hadn't lost out, and today, she had finally scored a victory over Loki, which made her feel so relieved.

"Solving things peacefully is really great, isn't it?"

At that moment, a girl in uniform sat down across from Blake and Hestia, speaking in a gentle tone that conveyed a sense of maturity, which made people feel at ease.

"Eina, my apologies, I didn't acknowledge you earlier. You helped me by speaking up for me."

Blake turned his attention to the half-elf girl, feeling guilty as he spoke. Eina had helped vouch for him earlier, and he felt a bit apologetic.

"It's no problem. Icefen, I'm your advisor, so it's only natural to help you."

Upon hearing this, Eina smiled warmly.

"Half-elf, this is my Blake! Don't call him by his name so casually!"

Hestia immediately exploded upon hearing Eina's words, her jealousy flooding the air. The Sword Princess had already addressed Blake by name, and now there was someone else seemingly trying to steal him. She simply couldn't stand it.

"Eina, it's fine. It's how we address people back home."

With a hint of helplessness, Blake gently pressed his hand against Hestia's silky hair and spoke warmly.

"Here, Blake, these are the safety precautions adventurers should keep in mind. I hope you remember them, because it could be very dangerous otherwise. I don't want someone as young as you dying in the Dungeon."

As she watched Blake comforting Hestia, Eina, with her green eyes flickering, handed over a document.

Seeing this, Blake took the document and began reading. Although he had watched the anime in his previous life, he knew that anime and reality differed, and there were many things left unexplained. So, he didn't arrogantly dismiss the document. Information is important no matter which world you are in.

As he carefully read the document and chatted occasionally with Eina, Blake didn't notice a tall, lean adventurer standing a few meters away, greedily staring at the black-and-white rings on his fingers. The adventurer then left the guild.

His hearing had always been extraordinary, capable of catching even the smallest details. Even though they were speaking behind the guild's walls, he had heard every word of Blake's mysterious conversation with the sword princess!

He knew he had to get the rings that allowed a rookie adventurer to fight against a sword princess!
