Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 His First Mate is a Human

When Raymond entered me, I was overwhelmed and on the verge of crying out.

He leaned in close, his breath warm against my ear as he gently nipped my earlobe. "Don't hold back," he whispered.

I couldn't help it; broken moans escaped my mouth uncontrollably.

I can't put into words the feeling that rushed from my feet, up my spine, and to my head. It wasn't just physical pleasure. It felt like our souls were merging.

An overwhelming desire to be one with him consumed me.

Does this mean I have a mate?

It was an experience I'd never had before.

That night, we were wild, and afterward, I could barely stay awake. My head was spinning, and by the end, I was so drained that I could hardly respond to Raymond.

I vaguely remember him lifting me, carrying me to the bathroom, and the warm water washing over me as I drifted into exhaustion.

I had sweet dreams the whole night.

When I woke up the next morning, the first thing I saw was Raymond's handsome face. What happened last night suddenly came to my mind, and I couldn't help but smile.

It had been a wild night.

My waist was aching slightly, and I turned to look at Raymond beside me. His face was calm and striking—thick brows, long lashes resting softly, and a defined jawline that added to his quiet confidence.

With his dark hair and chiseled face, he looked like a Greek statue.

I reached out and traced the curve of his face with my fingers.

Before I could pull away, he grabbed my hand. Without opening his eyes, he brought my hand to his lips, pressing a soft kiss to my palm.

"I caught someone sneaking," Raymond murmured, his voice rough and tired.

His voice sent a shiver through me, deep and soothing in a way that made my chest tighten.

"I was just touching," I said with a playful grin.

Raymond smelled incredible—not like soap after a shower, but the natural scent of his pheromones as my mate, undeniably and irresistibly alluring.

Raymond propped himself up with one arm, his eyes softening as he held my chin and kissed me.

This kiss wasn't about desire—it was tender, filled with unspoken affection and longing.

It felt like we were lost in each other, savoring the deeper connection than anything physical.

We only pulled away when Shay knocked on the door to ask if we wanted breakfast.

I rested in Raymond's arms and couldn't help laughing.

"What's so funny?" He pinched my nose.

"Everything feels like a dream. If Beth saw this, she'd be mad."

Raymond narrowed his eyes slightly and pinched my nose, making it hard to breathe. "Am I your tool?"

"Of course not! You're my husband..." I blurted out.

Satisfied, he let go and kissed my cheek. "Though, being your tool wouldn't be so bad."

The thought of taking Raymond to the Fang Pack brought a playful thrill. I pictured myself walking in, declaring proudly, "Look, my husband's handsome—and by the way, he's the mafia boss, Alpha Raymond."

"Sounds great, but I wouldn't do that," I said, shaking my head. "You have things you want to keep hidden, and so do I."

"So, are you going to the pack's friendship gathering next week?"

"Yeah, but..." I paused, surprised. "How did you know that?"

"You were planning to never tell me and go alone."

He saw through my plan. "I didn't want to drag you into this," I admitted.

"Let's go together," he said, his tone steady. "You didn't notice—it's a masked ball."

"But they'll still recognize you."

"No one will," Raymond reassured me. "Don't worry."

He leaned in and kissed my forehead gently. "Now, get up. I have to head out soon, and you should rest a bit more today."

As he stood, the sunlight came through the curtains, outlining his silhouette. His shoulders were broad, and his waist tapered naturally, the definition in his muscles easy to notice.

When he turned, the way he carried himself seemed casual yet confident, drawing my attention without trying.

I rested my chin on my hands and watched him go into the bathroom.

After lying there for a while, I finally got up and went downstairs in my pajamas.

The table was set, and the smell of fresh bread and butter filled the air, brightening my mood.

Raymond came out soon after, wearing a suit. He skipped the tie and the top button of his shirt was undone, giving him a bit rogue look.

Shay smiled as she came over. "Sir, your breakfast is ready and waiting in the car."

Raymond looked at me. "Wait for me at home."

"Wait a minute," I called out, hurrying to the door. I stood on tiptoe, grabbed his collar, and kissed him on the corner of his mouth. "A goodbye kiss."

It was just an excuse to kiss him.

He smiled, ruffled my hair gently, grabbed his wheelchair, and left.

Shay looked at me with eyes full of love and curiosity. "Your smile hasn't faded all morning, my dear Luna."

I liked the way she called me Luna. "So, is everyone here one of Raymond's pack?"

The thought hit me suddenly, and a feeling of disappointment came over me. I might be the only one who wasn't.

"You are, too, dear," Shay reassured me. "But because of Alpha Raymond's position, you can't live with the pack just yet." She sighed, her voice carrying a hint of regret.

I shook my head. "I don't mind."

Curious, I asked, "Can you tell me more about him? His personality? Anything else?"

Shay smiled. "Where should I start? I only decided to follow Alpha Raymond after, but I've heard he changed a lot after that incident."

"That incident?" I asked.

"At that time, Alpha Raymond had already decided to marry his first mate..." Shay hesitated, realizing what she'd said. She quickly covered her mouth. "Sorry..."

I smiled, shaking my head. "It's okay. I don't mind—it's his past. Can you tell me more?"

Shay paused, then said slowly. "They were about to marry, but then Alpha Raymond went missing. By the time anyone noticed, he had... betrayed his mate."

I frowned. "Betrayed?"

"Someone plotted against him," Shay explained, her tone heavy. "It was also the day his parents died. After that, he withdrew. No one could tell what he was thinking anymore."

Raymond had mentioned some of this before. I thought for a moment and asked, "What kind of person was his first mate?"

Shay gave me a regretful smile. "I'm not sure, but I know she was human."

Her words brought back a memory I hadn't thought about in a while—a night when I, too, had been set up by a stranger.

But...

A thought crossed my mind, sending a chill down my spine.

I shook my head. It couldn't be possible—the coincidence was too far-fetched.

Besides, I had never seen that man before. And knowing Beth, she wouldn't have left me with such a handsome guy.

More importantly, Raymond and I hadn't even met back then.
