Chapter 31 - Overflowing Cream

Edmund's jaw clenched, his teeth grinding together as his hands curled into fists beneath the table. Every muscle in his body screamed at him to defy the order, to throw the container across the room, to shout his rage and humiliation.

But he didn't. He couldn't. Instead, he rose slowly, his movements stiff as he reached for the container.

The weight of the chilled silver against his palm did nothing to cool the fire burning in his chest as he poured the golden liquid into a glass. His hands shook ever so slightly, the only outward sign of the storm raging within him as he fought against the searing jealousy and helpless rage coursing through his veins.

"There." He said curtly, his voice low and tight as he set the glass down on the table, his knuckles white against the edge of the wood.

Cassius didn't look up, his smirk growing as he traced a finger idly along the rim of the glass.
