Chapter 2
6 months later
The day had finally come, Liam had spent every last penny he owned, planning his gruelling revenge against the mafia boss. He sold all his home appliances, just to be able to afford enough weapons to carry out his revenge.
He went through intensive martial arts training, honing his body to fight strong bodyguard, and to be agile enough to dodge bullets, now he had the confidence that he could infiltrate Victor's mansion without getting killed.
Several of his allies stood waiting for him outside his apartment, they had already mapped everything out, the hacker among his team would first disable all the security alarms, then another teammate would cause a loud commotion outside, drawing out most of the guards, and then, Liam will enter inside while armed with his weapon, take down the rest of the guards and kill Victor.
The plan was simple and nothing complicated, but the only way it could work out was if Victor didn't know they were coming. If any way at all, Victor knew about their plan, then they would all be killed cold blood.
Liam's teamates by the names of Chris, David, and Tristan, agreed to join hands with him because they were also victims of Victor's cruel debt trap. They weren't just helping Liam for revenge; they had their own reasons to see Victor fall.
After strapping on his gear and preparing for the life-or-death fight ahead, Liam reached for the photo sitting on the stand next to him. His grip tightened around the frame as he brought it closer to his face.
His fingers trembled as they traced the edges of the photo frame. His eyes locked onto the smiling faces of his children—Amelia and Danny. His chest tightened, and his jaw clenched so hard it hurt.
"I promise you... Amelia, Danny... I'm going to make him pay for what he did to you," he muttered, his voice raw and breaking.
He had made this promise months ago, but the pain still burned like it happened yesterday. Victor Caruso had taken everything from him, and Liam was ready to do whatever it took—even if it meant sacrificing his own life—to make sure Victor suffered for it.
A soft knock pulled Liam from his thoughts.
"Liam, we need to move. It's past 1 a.m.," David's low voice came from outside the door.
The plan had to be done before daybreak. Midnight was the perfect time to catch Victor off guard, and they were already running out of time.
Liam placed the photo frame gently on the stand and headed out. "Where's Chris and Tristan?" He asked in a firm tone.
"They are already in the van, Chris has already checked the cameras that were placed in Victor's mansion, there are about 17 guards guiding outside the mansion," david explained,
"And inside?" Liam asked.
"As for inside, we can't tell how many exactly, they were only able to place 2 spy cam inside his mansion, and from what we counted, only about 4 guard are inside." David added, Liam nodded, wearing his combat gloves.
"I can take care of four guards myself, you guys just make sure to prevent the other seventeen guards from finding anything suspicious, let's get going." Liam said and headed to the van outside, David following behind him.
They all wore black face caps, combat boots and weapon gears. Chris sat in the driver's seat, his seat belt safely strapped. Tristan wasn't a good fighter, but he was good at throwing tantrums, which he was going to do.
The van rumbled to life and soon, they were heading to Victor's mansion which was located at the end of town. While they were on the move, they discussed more on the strategy.
"I am really nervous, I have a bad feeling about this, maybe we should just forget this revenge shit move on" Tristan remarked, fear evidente in his eyes, David suddenly hit the back of his head hard, making Tristan's head lunge foward, almost hitting his nose.
"What was that for, I am only giving advice," Tristan snapped, rubbing the back of his head.
"I've always known you to be a coward, but just so you know, it's too late to back out, the only way our plan would fail is if anyone here betrayes us," David hissed, gritting his teeth.
Tristan didn't take his comment lightly, he wasn't pleased with being called a coward."Who do you think you are calling me a coward, have you forgotten how you ended up in debt in the first place?" Tristan shot back, David's fist clenched, wanting to punch Tristan for his remark.
"That's enough you two, this isn't the time to fight amongst ourselves, save your stamina to fight with Victor's bodyguards, you can both beat yourselves to a pulp after we make it out of this Alive," Liam said calmly, interrupting their banter. His arms were folded the whole time, his eyes closed as he relaxed nonchalantly on the seat.
"How can you remain calm in this situation, we might not return alive, your know that right?" Tristan asked, sweat streaks were visible on his forehead, and obvious sign of how nervous he was about the whole plan, his hands trembled slightly, but he clenched his fist to reduce the shaky effect.
"Even if I die, I will make sure to drag Victor with me to the afterlife,"Liam said coldly, his resolve firm.
"That's enough you all, we've arrived." Chris interrupted thier discussion. The tension in the air thickened, the van was packed in the forest near Victor's mansion, David opened the door and they all stepped out, their boots crushed dry leaves, leaving crunchy sounds as the moved.
Chris brought out his laptop, holding with one hand while the other hand operated, the moon was up, sound of crickets and insects were the only sound that could be heard, now including the crunchy sounds of leaf getting crushed with each step.
"Wait, the guards in the mansion, I count five, it seems someone was added, or we didn't count well before." Chris said quietly, still working on his laptop,
"Even if they are ten, I can take them out one by one, it's not like I would announce my presence when I enter," Liam replied, . making sure to keep his voice down.
"Now Tristan, it's time to do your job."
