Chapter 4: It Was Really Him Who Saved Me
"Damn it, what rotten luck! Running into that jerk again!" I muttered under my breath, raising an eyebrow in disdain.
I stared at Leng Mofan, whose lips were tightly pressed together as usual. His sharp facial features looked as cold as ever. With a sweeping glance from his deep-set eyes, he noticed me and Ding Xiaoruan. His gaze hardened instantly, and with one hand casually shoved into his pocket, he turned and strode coldly into the KTV entrance.
Ding Xiaoruan nudged me with her elbow. "Babe, who's that jerk? Want me to teach him a lesson?"
I grabbed her arm, steering us toward the door. "It's nothing! Just a ghost crossing my path."
Hmph! Who does Leng Mofan think he is, acting so high and mighty? If he dares to mess with my Haoran, I won't let his mother off the hook! I'll even look up some schemes online to give his mom a taste of her own medicine.
But those were just idle thoughts. I didn't really expect to have anything to do with him. Lucky people don't concern themselves with passing ghosts and demons, right? Ha, ha, ha!
"What are you grinning about? Your mouth's stretched all the way to your ears!" Ding Xiaoruan slapped my shoulder dramatically.
"I'm just thinking about what song we should sing together." I quickly dialed back my grin, pretending to be serious.
We found our assigned room and pushed the door open, only to be hit with music so loud it nearly burst our eardrums.
Wow! A dozen or so classmates were already there, blasting music at full volume. They were either dancing wildly or belting out songs at the top of their lungs.
"Pick a song! Let's duet 'Love with No Regrets,' okay?!" Ding Xiaoruan suggested excitedly.
I nodded enthusiastically, grabbed a can of beer, and downed a big gulp. "Ah! That's the stuff!" Tonight, we were going all out. To hell with the college entrance exams!
Soon, the music for "Love with No Regrets" started playing. With wireless mics in hand, Xiaoruan and I stood on opposite sides of the room, swaying our hips and singing in sync:
"Da-la-la-la… The sky's a bit dim, the mood's a little blue…"
Singing wildly, dancing like maniacs, chugging beers—our classmates turned the room into a whirlwind of chaos, laughter, and youthful abandon.
Xiaoruan could hold her alcohol, but even she started slurring her words after a while. I wasn't nearly as resilient. After two cans of beer, my head was spinning. Stumbling, I headed to the private bathroom in the room.
The bathroom door was locked, and someone inside was throwing up violently. Unable to wait any longer, I turned to find the public restroom.
By the time I reached the restroom area, I couldn't hold it in any longer. Rushing to a sink, I bent over and vomited uncontrollably.
It felt like I was throwing up my very soul. Cold sweat drenched my forehead and face, my limbs were weak, and I could barely stand. Clinging desperately to the edge of the sink, I struggled to stay upright.
"Hey there, sweetheart. Let me help you," a greasy man with a rat-like face sidled up, his grin full of malicious intent.
I frowned, using what little strength I had to push him away. "Get lost," I spat in disgust.
"Aw, don't be like that. Your stomach's upset—I'll give you a little massage," he said, his lecherous hand reaching shamelessly for my chest.
I leaned back against the wall, but his hand kept coming. There was no escaping it now! In the blink of an eye, another hand shot out and grabbed his wrist, twisting it with brutal force.
"Ahhh!" The sleazy man screamed in pain, clutching his arm as he fled.
I weakly lifted my gaze and saw Leng Mofan standing there. A cold, murderous glint flashed in his eyes as he glared down at me, his expression as hard as stone.
He had saved me? Oh my God. It was really him who saved me!
