Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Elemental Magic Studies

Following the division of the new students into their respective houses, Headmaster Dumbledore delivered a brief welcome speech before the commencement of the banquet. However, Dumbledore's words left many teachers and students feeling confused and uncertain.

Some of the more observant individuals, having already noticed Callister, began to have suspicions.

This might be related to him.

"As the headmaster of Hogwarts, it is my duty to contribute to the betterment of this school."

"Similarly, I must also ensure the safety of all staff and students here, and enhance the security measures in place."

"For example, improving the means by which wizards can protect themselves, which necessitates exposure to more forms of magic."

"Thus, I hereby make the following announcement."

At this point, Dumbledore paused briefly, casting a glance at the professors around him and the students before him. "We are adding a new magic class, and it will be called Elemental Magic Studies."

Upon hearing Dumbledore's announcement, the crowd froze in surprise, and confusion and shock quickly spread throughout the hall.

Since the founding of Hogwarts, there had always been seven core subjects: Potions, Herbology, Divination, Charms, Astronomy, Defense Against the Dark Arts, and Care of Magical Creatures.

Now, Dumbledore was about to break tradition by introducing a new subject—Elemental Magic Studies—a form of magic they had never even heard of before.

"This is a very unique branch of magical study, and it is a completely new form of magic. It is both magnificent and luxurious, its power is greater, and its dangers are even more pronounced."

"The creator of Elemental Magic is a miracle, a true genius."

"I have invited him for years, and only recently has he agreed to join Hogwarts, become a professor of Elemental Magic Studies, and teach it to all of you."

"Please welcome the creator of Elemental Magic, Callister!"

Dumbledore's enthusiastic tone reflected his immense joy and excitement, and at the same time, a deep sense of anticipation for Callister.

The professors at Hogwarts, including Professor McGonagall and Hagrid, all exchanged looks, their gazes toward Callister shifting.

This handsome young man was a genius who had created an entirely new form of magic.

Draco Malfoy, Crabbe, Goyle, Hermione, Ron, and even the second-year students were all filled with confusion. What exactly was Elemental Magic?

Harry had already heard of Callister, but the idea that Callister had created an entirely new form of magic left him even more curious.

Thus, Harry's gaze was full of expectation as he looked toward Callister.

As the eyes of the crowd focused on him, Callister rose into the air without the aid of a broom.

Professor Quirrell, Professor Snape, and Professor McGonagall stared in disbelief as Callister silently cast a spell and floated up without a broom. It was something none of them had ever seen before.

What magic was this?

As magic professors, they couldn't identify it, which was truly incredible.

Hovering about three meters above the ground, Callister looked down at the crowd of amazed students and smiled. He then took out his wand and made a sweeping motion through the air.

Soon, the entire hall began to grow damp, and mist filled the air. The atmosphere became clearer, with water droplets floating in the air, shining with a crystal-clear glow. As Callister continued to control them, the droplets transformed into tiny water spirits about the size of a palm. They danced through the air, flipping and tumbling.

The water spirits appeared incredibly cute, and they leapt in front of the wizards, gliding past the lamps. The lamps' heat caused the droplets to evaporate, and as the droplets landed on the students, the cool sensation was both amusing and refreshing.

This spectacle left the younger students in awe and delight, and cheers echoed throughout the hall.

Callister waved his wand again, and the hall, already damp with moisture, grew more lively.

Flames the size of fists appeared in the air, resembling mushrooms desperately pushing through the soil.

The flames also transformed into tiny spirits, chasing after the water spirits.

The temperature rose, and the water spirits, frightened by the fire spirits, scattered in all directions. If they were slow, they would shrink, becoming more transparent.

Draco Malfoy, watching a fire spirit fly past him, was filled with excitement and curiosity. He reached out to grab it.

"Ah, it's burning me!"

Malfoy, too eager to try, paid the price for his impatience. His hand was burned, turning red and swelling, looking much like a pig's trotter roasted over a fire.

The other students, eager to join in, saw this and immediately stopped, though their eyes still followed the little spirits.

Callister smiled slightly, and in full view of Malfoy and the others, a water spirit leapt playfully over Ron and Harry's heads, leaving a trail of moisture behind, before landing in Malfoy's hand.

Malfoy instinctively tried to throw the water spirit away but quickly stopped.

Because the water spirit had settled in his palm, it lay there, offering a cool, soothing sensation—much like holding an ice cube on a summer day. It was incredibly comfortable.

"My goodness, Malfoy, your hand is healed!"

Goyle exclaimed in surprise and delight, looking at Malfoy's hand.

The other students immediately gathered around.

The adorable water spirit had healed Malfoy's burned hand.

Professor McGonagall and the others, watching Callister's demonstration, took a deep breath.

So, this is Elemental Magic?

It seemed terrifying!

This was just a demonstration—what about the damage it could cause in battle?

Callister slowly descended, landing in the center of the stage. He first bowed to Professors McGonagall and the others, before turning to address the students.

"Hello everyone. My name is Callister, and I will be your professor for Elemental Magic."

"The three magical effects I just demonstrated were all part of Elemental Magic."

"Elemental Magic is a new and more intricate form of magic, containing the seven elements of water, fire, earth, wind, lightning, light, and darkness. It is more fun and easier to cast, but it also requires a mastery of one's magical control and powerful mental strength."

"Most importantly, we must sense the magical energy that permeates the world around us."

"Elemental Magic does not distinguish between Muggle-born and pureblood families. No matter who you are, as long as you are willing to work hard, you can become a wizard. However, I prefer to call myself a Mage."

Dumbledore walked over to Callister, smiling at the gathered students.

"We thank Professor Callister for showcasing the wonders and power of Elemental Magic. I'm sure many of you are now eager to learn it."

"Elemental Magic, as a special new subject, will be offered as an open class, meaning that all wizards at Hogwarts are welcome to learn it."

"Of course, it will be voluntary!"

"The specific schedule for Elemental Magic will be announced in due course."

"Now, let the feast begin!"
