Chapter 13 - THE MASK OF KRATOS

"Whatever you want, my angel," Fierre moaned as he pushed himself closer to me.

"Are you in a hurry?" I asked, trying to stall till I could figure out how to ask for the mask.

"Well, I do have a few clients up in the mountains, but I'm sure they can wait," he responded desperately.

"What kind of business do you do?" I pressed on.

"Nothing serious," he shrugged.

"Don't be modest, my darling," I said as I gently caressed his cheek.

His temperature rose to over a hundred degrees and goosebumps appeared on his hairy chest.

"I sell swords, riffles and other weapons," he said proudly.

"I have forged swords out of the rarest kinds of metal; iron, gold and even meteorites," he boasted.

"I've never touched a sword," I gasped. "Would you be kind enough to let me touch one?" I said, forcing the most soul breaking puppy eyes.

"Anything for you, my angel," he whispered before leading me out of the water.

He threw on his shorts but I stayed naked, ensuring that his thirst trippled with each drop of water that rolled down my chest.

"The gods save me," I heared him murmur as he dug through the large bag on his horse and tried to keep his eyes focused on something other than me.

"There you go!" He shouted excitedly as he pulled out a large sword adorned with a gold and white hilt and a white engraved casing.

"What else have you got in your bag?" I asked as I tried to peek inside the large leather satchel.

"None of your business," he snapped as he threw the bag over his shoulder.

I gasped and turned away, pretending to be hurt by his words.

"I'm sorry, my angel," he said softly. "I just have some very important things for my customers, it's nothing important."

"You can have the sword if you want. It was specially made for someone in the High Palace," he said, placing the sword in front of me. "It's one of a kind, just like you," he smirked.

"Thank you," I blushed as I pulled the sword the sword out by its hilt.

The shiny silver blade reflected the sunlight as I moved in around.

"Where's the mask?" I asked as I placed the sword beneath his chin.

"What kind of sick joke is this?" He yelled as his face turned red with anger.

"The kind that gets you killed," I retorted. "Hand over the mask Fierre."

"You stupid whore, you first seduce me and now you want to rob me?" He yelled angrily.

"Where's the mask?" I asked again as I pushed the blade closer to this neck.

"Who sent you? I'll fucking kill you," he barked as he tried to grab the blade.

An honest omission I had mentally made remains that I have not the idea or skill on how to use a sword.

The sharp blade went flying across his face, slicing off a part of his cheek before falling to the ground.

Fierre screamed in pain as blood gushed out of the cut.

"I'll fucking kill you for this," he threatened as he tried to stop the bleeding with his palm.

He tossed his satchel to the ground, grabbed his sword and came after me. I ran to the water. He knew better than to run into the lake with blood gushing out his face. He would make a perfect meal for an angry Abyss Siren or hungry blightfrogs.

"Come out and face me, whore," he thundered as he stalked the edge of the lake.

"Come in and get me," I taunted, a mischievous smile playing on my lips.

He hissed angrily and lunged into the water. His blood dropped into the water and I knew it would only be a few seconds before the predators came after him.

I just needed to buy time.

I continued moving around in the water until I spotted bubbling around where Fierre stood.

I made a run for it. While he struggled with whatever was pulling him to the bottom of the lake, I went for his bag.

I emptied its contents to the ground until I came across something wrapped in a piece of cloth.

I unwrapped it to find a shiny, waxed wooden mask decorated with carvings and small pieces of jade.

" congratulations Dahlia, you have successfully completed your third task," Dassy's voice echoed through the air.

"You stupid whore!" Fierre screamed as his large fist came in contact with my face.

"You think you can kill me so easily?" He yelled as he continued to hit me.

I held on tightly to the mask as I tried to struggle to my feet. Fierre was blinded with rage and I knew there was only one thing for me to do.

I summoner the last strength I could muster and I kicked him below the belt.

He fell to the ground and grabbed his aching balls.

This was my chance, I quickly threw on the mask and secured its straps tightly behind my head.

My senses went numb as my heart beat quickened. The last thing I could remember was blood spewing out of the large gash on Fierre's chest as I drove his sword down into the sand beneath him, completely pinning him to the ground.
