She was deep in her thoughts early in the morning. Staring out the windows, she sighed as she remembered last night.
She wasn't supposed to be awake by now, since her date ended late. She had a lot of work to do and she needed all the rest she could get. She was going to inspect the winery and get more paperwork done.
"I really should go back to bed," she muttered as she glanced at the time on her phone.
And she did that. For like an hour, then she woke up and just decided to wash up and take her early morning coffee.
Her gardener had walked through the gate right after she buzzed him in, going straight to work. So she just stood in her robe absentmindedly sipping.
Her phone rang just as she was about to have a refill and she contemplated not answering, before she did anyway. It's not like she could ignore him.
"Good morning!"
Tina winced. "You voice is too loud."
God, he was too much of a morning person to be her friend. She'd always wondered how she hadn't kicked him out of her life for that yet.
"And yours is too low. Always quiet and sad in the morning. I'm sure if you had someone living with you, your mood might improve."
Tina internally disagreed. Even while she was in a relationship, she was still like this. Nothing was going to change her distaste for perky morning people.
"What do you want?"
"Wow. Rude."
She rolled her eyes. "Just spill it."
"I tried to call you last night, but I got no response. Should I guess what you were doing, because I can bet it's not work."
She paused when she realized that she actually hadn't told him that she went on a date. And who with.
"You're wrong."
"I doubt it. Let me guess... you went to the spa."
She snorted.
"Okay, you were busy talking to Enna?"
She'd totally forgotten about her for a while there. "Nah."
"You went to get a tattoo."
"You're being ridiculous," she said finishing up the coffee in her cup.
"So you went on a date."
Tina froze. "H-how did you know that?!"
"Ah-ha!" Lamont exclaimed. "So I was right!"
Realizing that she'd falling into a trap without thinking, she started protesting, "No! You're actually wrong, I-"
"Who was it?! Was he hot?! What's his-"
"Goodbye, Lamont."
"What? W-wait! Wait!"
She cut off the call before he could continue.
She switched off her phone as she wondered how she was going to face her friend later in the day. Because she knew that there was no way on earth she wasn't going to spill the beans.
She used her hands as she covered her face, face burning in embarrassment.
After denying liking him and everything, she went out with him. Lamont was going to have a field day with this.

He wanted to text her. Or call. But he held himself because he feared he was being too needy. Was that one of the reasons she broke it off? He'd always been the type to call her everyday just to hear her voice, or text her just because. He'd thought he was being sweet and that maybe she liked it.
Maybe she didn't.
"Fuck, I just keep stressing myself out," he groaned.
He was still the same ol' him, but the only difference was he was being a but too careful about everything now. Being too calculative. He'd usually just do whatever felt right to him, but now he was worrying if he gave too much love and attention in the past.
Everything would be solved if he'd just asked Tina to tell him the truth the night before. If not because of how his heart softened at the look on her face and how much she seemed to be in visible pain, he would've pushed through.
However, that seemed to be a bad idea because he's still thinking about things of the past and what he should and shouldn't do with her, when they're not even dating! They're broken up and he's just... He should go on another date. But with a stranger this time. Like they always say, "There are many more fishes in the sea."
There are lots of women that would treat him right and love him. And one way he'd be able to find someone since he barely went out, was online. Sam's idea wasn't so bad after all.
"Hey."
He raised his head to glance at his door. He'd momentarily forgotten that he'd left it wide open.
"Chad, hey."
"May I come in?" he asked, to which Trevor nodded.
He sat in one of the seats in front of his desk as his boss gestured.
"Is there a problem?"
"Frances is busy with something, so she told me to give you these papers," Chad said, dropping the file carefully in front of him.
"Did she tell you what it's about?" Trevor asked, staring at it curiously. "I don't remember asking for... Oh, yeah. The machines."
They needed to buy a new mixing machine, oven, microwave, many more, but his favorite and the only thing that's motivating him to get everything needed quickly was... the espresso machine.
He sighed as he started calculations in his head. Running a restaurant isn't very easy. Thank God he had money, if not the building would've been shut down a while ago.
"I'll get everything between this week and the next."
"Okay then," Chad nodded, then stood up and made to leave, before he paused and asked, "So are you good?"
Trevor raised a brow. "Huh?"
"I'm talking about last time we talked. Did you take my advice?"
Trevor was confused, trying to understand him. "Your advice?"
"About the girl."
Trevor relaxed the moment he remembered. "Oh. Oh, yeah! About her. I remember for sure." He continued, "We met and we talked."
Chad smiled. "That's great. So did she explain everything?"
"Not really." He shook his head. "She seemed too sad so I told her to tell me later. I can wait."
"You sure you waiting isn't going to make you fall in love with her again though?" Chad joked, sitting back down. "These things tend to happen often."
Trevor laughed a bit. "I don't know about that."
"What's her name though?"
"Her name?"
"Yeah. She must be something amazing for you to be stuck up on her for so long. Probably from royalty or something, considering who you are and stuff."
Trevor tilted his head in thought. "I wouldn't say she's royalty but... Her name is Tina."
"Tina?!"
The two men flinched in surprise as they turned to look at who said that by the door.
It was Mike. And he didn't look too happy.
