Of the two people Ginny and Rick were fighting, one was injured while the other was tending to their comrade's injury.
The horribly smashed arm attested to the wound's perpetrator.
Not only that, but there seemed to be a broken wall of earth shortly between them and the two members of the kingdom's army.
Just looking at the scene, it was obvious what had occurred.
Rick injured the person he was facing and then proceeded to hastily erect a wall of earth to separate Ginny from their two enemies.
After accomplishing this, he jumped before a blow meant for Delsie.
However, the person Ginny was trading blows with was a healer like herself.
Even now, the wounded soldier's arm quickly began to heal, restoring the battered limb to its natural state.
Just like Delsie's own.
As the poisoned injury faded away like a lie, Delsie gently put down Rick's lifeless corpse, replacing her lover's still-smouldering corpse with her trusty rapier.
Ginny followed suit moments later.
Removing her hands from Delsie's healed arm, Ginny stood back on her feet, tightly gripping her spear with both hands.
As Delsie threw Rick one last tearful gaze, she pulled herself to her feet and pointed her rapier at the man who killed him.
Standing next to Delsie, Ginny studied the man before them with apprehension.
She didn't remember there being anyone stationed at the border who could wield fire.
Not only that, but the man's features seemed somewhat familiar to her.
It wasn't long before the dots connected in her head.
And when they did… Ginny's face paled.
"General Wallace Ballard…"
Certain people in each country were notable enough to gain worldwide recognition.
Whether it be for their strength, position, or skill.
And it just so happened that the man before her had all three.
After all…
General Wallace Ballard was one of the Kelon Coalition's two 3-Stars.
Ginny couldn't help but feel a chill go down her spine.
'We're doomed…'
It wasn't long before Delsie came to the same realization. Still, instead of feeling fear, this only seemed to fuel the rapier-wielding captain's burning rage.
However, Wallace seemed oblivious to both of their internal struggles.
Instead of paying Ginny and Delsie any mind, the man focused solely on someone else.
It was none other than a certain dual-dagger-wielding woman.
***
As Lyn quickly dispatched her first foe, she quickly moved on to her next target.
Which just happened to be another woman who was also wielding twin daggers.
However, the Kelonian woman's ability and physical prowess were nowhere near Lyn's level.
Furthermore, her daggers paled compared to Lyn's sleek black blades.
Although they were elegant and beautiful, they lacked a certain lethal charm that Lyn's daggers seemed to possess.
While one would naturally assume this, it was the other way around.
The black twin-daggers only possessed this trait because of their wielder.
Lifting one of her daggers, the Kelonian woman hastily tried to block Lyn's attack.
(CLANG)
As their blades connected in midair, the Kelonian woman sighed internally with relief.
For some reason, she felt that no matter what, blocking Lyn's attack would be something near impossible for her.
…Perhaps she was just on edge.
'Yeah… That must be it.'
Just as she thought this, something horrifying began to occur.
The black blades began to glow with a chilling dark aura.
And it was then that Lyn's blade began… To slip through the Kelonian woman's.
The Kelonian woman initially thought it was the result of Lyn using some unique power, whether a Mana Art, an Artefact, or even a Core Spirit.
But that wasn't right.
The sound of metal grinding filled the air as the Kelonian woman came to the terrifying realization.
Lyn's dagger wasn't slipping through her weapon… But I was instead cutting through it!
The Kelonian woman stared in shock as she saw her weapon be cut cleanly by Lyn's attack.
As a severed fragment of her blade fell to the ground with a soft thud, the Kelonion woman couldn't help but instinctively take a step back.
However, there was no way Lyn would let her go that easily.
Somehow mustering up even more speed, Lyn plunged both of her daggers straight through the Kelonian woman's chest.
Simultaneously piercing both her lungs and her heart.
"...How?"
Mustering one last word, the Kelonian woman looked at Lyn, desperate for an answer.
But sadly, the taciturn woman felt no desire nor need to honour her victim's dying regret.
Lyn had already killed far too many people to bother with such things.
Instead, she was more preoccupied by the sight of a bright ball of fire.
As it fell down on Delsie, a dark look formed on Lyn's face.
Quickly pulling her twin daggers out of the Kelonian woman's chest, Lyn turned in the direction of an approaching man.
With just one look, Lyn could already tell who that man was.
The dark look on Lyn's face deepened as she quickly turned to Blaine, who was protecting Cecelia from an oncoming barrage of light beams.
Two of the people were now aiming at Lyn, but there was still one person shooting at Blaine and Cecelia.
In order to deal with this, it seemed that the two teenagers had jumped off the raised earthen platform, using Blaine's mana art to create impromptu walls to block their attacks.
Under the fire of 2-Stars, even someone like Blaine wouldn't be able to hold on for long.
In fact, it was a miracle that they even lasted this long.
Something only a person as naturally gifted as Blaine could pull off.
As he blocked a beam of light with his Rank-3 Artifact sword, Blaine felt his arm bend horribly under the immense physical strain of the feat.
So instead of upright deflecting it, he curved it around them, allowing it to fly past him harmlessly.
Thankfully the attacks that were fired were not as fast as actual light, but instead just bursts of concentrated mana.
However, while they weren't nearly as fast, they were far more deadly.
As the beam flew past him, it struck a tree behind him, burning a searing red hole straight through the wooden trunk.
Just as Blaine was preparing to redirect another attack, he caught sight of Lyn staring in his direction.
As he lifted his arm to defend himself and Cecelia, he saw Lyn's mouth move slightly.
However, instead of saying anything, Lyn simply moved her lips, silently mouthing a message.
'Go.'
