Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Fragments of Memories

As the night deepened, the city's noise was gently carried away by the wind, returning to an eerie silence. Chen Shanyi's heartbeat still pounded fiercely in her chest, as if it had been deeply torn apart by the gaze of that man. She had just left the narrow alley, her steps hurried, her mind a blur. Standing on the balcony of a tall building, she let the night wind tousle her hair, her thoughts scattered like the wind itself, elusive and hard to grasp.

That man—Siska—who exactly was he? Why had she never seen him before, yet felt such familiarity? Why did his words stir such waves in her heart, as if he had always held a place in her life? She pressed her hand to her forehead, trying to force herself to calm down, but the fragments of memory began to emerge more clearly.

"Shanyi." That name suddenly echoed in her mind, as if calling from a distant place, carrying a trace of tender affection.

She opened her eyes wide, staring at the night sky outside the window, where the stars glimmered like countless eyes in the universe, coldly watching her.

She took a deep breath, forcing herself back to reality. She was no longer the ordinary girl who let fate guide her, with nothing left to sway her. She had come this far, standing at the vortex of destiny.

But that man... that man named Siska, why did he make her feel trapped? Every word he spoke seemed to pierce her heart, leaving an indelible mark.

She walked to her desk, picked up the open diary, and ran her fingers across the writing on the cover: "Shanyi, my heart will forever belong to you."

It was... her handwriting from the past. She remembered that it was years ago, back when Siska had not yet appeared in her life. At that time, she was still an ordinary college student, busy with her daily life, laughing and joking with friends, as time rushed by. But why did that forgotten time now come back to her so clearly?

"What is going on?" she muttered softly, her palm trembling slightly, then she flipped open the diary.

The handwriting became more and more familiar, with each line reminding her of things from her past. She began to read, reading about her own past, about the memories she had forgotten.

"I don't know if I did the right thing. The man's gaze was somewhat cold, but also carried an indescribable warmth. I had never seen him before, yet I deeply felt some unspoken connection between us."

"Shanyi." Whenever she closed her eyes, that voice would sound once again in her ears, deep and powerful, carrying a faint call of destiny.

A chill suddenly ran up her spine, as if from some distant place, a strong premonition echoed through her. This man, Siska, was not just a stranger; it seemed he was an important figure in her life. And these memories might be from a past she had never realized before.

She began to doubt whether she had fallen into some invisible trap, whether those forgotten memories had been buried deep in her heart long ago, waiting for the right moment to resurface.

"I have to find the answer." She whispered, her gaze growing more determined.

Suddenly, her phone vibrated, breaking her train of thought. Chen Shanyi picked up the phone and saw a familiar name flashing on the screen—Wang Kai.

She hesitated for a moment and answered the call.

"Shanyi, where are you?" Wang Kai's voice came through the phone, urgent, "Did something happen?"

Chen Shanyi took a deep breath, trying to calm her emotions, "I'm fine, I'm at home."

"You seem a bit off. Is something bothering you?" Wang Kai's voice grew more concerned.

Chen Shanyi was silent for a moment before finally sharing her confusion and unease with him. She didn't go into full detail about Siska, just mentioned the feeling of strangeness and confusion she had been experiencing.

After hearing this, Wang Kai paused for a while, seemingly thinking about how to respond. Then, his tone softened slightly, "Shanyi, maybe you should see a therapist. You've seemed a bit off lately, maybe it's stress, or some unresolved emotions that are troubling you."

Chen Shanyi gently shook her head, knowing that Wang Kai's concern was genuine, but there was an anxiety she couldn't shake. She didn't feel like she needed a therapist, but rather, the more she tried to avoid it, the more Siska and those forgotten memories seemed to draw closer.

"I understand, thank you." She forced a smile.

"If you need anything, let me know anytime." Wang Kai seemed to want to say more, but stopped.

"Okay, I'll hang up now." Chen Shanyi ended the call, staring at the screen for a long time. But there was no anxiety in her eyes, only an inexplicable determination.

She knew deep down that all of this was inevitable. Her fate had already become tightly bound to the appearance of that man, and there was no escaping it.

The night deepened, and Chen Shanyi stood by the window, her gaze as deep as the ocean, calm on the surface, but turbulent within. Her life was no longer simple, as if the rules of the world had changed in some way, and she was at the very center of this change.

"If this is my fate, I will face it bravely." She silently swore in her heart.
