"I had to do it to protect her. "I responded to Ma, even though I knew he was unhappy about it. She walked over and stood before me, arms crossed, her expression tight with disapproval.
"You've invited trouble," she stated, her voice edged with frustration. "And it's going to be hard to deal with."
I nodded, accepting the truth in her words. Then, without hesitation, I confessed, "This has everything to do with me. There's no way I could ignore the fact that Aurora is being tortured because of me."
Ma huffed, clearly unimpressed. "And what's your next move?" she asked, tilting her head slightly.
I shook my head. "Aurora's safety comes first. I'll deal with Cassius and his goons later."
A smirk flickered across Ma's lips, but there was no amusement in her eyes. "That's the least of your worries," she said. "Once Alpha Tor gets wind of this, he'll be far more troublesome for you."
