Chapter 1 - Ch1 - Prologue

I jolted up suddenly, my remaining arm reflexively trying to fold across my chest, like the phantom of the one I'd lost was still there. I stared blankly ahead, letting the strange dream linger in my mind."What's wrong? You look... worried," Kagali asked, her voice calm but tinged with curiosity.I shook my head slightly, though my thoughts still swirled. That dream was bizarre—disturbing even. I wasn't in control. I could only watch as events unfolded, yet they felt more like memories than some fleeting figment of imagination. Memories of a life that wasn't mine. There were familiar faces—Shizu, Rimuru-san—but also others I didn't know: Mariabell Rosso, the Manas Michael, Feldway, and another sentient being linked to Veldanava called "Ivaragé." The events mirrored parts of my reality, but the moment Rimuru-san became a demon lord, everything veered off into a world utterly foreign to me.In this reality, I was on the verge of escaping with Kagali and the clowns after fighting against demon lords, Rimuru-san, and even a Chaos Dragon. But the dream had twisted everything.Greed wasn't mine—it was Mariabell's before I stole it. The Anti-Skill I took from the Chaos Dragon was odd too, in that dream it was something I created when I was firstly summoned, meant to block Kagali's attempts to seize control of my body. The other me didn't send Hinata to assassinate Rimuru-san. No, that version's intent was entirely different—Hinata had been a pawn to investigate Lubelius, and Laplace was the one dispatched to draw her out.Even more shocking was how much that other Yuuki cared for the clown troupe, sacrificing himself for their sake in the end.The dream ended with me consumed in an explosion, my death sudden and absolute."What a weird dream," I muttered under my breath."Oh, so ya were just dreamin'?" Laplace chimed in, his accent cutting through the haze of my thoughts."Yes. It's nothing. Let's get moving," I replied curtly, brushing it off as we prepared to leave.Even if it was just a dream, it wasn't entirely useless. There were lessons buried in the chaos. I could revise my plans—turn the tables completely.Years passed. The revised plan was executed flawlessly. Sure, I lost the clown troupe and more along the way, but sacrifices were necessary. In the end, my goal was achieved.Rimuru-san died by my hand. The demon lords were shattered, and Velda returned to my control. I stood in the ruins of the heavenly palace, a crumbling world at my feet, full of destruction. And yet..."Impossible! You're still in control?!" The voice rang out, both familiar and infuriating, as I opened my eyes again.Ruins. That's all I could see. But this wasn't the heavenly palace. Definitely not.Kagali's reaction confirmed my suspicion. "That reaction of yours..." I muttered under my breath, piecing things together.I've regressed.I explained the situation to Kagali, her soul trapped within me as before. Her disbelief was palpable, but eventually, she accepted my words. Even if they were lies. Kagali and the clowns had been useful tools, but I betrayed them when it suited me. They sought a peaceful world, free from Leon Cromwell's shadow, but their hatred and thirst for vengeance clouded their judgment. I feigned agreement with their ideals to use them to my advantage. And so, I began again. Rebuilding my power. Rising through the ranks, I became the Grandmaster of the Free Guild, Shizu at my side. Every revision I made led to smoother progress. But in the end, it always returned to the same moment."Impossible! You're still in control?!"No matter the plan or the path I chose, the resets came without fail. This time, I even tried being the "good guy." I didn't kill anyone—well, except Velda, to take his powers—and I saved the clowns. I ruled Tempest with Rimuru-san by my side. But once again, the reset came.Over time, I lost count of how many times I started over. The repetition was maddening. I tried every possible route—joining the empire, allying with the demon lords, even taking Rimuru-san's place as the ruler of monsters. I won every time, yet every triumph was ripped away in the same mocking instant....Eventually, I stopped caring about strategy."Impossible! You're still in con—"Before Kagali could finish her words, I burst into laughter."HAHAHAHA! Speedrun time!" I shouted gleefully, my grin wide and unhinged."H-huh?" Kagali stammered, caught off guard.Wasting no time, I unleashed chaos. Portals tore through space as magicules ran rampant. Countless invaders spilled into the world, my pawns in a game of destructive chess. I sped up the Tenma war, stabbed Rudra in the back, and toppled everything in record time. And still..."Impossible! You're still in control?!"The loop began anew.Eventually, the madness faded, replaced by a grim resolve. What if I lost instead?I returned to my original plans, following them step by step. I reached the heavenly palace, where Rimuru-san stood before me."It's over, Yuuki," he declared.I smiled faintly, drawing my sword.『Chrono Saltation!』Rimuru-san vanished, lost to the end of time and space. Once again, I stood victorious. As I surveyed the scene, I saw the Demon Lords and True Dragons gathered, with Rimuru-san—the very one I had just made disappear—among them. Even Chloe, now fully grown, was there.A heavy sigh escaped me as I closed my eyes, bracing myself for the reset. I must have gotten carried away during the fight with Rimuru-san, I thought. But when I opened my eyes again, it still hadn't happened."Where's the reset?" I muttered, confusion creeping into my voice. My enemies hesitated, as if unsure of what to make of my words. Then, without warning, they attacked, throwing everything they had at me."It seems the reset won't happen until I've wiped all of you out," I remarked, my tone tinged with boredom. It didn't matter. I prepared to tap into my ultimate skill, Akashic Records—the ability to access any power I wanted. I'd use Beelzebub to consume their attacks. That should be more than enough. But then, someone appeared. A flash of platinum-blue hair shimmered in the chaos, instantly recognizable. They teleported right between me and the oncoming storm of destructive force. It was Rimuru.Slender, graceful, their androgynous form might have been mistaken for a flat-grown woman. She- He kind of reminds me of Shizu...But this Rimuru... this wasn't the one I'd faced before. This was a Rimuru who had spent countless centuries trapped at the end of space and time, shaped by the endless void."Looks like this time, it's truly over, Yuuki," Rimuru said, their voice carrying a weight of finality I couldn't ignore. And in that instant, I felt it. The unmistakable sense that my end was near."Rest peacefully, and repent for eternity,"...Prologue End.A/N: QUIZ TIME! How many times has Kagali exclaimed, "Impossible!
