As the morning sun rises a youth about 24 year old wakes up , goddamit this alarm won't stop ringing as he gets up and looks at the clock which reads 9:30 am , He was shocked as he knew he would be late to work today and today was an important day for him as his co-worker was on a leave so he had to handle most of his work as well so he planned on waking up at 6 am but lady luck wasn't on his side today . As he was getting ready he recives a call from his co-worker bryan sighs ah let me pick it up atleast and apologize to him for not getting upon time as Bryan answers the call he was gretted by his co-worker who was quite upset that he didn't arrive to work yet as he told bryan about how the boss sent messages to him requesting him to call Bryan.
"Oh hey there lucas i'm sorry i couldn't arrive in time just tell the boss i'll be there in 30 minutes i really overslept on this one ". Lucas who was Bryan's Co-worker replied it's alright since it's your first time and i'm out it's my fault for expecting you to work overtime but buy me a drink when i get back alright ". Go to the work-place as soon as you can Bryan the boss sounds pissed i'll talk with him about this don't worry about it he'd understand". Thanks Lucas i appreciate it man as Bryan replied on the phone to lucas as he ended the call .
He soon went downstairs to brush his teeth and take a quick bath after that he grabbed some toasted bread . While he was walking out of his house ,He suddenly felt pain near his chest as he started breathing heavily " I can't breathe what's going why is my vision getting dizzy " soon he collapsed on the floor he tried to get his phone which fell beside him to call the ambulance as he realized something his wrong with him but sadly he lost his consiousness there and then .
After what felt like an eternity, faint voices began to reach Bryan's consciousness, pulling him from the darkness. His eyelids fluttered open, and he blinked against the bright light above him. His vision slowly adjusted, revealing unfamiliar faces. A couple and a doctor stood around his bed, their expressions a mix of concern and relief.
"Where… am I?" Bryan muttered hoarsely, his voice weak and unfamiliar to his own ears.
Before he could process anything further, the man and woman leaned closer, their worried gazes fixed on him. Just as Bryan opened his mouth to ask, Who are you people? the doctor interjected.
"Look, your son is awake," the doctor said with a reassuring smile. "He seems fine, but we should keep him under observation for a while, just to ensure there's no memory loss."
Bryan froze, the words your son echoing in his mind. His pulse quickened as confusion and panic set in. What son?
Before he could voice his disbelief, a torrent of memories surged through his mind like a dam breaking. It was overwhelming, each image and sensation vivid and sharp. He remembered being born—again. His parents had named him Bryan, the same name he had in his past life. The man before him was Eric, his father, and the woman beside him was Emma, his mother.
The most astonishing revelation hit him like a bolt of lightning: this world was almost identical to his previous one, with one crucial difference—mana. In this world, mana was a fundamental force, and those who mastered it could become magi, highly respected professionals. His parents, he now realized, were both magi of considerable skill.
Bryan also recalled his own story in this world. At just four years old, he had fallen into a coma after a terrible accident. He had sneaked out to play at a nearby park, but a misstep on the slide sent him tumbling, his head striking a stone. By the time someone found him, it had been too late to prevent his coma. Now, after all this time, he had finally awakened.
As the flood of memories subsided, Bryan's head throbbed painfully, his face contorted in discomfort. The doctor and his parents exchanged worried glances, their concern palpable.
The doctor stepped forward, raising his hand as a soft green light enveloped Bryan. Almost instantly, a soothing warmth spread through his body, washing away his fatigue and even the dull ache in his head. He felt rejuvenated, as if he had just awakened from the most refreshing sleep of his life.
"Are you a magus, Doctor?" Bryan asked in a small, curious voice, his wide eyes adding an innocent charm to his question.
The doctor chuckled, his expression warm. "No, I'm just an apprentice. You'll learn all about magi and what they do when you start attending the academy at eight years old. For now, though, you need to rest. Just look at how worried your parents were after your little adventure."
Bryan couldn't help but feel a bit awkward. The doctor's attempt to reflect on his actions seemed like overkill for a four-year-old, though he kept that thought to himself. Instead, he turned to his parents with a genuinely apologetic expression. "I'm sorry, Mom and Dad. I won't do it again. I'll stay at home and not cause any trouble," he promised, his small face clouded with guilt.
Eric, his father, gave a soft smile, kneeling beside the bed. "As long as you're safe, that's all that matters. But," he added, his voice taking on a playful yet firm tone, "if you do something like this again, no more pocket money for you."
Emma, his mother, nodded in agreement, her eyes brimming with tears of relief. "I'm just glad you're okay," she said, gently stroking his hair. "But please, no more running off like that."
Bryan felt a wave of warmth wash over him. He looked at his parents—their love and concern were so evident, it was overwhelming. As he lay there, he couldn't help but think back to his sudden collapse in his previous life. "Did I die of a heart attack or stroke?" he wondered silently. "My luck was awful. Even if I had managed to call for help, the ambulance might not have arrived in time." The thought brought a sigh to his lips, a faint sadness lingering in his heart.
But as he glanced at Eric and Emma, his perspective shifted. "In this life, I have parents again," he thought, the memories of his past flooding in. He remembered losing his parents at the age of ten in a tragic car accident on a rainy day, leaving him in the care of an uncle and aunt. The loss had left a void that his new parents, with their care and warmth, seemed to be filling. They're strong, loving, and even rich, he thought with a small smile. "I've really lucked out this time."
Bryan's mind wandered to the possibilities of his new life. I have to become a magus in this world, he resolved. The idea of combining mana with technology intrigued him. His past-life experience as a mechanist had given him a solid foundation in machinery, and he imagined the potential of creating mana-infused gadgets, robots, and devices. It would be amazing to test those ideas someday, he thought, his excitement bubbling up.
His musings were interrupted by the doctor, who reentered the room. "Alright, little one. Your parents are heading home now. You'll need to stay here for a couple of days so we can monitor you and ensure everything is okay. After that, you can go home with them," the doctor said kindly before leaving.
Emma leaned down, cupping Bryan's cheek gently. "Okay, sweetheart. Don't overthink things. Just rest, eat the meals the hospital provides, and don't cause trouble for the nurses and doctors, alright? When we pick you up, we'll take you to your favorite amusement park."
Eric nodded with a grin. "And I'll buy you those toys you like. We can even ride the ferris wheel together—me, you, and Mom."
Bryan's face lit up at their promises. "Thanks, Dad! I'll be on my best behavior. Take care, Mom. See you in a couple of days," he said, waving goodbye as his parents left, their relief and joy evident.
As the door closed behind them, Bryan lay back against the pillows, a small smile on his face. He felt a renewed sense of hope and determination. This life might just be the fresh start I needed.
