Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: That Guy Is a Dog

The moment Wang Chao heard the words "graduation thesis," he acted as though he had been electrocuted. Smacking his forehead, he hurriedly exclaimed, "I need to revise my thesis!" and bolted out of the room.

Lin Yang watched Wang Chao's disappearing figure, laughing helplessly.

"Lin Yang, your friends are so amusing. Even your mentor is fun," Shu Mengyao said softly after everyone had left.

"I was worried you'd be nervous around them," Lin Yang replied with a grin. "My mentor isn't much older than us, so she's more like a buddy. As for Wang Chao… well, that guy's a dog."

"A dog?" Shu Mengyao's wide eyes blinked in surprise. "Isn't he a person?!"

Her disbelief was evident. She couldn't understand how a dog could attend college, let alone how the young man she had just seen could possibly be one.

Lin Yang couldn't help but laugh at her reaction.

"You probably missed it in the news since you were busy preparing for the baby. Recently, a breed of dog has evolved to this level, and Wang Chao is one of their experimental subjects."

Shu Mengyao's delicate features froze in astonishment. She completely bought into Lin Yang's casual fib.

"She's so gullible," Lin Yang thought, trying hard to keep a straight face. He decided to push it further, amused by her naivety.

"Technology advances so quickly these days," Shu Mengyao said earnestly. "I feel like I've fallen behind the times."

Her voice was tinged with genuine disbelief. A mere ten months of pregnancy had left her feeling out of sync with the world.

"Just kidding! Wang Chao's human," Lin Yang finally confessed with a hearty laugh.

"Huh?" Shu Mengyao tilted her head, looking slightly confused.

Lin Yang explained further, "We just call him a 'single dog' because he's perpetually single."

"So, he's definitely not part dog, right?" Shu Mengyao asked hesitantly, as if seeking absolute clarity.

"Definitely not. He's 100% human," Lin Yang reassured her, suppressing his laughter.

Shu Mengyao finally let out a relieved sigh, patting her chest.

Looking at her innocent expression, Lin Yang couldn't help but feel puzzled. How could anyone ever mistake this adorable, naive girl for an aloof beauty? The impression people had of her was entirely wrong.

"By the way," Lin Yang began, changing the subject, "the nurse told me earlier that the babies need their vaccines this afternoon. You'll stay here in the room and wait for me, okay?"

"I… I want to go with you," Shu Mengyao said softly, mustering her courage.

"There might be a lot of people there," Lin Yang replied patiently. "Are you sure you want to go?"

Hearing this, Shu Mengyao hesitated and eventually backed down, lowering her head in disappointment.

"Then… I'll wait here," she murmured.

"Be good and wait for me. If anything comes up, call me. I'll be downstairs getting the babies vaccinated and will come right back," Lin Yang reassured her, gently stroking her hair.

"Okay. Come back soon," she said, her eyes lighting up again.

Watching Lin Yang leave, Shu Mengyao clenched her fists. "Next time, I'll work up the courage!" she said softly, encouraging herself.

Meanwhile, Lin Yang was on the third floor, waiting in line for the vaccinations. As the nurse had warned, the area was crowded, with a long line snaking through the corridor. Lin Yang patiently waited at the end of the line, pushing the twins in their stroller.

"Wow, twins! That's so lucky. Are they boys or girls?"

"They're so tiny and adorable! Are they newborns?"

Lin Yang's tall and handsome figure, coupled with the stroller holding two babies, quickly drew attention. Parents around him began asking questions out of curiosity.

"They're fraternal twins, one boy and one girl," Lin Yang explained with a smile.

"That's amazing! A boy and a girl—how perfect! You're so lucky!"

"And they're so well-behaved, not crying or fussing at all!"

The surrounding parents were full of admiration, and their interest grew when they noticed how quiet and peaceful the babies were. Soon, Lin Yang found himself at the center of a small crowd, casually sharing parenting tips he had learned from his system.

The parents hung on his every word, some even staying behind after their turn in line to continue listening.

Eventually, it was Lin Yang's turn. He wheeled the stroller to the doctors, who were immediately charmed by the twins.

"Are they newborns?" one doctor asked gently.

"Yes, they were born just yesterday," Lin Yang replied.

"They'll need a BCG vaccine and a hepatitis B vaccine today," the doctor explained.

The two doctors each picked up a baby, cooing softly as they administered the shots.

Despite the needle pricks, neither baby cried. They remained calm, blinking their big eyes at the doctors.

"These babies are incredible! So well-behaved," one doctor exclaimed in amazement.

It was rare to see newborns so composed during vaccinations. Most parents were used to the piercing cries that echoed through the clinic.

"Did you hear that? The doctors are praising you two," Lin Yang said, beaming with pride.

The doctors couldn't help but smile at his words. They marveled not only at how adorable the twins were but also at their father's good looks. "These two are going to grow up to be stunning," one of them remarked.
