Chereads / Immemorial Patriarch: Immortal Yu Clan / Chapter 2 - Generous Package

Chapter 2 - Generous Package

The Yu Clan was a small clan granted a mountain by the Blood Emperor because of their Ancestor who died protecting the Princess from an assassination. Although that Princess was long dead due to old age, the status of the Yu Clan remained and the mountain remained theirs.

The current Clan leader has never married and thus had no children. He was at the end of his life with less than a year left to go. Hence, the competition for succession had started among the assigned Legacies.

Yu Yan was in a complicated situation. Losing his parents since he was a child, he had lived alone as a fool. He had no cultivation level as he had never cultivated, and had no supporters in the clan.

But the Sixth Elder was a scheming man. He had long betrothed his daughter to Yu Yan and had been supporting him to become Clan Leader. If a fool became Clan Leader, no doubt it was the people around him who would rule. About this, there was nothing anyone could say. It wasn't against the rules.

"If it is discovered that I am no longer a fool, that old man will surely take back all his support. But that's a good thing, who wants to be clan leader anyway?"

[Ding!! New System Message]

"Sh!t" Yu Yan was startled into jumping off the bed. He had forgotten about the existence of the System.

[New Quest: Become Clan Leader]

[Reward: Unlocking all features of the System]

[Penalty: Death!]

"Okay, okay. So you were created to go against me huh?" Yu Yan 'okayed' twice to show his annoyance.

[Ding!]

[Received Starter Package, open?]

Taking a deep breath, he first returned to the bed and sat cross-legged on it. Glancing at the AI deletion progress, he opened his lips to say something but no words came up.

"Just let it go. I don't even know it anyway," he muttered to himself before thinking.

"Open"

[Received Cultivation Method: Immortal Tome]

[Received Physique: Undying Sage]

[Received Item: Pocket World]

[Received Item: Serenity]

[Received Pet: Stealth- Blood Wolf]

[Received Item: sprouting seed]

Yu Yan sat frozen on his bed wondering what was going on. That was a lot of things to get from the starter package. He was just thinking that when the familiar AI voice sounded in his head but this time, it wasn't as listless.

[The f*CK is that. You are cheating! You are cheating! You can't get these. Why didn't you give this to Che.*@&$'@-#&#]

The rest of its screams sounded chaotic and meaningless. He had a feeling they were censored. Yu Yan recalled what the system said before about compensation. It seemed like even the AI had not expected so much compensation and instantly became unstable.

His curiosity was now piqued about what he received.

"Accept physique" he decided to start with what he thought was most important.

Expecting pain, he gritted his teeth and clenched his butt but after a few seconds of waiting, nothing happened.

Opening one eye, he looked around.

"Scam?" He wondered aloud, but just at this moment, he started feeling a warm, comfortable feeling pass through his body and a tingle starting oddly from his feet to his spine and neck. When it got to his head, he felt all his hair stand on end and he involuntarily shivered. The scalp of his head started to tingle and he slowly drifted off into sleep.

In a dream, he saw himself sitting cross-legged in space, his body floating upright in the nothingness with space rocks and dust and sometimes stars and planets passing beside him. A thin layer of translucent bubble protected his body in the middle and he sat there with a peaceful expression on his face. Time passed, the space cracked, and everything turned into chaos, shattering like glass. The shards hit each other to split off again infinitely…this seemed to go on for billions of years until, eventually, these shards arranged themselves to form the cosmos again. This happened again and again until he woke up.

As a wealthy young man in his early twenties, Yu Yan had experienced the magical hands of many skilled, experienced, and…hot masseurs. But the feeling of waking up after a magical session could not compare with what he felt right now. He felt at peace; his clear thoughts were now clearer and sharper, and his whole demeanor changed. He felt in control of his emotions and more intuned with them. It was an inexplicable, unique feeling, and he basked in it for a while before thinking about the information he just received about his new physique.

Physiques ranged from Mortal> Spiritual > Heavenly > Sagely > Godly > Mythical. Undying Sage was not within any of these categories because it was as useless as a mortal physique and as rare and powerful as a Mythical one.

It had only two abilities. One was that it increased his talent, comprehension, and temperament directly proportionally with his lifespan, and secondly, it gave him impregnable defense in the form of a thin shield that was always present around him at all times. The shield was two layers above his cultivation level.

"So the longer my lifespan, the more talented I am?" Yu Yan wondered. If any of those Fey species with a lifespan of thousands of years got this, they would be crazy geniuses. But he was a mere human, the species with the shortest lifespan and highest reproduction rate in the cosmos. This physique was currently useless to him. Although his lifespan would increase with his cultivation, even if he was the most talented on his planet, he would never go above the Nascent Soul stage, which had a lifespan of a hundred thousand years. He didn't fully understand how much talent that would give him but he knew it wouldn't be enough to break the current upper limit of this world.

"Open cultivation technique"

As soon as he ordered it, he felt a rush of information flood his thoughts. Fortunately, his physique gave him the attributes of a Sage, and with his enhanced mental ability, he instantly shuffled through the information. The Immortal Tome was an equally unranked Cultivation method for almost the same reasons as his physique. It granted ten times more lifespan with every breakthrough. Its fighting power was not high, neither was its defense. The only thing it gave was lifespan. Cultivating in it was average, neither too fast nor too slow but it was very stable. This combined with his physique.

"Hisssss" Yu Yan took a deep breath.

Through the roof! He was going through the roof, the ceiling won't stop him, the sky won't stop him, the sun won't stop him!

"Okay okay, that's enough. Infinite numbers of my predecessors are dead" he quickly calmed himself down.

Although his reasoning was wrong. From the emotions of the System AI, one could see that none of his predecessors got these things.

"Open everything else" he directly requested, feeling excited.

[Serenity] was a cultivation bed. Yes, bed, not mat, a very comfortable bed for cultivation. It was a soulbound artifact that would grow with its owner. Its main effect was to keep the owner calm and rational to prevent heart demons, and also, it could access the void to draw Qi of any kind to support the owner's cultivation.

[Stealth Blood-Wolf] was a demon beast with an unknown bloodline. It appeared as a sleeping puppy beside him on the bed, its grey fur warm and soft to the touch. After replacing the bed with Serenity and dripping his blood on it to bind it, he utilized it to draw demon qi to support the pups' cultivation.

[Pocket World] was also a soulbound artifact and there was no information about it. He would have to bind it to learn about it, but he was hesitant, each person could only bind three artifacts in their lifetime and could never change it unless it got destroyed, but the backlash would probably leave them crippled, so no one destroyed their soulbound artifacts to replace with another one. The risk was too high.

His hesitation didn't last long though, since it was part of the starter package, he would probably need it. He took out the small green orb and dropped his blood essence on it feeling a rush of weakness flood over him for taking out two drops of blood essence in such a short time.

The orb glowed gently for a moment, then a space crack appeared; it flew into it and disappeared. At first, Yu Yan was alarmed that he had lost the Pocket World but was quickly relieved by the strong connection he felt. It was in the void now but he was still connected to it and could enter into it simply by willing it.

Planning to check it out later, he took out the last item from the newbie package. It was the sprouting seed. No matter how he checked or probed it, it didn't react, not even to the blood essence he dropped on it that left him pale and exhausted. There was no explanation from the system and no reaction from the seed.

"Yu Yan, come out to meet the Sixth Elder!" A booming voice suddenly startled him and he fell into a panic. He had not yet decided how he would react to this 'supporter' of his. Should he continue to act a fool or should he reveal his true self? There was not much time to think or decide as a soft voice followed the announcement.

"There's no need, he almost died just now. I'll go in myself"

Before he could come up with a plan, the Sixth Elder walked in.

His appearance was like a man in his seventies, with a short beard on his chin and his hair let loose, he looked a little wild but was well groomed to not be mistaken for a beggar.

"How are you feeling?" The old man asked his gaze deep and scrutinizing as he observed Yu Yan.

For a moment, Yu Yan felt as if all his secrets had been exposed by that deep look but this feeling didn't last long. Fortunately, he had been fast enough to send everything he received from the System into the pocket World.

Suddenly, the atmosphere in the room changed, and the Sixth Elder's tone turned cold.

"You recovered?" Although it seemed like he was asking, Yu Yan could hear the conviction in his voice.

Before he could respond, the Sixth Elder's figure blurred, and suddenly, there was a hand over his head, and a warm energy flushed through him. He was just about to call for help when the Sixth Elder reappeared in his previous position as if he hadn't moved.

"There's no need to be alarmed; I had to make sure you weren't possessed," the Sixth Elder waved his hand when he saw Yu Yan's guarded expression.

"You can stop pretending in front of me. I mean you no harm, and you still have my support." There was disdain in the Sixth Elder's expression as if he couldn't be bothered to fight with a child.

"A puppet is good but I still benefit from having the Patriarch as my son-in-law"
