Nia admired the school uniform on the students who looked surprised as they stared and whispered about her.
The white shirt and ash-printed mini skirts and pants blended perfectly with the burgundy jacket and tie, exuding an air of sophistication that matched the prestigious reputation of Brunswick School.
"That's Mrs. Duvernoy!"
Nia overheard a group of girls who looked like freshmen exclaim as they passed by, their curious gazes lingering on her.
Her aim was to remain unnoticed as long as possible while attending Brunswick School, but it seemed impossible already—especially because she was with Lena.
Some students even took pictures of them as they walked into one of the main buildings, where the director's office was located.
Nia's anxiety grew, even though she hadn't officially started classes yet.
Lena knocked on the door labeled 'Director's Office' before entering.
Inside, the office was even more stunning and imposing than Nia had imagined. The spacious room was bathed in soft, natural light streaming through floor-to-ceiling windows framed with dark velvet curtains. The walls were painted a warm taupe that harmonized with the dark, polished wood finishes of the furniture.
A massive mahogany desk was positioned near the window, topped with neatly arranged books, files, and a sleek laptop. A dark leather chair sat behind the desk, exuding an air of authority and comfort. Opposite the desk, a pair of luxurious black leather couches faced each other, separated by a low mahogany coffee table that gleamed under the overhead chandelier.
The walls displayed an exquisite collection of art—paintings that ranged from serene landscapes to bold abstract pieces, their golden frames adding a touch of opulence. A tall, glass-fronted cabinet in the corner showcased an impressive array of trophies and awards, each polished to perfection. A small indoor plant added a splash of life to the otherwise formal setting, its green leaves a subtle contrast to the earthy tones of the room.
Nia couldn't help but marvel at the elegance surrounding her.
The woman she recognized as the twins' mother stood up from her chair with a welcoming smile as Lena entered.
"Oh, Lena, I'm so pleased to see you," she said warmly, stepping forward to embrace her.
"Me too! We saw each other just last week, though," Lena replied, laughing softly.
Marie chuckled, her green eyes twinkling. "True, but it's sad we were too busy to have our monthly family fest last weekend."
Were their families close to each other like the sons?
Nia wondered, as she listened to them silently.
"We'll make up for it this weekend," Lena reassured her.
Marie's smile widened.
"And this must be the sweet girl who found your handbag and you're registering today," She said, turning her attention to Nia with genuine delight.
"Yes, this is Nia," Lena introduced. "Nia, this is Mrs. Marie Brunswick—I'm sure you already know who she is."
Nia nodded politely, shaking Marie's hand.
Marie Brunswick was beautiful, with a striking elegance that matched that of Lena, and features that mirrored those of her twin sons. Her jet-black, glossy hair was neatly styled, cascading just below her shoulders. Her emerald-green eyes—sharp and observant—carried a resemblance to Conan, while her poised demeanor radiated confidence. She wore a tailored burgundy blazer that complemented her flawless complexion and accentuated her figure. A string of pearls rested gracefully on her neck, adding a touch of sophistication.
"It's a pleasure to meet you, ma'am," Nia said, her voice slightly nervous. She had never thought she would be in the same room with the wives of two billionaires in her life, let alone having a casual conversation.
"I'm happy to meet you too. I've heard only good things about you. Come, let's have some coffee," Marie said, gesturing to the couches.
She prepared coffee in three fine china cups with intricate patterns etched in gold, placing them on the table as she joined them.
"Lena mentioned you attended Stenkreft High School. Is that correct?" Marie asked, crossing her legs elegantly and sipping her coffee.
"Yes, ma'am. I just finished my 11th grade," Nia replied.
"Well, you know Brunswick School is quite a leap from Stenkreft. You'll need to put in tremendous effort to excel here," Marie said, her tone kind but firm.
"Yes ma'am, I'll do my best to ensure I succeed here," Nia promised.
Marie nodded approvingly. "Good. Let's handle the formalities and get the necessary documents signed."
Nia finished off her coffee as she watched Marie sought out the required documents from a cabinet behind her desk, admiring the effortless elegance of the woman.
"I read an article about Brunswick yesterday," Lena said, breaking the silence. "There's been massive improvement over the past two years."
Marie beamed. "Of course. We're always striving to get better. My boys have been doing great with the student council—they're full of ideas to enhance the school."
Nia knew 'my boys' meant her twins.
What was the student's council all about though? She wondered.
"I'm really impressed," Lena said with a pleased smile.
As they were signing all the necessary documents, Nia saw the tuition fee and was dumbfounded, with her eyes widening.
$60,000 per semester?!
She thought to herself, shocked.
Nia quickly schooled her expression as Marie handed her a booklet outlining the school rules.
"I'm sure you're not the type to break rules," Marie said with a knowing smile.
"I promise I won't, ma'am," Nia replied sincerely.
Marie looked pleased with her response.
"So, what's your uniform size?" she asked.
Nia beamed, unable to hide her excitement.
"Size 34."
She couldn't wait to put on the special uniform of Brunswick School.
Nia watched Marie walk over to her desk and ordered the uniform to be brought to her office with the telephone.
"I ordered three uniforms like you requested," Marie said to Lena as she returned to the couch.
"Thank you, she doesn't have to stress about her uniform," Lena replied, turning to smile at Nia who was speechless.
Three? That was a lot!
Or maybe is it because I'm not used to the 'rich kid' treatment? She wondered.
The uniforms were brought in and Nia was ushered to the private closet in the office to try it on.
Lena's face lit up when she stepped out.
"It suits you perfectly," she said, grinning.
Marie nodded in agreement, her smile warm.
Nia returned to the couch with the well ironed uniforms back in the bag it came with, as Lena ended the call she was on.
"I just spoke with Franklin, he'll take you home when you're ready. He should be here in the next 10 minutes," Lena revealed.
Nia nodded with a grateful smile.
"So, Nia, what's your major? Science or art?" Marie asked.
"Science," Nia replied.
"You won't share classes with Logan, then, since he's in art. I suppose that's a huge relief for you," Lena teased with an amused smile.
Nia grinned.
Could life here get any better?
To say she was relieved was a massive understatement.
