Alex's boots echoed in the sterile fluorescent lit corridors of site 19 his hand hovered near his holstered sidearm, a reflex that felt like second nature but that was part of the problem

Stopping by a reflective panel he caught his own face staring back at him, cropped brown hair, a clean shaven jaw, and a paint scar across his left eyebrow. None of this felt unfamiliar, but it should. his memories three tangled, conflicting streams warned for dominance

One set told him he was Alex Carter, a night shift security guard from a quiet Suburb in his old world, the second insisted he'd been working as a site 19 guard for years, conducting routine patrols and surviving the occasional containment breach. The third set, the most confusing of all, whispered fragmented images of an alternative site 19. The layout was similar, but the rules of engagements were different. There, anomalies wasn't just contained, they were used.

The voice was familiar. And yet it wasn't. Just another layer of the surreal.

He clipped the radio back onto his belt and started walking. His legs carried him with the confidence of someone who knew what these halls well, even though every step made him question that certainly. Was this his first day here, or had he done this routine a thousand times before?

As he rounded a corner, he passed a containment chamber marked SCP-173. The air felt heavy near the door, and his pulse quickened despite himself, he knew exactly what was inside, thanks to memories of obsessively reading SCP files in his old world. That knowledge had been theoretical once, fictional even, now it was the reason his hand stayed close to his weapon.

Still, it was hard to shake the thought, if this place is real, how many other nightmares

Hey Phantom author here this is a prologue to the story to see if there's any interest if there is I will continue it my plan for this series is unique as you can see now I'm going to say this ahead of time I am not the best author so there will probably be mistakes

and to try and avoid any mistakes I am using an AI to assist with my writing and before anyone says anything all the things I have written are all my ideas but I use the AI to help flush out my ideas and to run the story by the AI to make sure there are no mistakes
