She waved her husband good bye as his Rolls Royce drove out of the mansion.Beatrice countenance changed as she sighed as walked slowly into the house as if counting her steps, she slumped on the nearest couch reminiscing on the recent events surrounding her family.Beatrice loved and cherished her family so much, even though she didn't further her education on becoming a nurse due to her marriage to Chief, her family thought it wasn't necessary as Chief was wealthy and could take care of her,Chief Obi also saw it as no use since he needed someone that would take care of the house and a woman to welcome him whenever he comes back from work,so Beatrice became a housewife taking care of her husband and the house even though Chief Obi employed staff to make sure the house was always clean yet Beatrice got up to clean despite Chief telling her to leave it to his staff because that is why he pays them.Being the wife of a prominent wealthy business tycoon she was respected by all especially their town meeting which was towards the ending of the year, she was made the President of the women's wing,a position all women in the wing were eager to occupy despite them contesting for the position consistently whenever they got the chance but it was given to Beatrice without her making effort for it and this led to a slight division in the group as some of the women agitated against it but their agitation couldn't hold water due to the position of her husband.Beatrice inability to give birth and the miscarriages that followed brought different names to her,the women then found a ground to accusing her of being a witch but they couldn't say it openly but whispered it amongst themselves, Beatrice heared about it and it made her cry for days, some of the women started making advances to Chief Obi to give him children but he refused because of his personality,it broke Beatrice heart when she found out about it but the one that nearly drove her nuts was when her mother came to visit her with young girl in her early twenties,an old torn leather bag in her hand,a typical village girl"She's Ugomma,a well brought up girl and her family are known for being fertile, they give birth like chickens, don't worry you won't have a problem with her you're still the senior wife and Chief will understand, infact he'll appreciate me for being a good inlaw, having grandchildren at my age is very important, and I need them, inugo nwam"her mother said trying to convince her but it took everything in her not to throw her mother out of her house, her mother's insensitivity baffled her, someone she needed in times like this was one who was adding salt to her injury. She didn't allow her mother pass the night in her house, she called the driver who packed her mother's bag into the booth likewise Ugomma's bag,her mother lashed at her for sending her home in such a manner but she cared less, she narrated it to Chief who called her mother and warned her never to do such again.Beatrice sought the face of God, crying her heart to Him, sometimes she converse with God as if he was seated beside her like an old friend, she stopped seeing God as someone who was in Heaven but she saw Him as her only friend, whatever she did,she was talking to God,the staff began to see her as someone who was not mentallly stable because of her situation"I think madam is running mad, eiiyaa I pity her" the staff whispered it amongst themselves and reported it to Chief who was scared at first but observed it and found her soliloquizing then asked her but her response made Chief speechless"I've found a friend I never had and he's Jesus, even though you can't see him he's here if you can feel him".Her joy was restored and her faith in God grew even as she battled for her life when she had the last miscarriage that nearly took her life but her friend Jesus eventually gave her a child.Their towns men and members of their women wing came to their home in Lagos to welcome the baby. They were shocked beyond their imagination that Beatrice could ever give birth to a child despite the doctor's report that her womb was damaged, the women who accused her of being a witch covered their faces in shame, Beatrice suspended them from the meeting and the other members agreed with her chanting "Presido ka anyi g'eso m'ona je je m'ona la la Presido k'anyi g'eso"Beatrice smiled to her herself as the chant continued. The celebration of the child lasted for a week and it was a beautiful one with dignitaries in attendance.Beatrice danced with so much joy that everyone joined her to dance to God's glory. Her mother apologized for her trying to divide her union with her husband, she stayed for her omugwo for three months and she went back home with foodstuffs, wrappers and so many other things that the booth of the car couldn't close properly.Beartice watched her child grow, the feeling of motherhood grew as Adaorah was everything she wanted in a child. Beatrice kept friendship with Jesus and it became stronger as she introduced her daughter to Jesus.Cheif hardly joined in the family prayers as he always complained of stress from work but whenever he joined in the prayers it would be lengthy and vibrant and Beatrice would open her eyes slightly wondering what came over her husband and praying it remains permanent. She took upon herself to commit her family into God's hand nothing would come in between her family.Chief was grateful for having Beatrice as his wife and took her on a vacation to Paris together with their baby enjoy each other company and Beatrice thanked God for his love in her family.
