Chapter 2 - The Assassin's Visit

Kiria's fists flew through the air, her movements a blur as she took down her opponent with ease. She was a force to be reckoned with, her skills honed from years of training and combat.

As she stood over her defeated opponent, her phone buzzed with an incoming message. She glanced at the screen, her eyes narrowing as she read the words.

"Meet me at Club Onyx tonight. We have a situation with The Shadow."

Kiria's heart skipped a beat as she read the message. The Shadow. Ethan Blackwood. A man she knew all too well.

She arrived at Club Onyx that night, her eyes scanning the crowded room for her contact. The music pulsed through her veins like a living thing, the strobing lights casting eerie shadows on the walls.

Her contact was a tall, imposing figure with a scar above his left eyebrow. He nodded at her as she approached, his expression grim.

"Kiria," he said, his voice low and gravelly. "We have a problem. The Shadow's been injured, and he's currently residing in City General Hospital."

Kiria's eyes widened in surprise. "What happened?"

Her contact leaned in, his voice dropping to a whisper. "We're not entirely sure. But what we do know is that The Shadow's lost his memories. He doesn't remember who he is or what he's done."

Kiria's mind was racing. She had so many questions. Why had Ethan lost his memories? And what did it mean for their complicated past?

She had known Ethan for years, had worked with him on numerous occasions. He was a hard man, driven by his own moral code. But despite his tough exterior, Kiria had seen glimpses of vulnerability, of a deep pain that he kept hidden from the world.

And she had to admit, she had feelings for him. Feelings that she had never quite been able to shake.

"I need to see him," she said, her voice firm.

Her contact nodded, handing her a small folder containing The Shadow's hospital records. "Be careful, Kiria. The Shadow may not remember his past, but he's still a dangerous man."

Kiria smiled, a cold glint in her eye. "I can handle myself."

With that, she turned and disappeared into the night, ready to face whatever dangers lay ahead. The hospital loomed before her, its towering spires reaching towards the sky like skeletal fingers.

Kiria's heart was pounding as she stepped inside, her eyes scanning the bustling corridors for any sign of The Shadow.

She found him in a private room on the top floor, his eyes closed as if in sleep. Kiria's gaze locked onto his face, her heart skipping a beat as she took in his chiseled features.

The Shadow.

Ethan Blackwood.

The man she had loved and hated in equal measure.

Kiria's eyes roamed over his face, taking in the sharp jawline, the piercing blue eyes, and the raven-black hair that fell across his forehead in a messy swoop.

She felt a pang of sadness, of regret. What had happened to him? And why had he lost his memories?

Kiria's gaze locked onto Ethan's face, her heart pounding in her chest. She knew that she had to be careful, to tread a fine line between her feelings for him and her need to uncover the truth.

But as she looked at him, she knew that she was in trouble. She still had feelings for him, feelings that she thought she had long buried.

And now, as she stood beside his hospital bed, she knew that she was in danger of falling for him all over again.
