Chapter 1 - ch 1 prolong

The blaring sound of Kai's alarm clock shattered the tranquility of the morning. Groaning, he reached out, slapping the clock until it finally stopped its obnoxious beeping. Sunlight streamed through the curtains, casting golden rays across his messy room—sports gear piled in one corner, trophies glinting on a cluttered shelf.

Kai, a fifteen-year-old with a competitive spirit and boundless energy, rubbed the sleep from his eyes.

"Kai! Get up, man. We'll be late!" Zac's voice called from the hallway.

Kai sighed, throwing off his blanket. Zac, his fourteen-year-old brother, was the complete opposite of him—brainy, kind, and always on top of things. While Kai dominated the sports field and thrived on competition, Zac excelled in academics, his sharp mind earning him respect from teachers and peers alike.

Kai pulled on his school uniform and headed downstairs, where Zac was already at the breakfast table, neatly dressed and reading a thick book on astrophysics—light morning reading for him.

"Morning, nerd," Kai teased, grabbing a piece of toast.

"Morning, jock," Zac shot back with a grin.

"You know, if you actually woke up on time, you wouldn't have to rush."

"Where's the fun in that?" Kai smirked, wolfing down his breakfast. "Anyway, ready to go?" Zac closed his book with a satisfied nod. "Yeah, let's head out."

The two brothers grabbed their bags and stepped out into the crisp morning air. The walk to school was a familiar routine—a time for casual banter and shared laughs.

Their neighborhood was peaceful, lined with cherry blossom trees that were just starting to bloom. "So, big game coming up?" Zac asked as they walked.

"Yep. Gonna crush it, as usual," Kai said confidently. "Coach says I've got a real shot at breaking the school record."

"Just don't get too cocky," Zac warned. "Overconfidence is the downfall of champions."

Kai laughed. "And you'd know all about that, Mr. Debate Team Captain?" Zac shrugged modestly. "I just prepare well. You should try it sometime."

Their playful banter was cut short when a strange sensation prickled the air. The atmosphere grew heavy, and the sky above them seemed to shimmer unnaturally.

"Uh, Zac, you seeing this?" Kai asked, his competitive bravado giving way to unease.

Before Zac could respond, a swirling portal of blue and silver light materialized right in front of them. The wind whipped around them, tugging at their clothes.

"What the—?" Kai began, but the words were swallowed by the roaring vortex.

Without thinking, Kai took a step toward the portal, drawn by a strange, inexplicable force. "Kai, wait!" Zac shouted.

But Kai was already too close.

The portal's energy wrapped around him, pulling him in. Zac, acting purely on instinct, lunged forward and grabbed his brother's hand.

The world tilted and spun, colors blending into a chaotic blur. Kai felt weightless, as though they were falling through endless space.

Then, with a jarring thud, they landed on solid ground.

Kai groaned, pushing himself up. The air smelled different—cleaner, almost magical. Towering trees with shimmering leaves surrounded them, and strange, ethereal creatures flitted through the air.

"Zac? You okay?" Kai asked, brushing dirt off his uniform.

Zac sat up, adjusting his glasses.

"Yeah, I think so. But where are we?" Kai scanned their surroundings, his competitive instincts kicking in. "No idea, but wherever it is, we'll figure it out. We always do."

Zac nodded, his analytical mind already working on a plan. "First, we need to gather information. Observe our environment, look for signs of civilization."

Kai grinned. "And if there's trouble, I'll handle it."

Together, the brothers stood, ready to face whatever challenges this strange new world had in store for them.

One driven by logic and intellect, the other by heart and determination—an unbreakable team bound by blood and trust.
