"Please don't do that, I'm begging you!" said the girl desperately, crying for her best friend who was about to fall.
A few years ago, there lived a girl named Herbjorg Stromborn, who lived in the capital city of Norway—Oslo, where nature meets innovation, with its forests blending seamlessly with modern architecture. She was 16 years old and attended high school in the city. Herbjorg went about her school life normally, until one day, out of the blue, her two best friends—who were also her childhood friends—joined the same high school. Their names were Kadlin Dark Tongue and Thorlaug Vetle. Thorlaug was the oldest of the three friends, while Herbjorg was the youngest. Herbjorg was a top student, but after her friends joined the school, her grades began to drop significantly.
Herbjorg took both her friends around the school, showing them how everything worked and so on. When school ended and they were heading home, they bumped into Sindre Arnarson and his friends. To their surprise, he ignored them without even saying sorry. Herbjorg had had a crush on Sindre ever since high school started, but he never looked her way—not even once. Feeling hurt, Herbjorg just laughed and continued on her way with her friends.
Thorlaug said, "Who is that jerk, and why did he do that?" Kadlin laughed and said, "Now relax and try not to jump on him." But Herbjorg didn't react at all, and they became suspicious.
"Girl, are you okay?" asked Kadlin. Still, Herbjorg didn't answer, feeling angry toward Sindre. Thorlaug then said, "Don't tell me you have a crush on that guy?"
