Chapter 1 - Bus Stop

The golden rays seemed softer now, the cold bench beneath me slowly forgotten as the wind picked up the dry leaves, like they were dancing, and I could almost hear the world whispering.

As I waited, I swung my legs slowly, my hands resting on the bench.

Buzz... Buzzz…

A notification popped up:

"Please make sure to attach the file tonight."

I sighed.

"I spent the whole week working on that report, and now they've discarded it without a second glance. I can't believe it."

Should I even bother? They'll never notice.

I sighed again, slipping my phone back into my handbag. I stared at the sky, wishing to be a bird—then I could fly forever without a single worry.

"Did you wait too long?"

My swinging stopped, and a light tap on my shoulder made me snap out of it. My body relaxed, and a smile popped out of nowhere.

There he was, in a simple black t-shirt and blue jeans, casually walking toward me with a grin and a boba in his hand.

"One cup of chocolate, just the way you like it."

It was neither hot nor cold—it was warm.

He sat next to me as soon as he handed it over.

"Always the stubborn one." He reached out, gently covering my neck with a scarf.

"Wait a moment."

He pulled a blue napkin from his pocket and started to wipe the spill.

"Let me do it."

"Nope. Let me do it. It's an opportunity."

I looked at him, dumbfounded by his reply.

"Who wouldn't want to touch an adorable baby-like face?"

He said it with a straight face.

My cheeks flushed, and I looked away, lightly punching his arm.

Out of nervousness, I drank all the boba in an instant.

"Are you okay? You seem a bit quiet today."

His soft voice made my shoulders relax, and my head fell onto his shoulder.

It felt right to say everything in my mind. I don't know how much I talked, but he was smiling the whole time, nodding and holding my hands.

After that, my heart felt light, my mind became fresh, and I was making jokes again.

We both laughed the evening out.

"I don't know what I'd do without you," I said, my voice soft but strong, and I meant it more than I had ever said anything before.

"I'm so glad you're in my life," he replied, his voice steady, his smile genuine.

"Me too."

Never mind, today turned out to be a great day after all
