From April to June 2006, John spent two months in the villa, with the exception of one visit to the WGA Writers Guild.
If reconstructing the novel with a film was tough at first, once he finished Maleficent, he appeared to have discovered a method, inspiration flowed, and he became more skilled at manipulating words, which surely enhanced his confidence.
So, in the last two months, aside from eating and exercising, I finished the first volume of "Dark Fairy Tales" and duplicated the first volume of "The Hunger Games" as well as the outlines of five scripts nearly nonstop.
He went to the WGA Writers Guild to send over five script outlines for protection. Paying a fee allows him to safeguard his global copyright and avoid a conflict with the film business. Even if there is a butterfly effect, it is difficult to predict if similar ideas will emerge. , taking advantage of the rules and becoming unstoppable due to the union's record-keeping.
Sorry, but John did not regard the screenwriters of the original work in the previous life.
There is simply no fairness in the world.
Plagiarism has nothing to do with money or fame.
Shameless?
John could only say "hey."
Whoever allowed himself to be possessed and resurrected, no matter what favor was bestowed upon him by a passing god or the God of the West, had to utilize these advantages to consume all the resources he could grasp.
John has no interest in being a screenwriter right now because the status of screenwriters in the film industry is quite low. The 2008 nationwide strike is an excellent example. Although he is a licensed screenwriter with the Screenwriters Guild, he has only worked on one script adaptation: his own novel.
The screenplay position is only a convenient method for him to get into Hollywood; he will never make a living from it. A great screenwriter's annual salary of 500,000 is little!
Ding dong.
After a few minutes, the door clicked open, and a middle-aged Chinese woman of average look emerged in front of the overweight guy Kurt, smelling of alcohol and with unfocused eyes. She leaned against the door frame and questioned, shocked and perplexed, "Wen Mr. Senter, why are you so drunk?"
"John... Is John at home?" Kurt wrenched away from the woman's support and stumbled inside the villa, shouting.
"Hey, man! What time is it? If you're so drunk and don't go home, why are you here with me?"
John, who had just finished working out and wanted to take a shower, heard the shouting and down from the second level. When he spotted the inebriated agent, he inquired aggressively.
Kurt, who appeared to be close to pass out, seemed to get more agile as John approached. He took a few steps forward and hugged John, screaming out loudly, "John, I'm fired." That damn bitch stole my client and sued me for harassment. I'm finished!"
John rolled his eyes, pushed the crying Kurt away, helped him sit on the sofa, and whispered in Chinese to the nanny standing aside: "Aunt Liu, get him a glass of ice water."
"Sir, I don't dare to call you that. You'd better call me by my name! I'll get it right away."
Liu Yan flapped her hands in terror and humiliation, still uneasy with her "foreign" employer who spoke Mandarin better than her. She called her aunt.
Looking at Liu Yan's terrified back, she shrugged helplessly.
Liu Yan immigrated with her daughter. She originally founded a restaurant in China that served delicious Sichuan cuisine. Although her daughter and son-in-law are both middle-class and have no financial worries, she feels a little uneasy remaining at home all day due to the language barrier. So I signed up to hunt for a job through an agency.
Fatty Kurt went around looking for a nanny who could prepare Chinese cuisine for John. He occurred to notice her details. After gathering a general understanding of the scenario, he drove her to John's home. Liu Yan was overjoyed when she saw the villa located in a rich neighborhood. I was worried that my language barrier would make it difficult to get work, but when she met John, he spoke standard Mandarin, which astonished her. She also got friendlier to the attractive eldest child in front of her. She was astonished when John revealed that he is one-quarter Chinese. Liu Yan felt as though she had met her people, and her tense heart relaxed.
There were no complications during the subsequent interview. After some time spent conversing and understanding one other's basic situations, the two parties decided to enter into a work partnership.
He grabbed the ice water supplied by the nanny, placed it in the hand of Kurt, who was still screaming uncontrollably, and patted him hard in irritation.
"Hey, man, it's about time! It's not over yet. Once the work is gone, it's gone. It's only a matter of time. I told you to be careful about your secretary."
"Ahem...cough, damn, please be gentle!"
Kurt rubbed his sore shoulder and took a gulp of ice water. He nearly choked. He stared at John's gloating face and said, "Hey, wipe it, I shouldn't have come to you to try to get it out of your mouth." It's difficult to be comforted!"
"Haha, you know me well. You brought it all upon yourself. Something will happen due to the unspoken rules of the office. It's just a matter of time!"
John sat on the sofa, crossed his legs, glanced at Kurt sideways, and sneered from the corner of his mouth.
"Is there anything clean up and down in the cca? It's okay to take a shower and sleep after you come out. I have something to tell you tomorrow!"
"Ah? Little John, you're not going to fire me too, are you? I only have you now, you can't abandon me!"
His pudgy face, which had been rosy from alcohol, became pale in an instant, and he hurled himself onto John on the sofa with a look of grief-stricken death.
"Go away, you fat guy, I'm not gay! What are you thinking? I won't fire you, damn, it's really annoying. Okay, stop making trouble, go wash up and sleep, you sleep on the second floor guest room."
In his rage, John kicked Kurt in the stomach and walked up to the second floor, leaving the overweight guy sprawled on the carpet.
A night of quiet.
"I didn't expect you to wake up earlier than me, Kurt."
John sat down at the dining table with a sly smile, looked at Kurt, who was in much better spirits, and then nodded to the nanny, Liu Yan: "Good morning, Aunt Liu."
Before the two of them could speak, he asked in a taunting tone, "Have you cried enough?""
Kurt was ashamed and indignant as he looked at Liu Yan's hot and obese face, saying, "Aunt Liu, can you give me some beef for breakfast?" "I need to supplement my nutrition because my body is a little weak."
"Okay, sir, I'm going to make you a plate of stir-fried beef, please wait a moment." Liu Yan placed bread, milk bacon, and fried eggs on the table and smiled when she heard John's request.
John was astonished as he saw Liu Yan pull out the beef from the refrigerator and start working. Originally, she simply wanted a portion of fried veal, but now it's a stir-fry. Fortunately, his smoker was excellent, or otherwise the entire villa would have been covered in oil smoke.
Kurt, on the other hand, began to clear the table as if a hungry ghost had been reincarnated.
"Hey, fat man, eat less; this is my breakfast!" John seized the dish of food and yelled angrily.
"Tch, cheapskates!"" Kurt murmured, stuffing bread and bacon into his lips.
John twitched his eyelids, telling himself that he shouldn't be like this damn big man.
The breakfast concluded with Kurt appearing resentful of John's substantial meal. "Okay, fat boy, come to the study. I have something significant to discuss with you." John wiped his lips with a handkerchief and stroked his belly with pleasure.
Kurt angrily followed him into the study, and he didn't mind John calling him a fat guy. After the two sat down, Liu Yan handed them two cups of coffee.
John took a sip of coffee before removing the manuscript for the first volume of "Dark Fairy Tales" from the desk drawer and throwing it in front of Kurt.
Kurt nearly vomited out the coffee in his mouth, dropping the cup in his palm in excitement and staring at the mound of manuscripts with blazing eyes.
"Oh my God, my God! I am not dreaming!"Looking at Kurt, who was already overly excited, John drank his coffee calmly."
"Oh my God!" Little John has a new work!Kurt, holding the manuscript, was dancing with joy on his face.
"Okay, okay, let's sit down and talk." John was raising his eyebrows. "This book is used to complete the contract with Xuele Publishing House."
Kurt's plump face, flushed with excitement, expressed relaxation after taking a deep breath: "I know, I know, John, you won't let me down. What I mentioned is correct: you are a genius, always... "John, you have really changed."
"Everybody will change. I've just matured. I won't be confused or uncertain in the future. "I won't be the same person I was before."
John waved his hand and said, "Okay, let's stop talking about it. After I have settled with Xuele Publishing House, I intend to establish a firm to oversee all copyrights and commercial operations for books. I don't have much time or energy to handle. I need you to take care of it for me."
Kurt's lips quiver slightly, and his eyes turned red. He looked at John and groaned, "Really, thank you, John. Although I really want to help you take care of everything, I'm afraid my ability is limited."
"When did you become a mother-in-law? This is not the Kurt I know. Didn't you trick me into going to Hollywood just for a better development?" John couldn't help but smirk.
"You're not worried about me getting stuck again, are you? You can rest assured about this, look..."
With that said, John threw the manuscript of "The Hunger Games" on the table again, "This is a novel that I have high hopes for. I believe it will definitely be ranked at the top of the bestseller list!"
"Okay, okay, hahaha." Kurt's big face lit up with a lascivious smile as he fiercely gripped the two manuscripts in both hands. He appeared to have thought of something, and his saliva was almost streaming.
"Okay, put down" The Hunger Games "first. This is a check for one hundred thousand. You go and register the company and rent the office. The name of the company will be Mockingjay."
While John returned Kurt's manuscript to the drawer, he also handed Kurt a pencil sketch of the Mockingjay insignia with wings spread in flames from the film The Hunger Games.
Kurt gazed at the bird expanding its wings amid the flames on the white paper, softly reading the word beneath the pattern.
"Mockingbird!"
